IN THE REALM - October 20, 2006

Jade tightened the ropes that tied her prisoner tightly to his chair. The Shadow stood by casually looking over their prisoner's bookshelf, "Quite a collection you have here." Nominus Aprobus stood motionless watching over the three. The rest Shadow's guild had the night off.

The prisoner strained against his bonds. They tied him up in his own home with his own ropes to his own chair. "What do you want from me?" Jade struck him across the face, "You will speak when spoken to."

"Now Jade, there's no need for that. Our friend here is going to help us." He walked over to the prisoner and leaned closer to his ear, "I want the sword."

The prisoner's eyes widened. "What sword?"

The Shadow sighed and nodded to Jade. She struck the man again. "The Holy Sword.. one of the Eight! It was not easy, but I have managed to track one of you down. So.. as I was saying..I want the sword."

"I no longer have it, nor will I tell you where it is now!" Jade pulled back to strike him again, but the Shadow waved her off. His focus went to Nominus Aprobus.

"I expected as much. Such strong spirit you possess. Granted, all we did was tie you up and slap you around a bit. But I do believe you have a daughter..."

The prisoner's eyes widened again, "She's just a girl! This is between you and me, please leave her out of this!"

"The Sword."

The prisoner lowered his head, "I cannot. Take my life if you must, but spare my daughter's. She doesn't know anything about this."

"Never let it be said that I am not a man without compassion." The Shadow pulled out a book. The prisoner sensed its evil almost immediately. "This is the Book of Hythloth. Its from my realm, but should still be effective enough here. My friend here, Nominus Aprobus, is going to kill you. He is going to rip your spirit out from your body and toss it in a place where no one can find it. In time you will be begging me to listen to you tell me where the sword is."

There was a scream and then a moongate opened up. The group departed. Unknown to them, the man's daughter was hidden in the pantry watching the entire thing. The Skara Brae Rangers found her a day later.

This was outside the Rangers area of expertise. The daughter was terrified but was able to provide the rangers with a small amount of information. Thats when they contacted me, Eric the Red. I've dealt with the Shadow in the past and am familiar with the Book of Hythloth that he used. I have a pretty good idea where we can find the girl's father. But I can't do it alone, I need your help.

If you are interested in helping me in this rescue mission, I ask that you meet me at the Rangers Guild in Skara Brae (Trammel) at 9pm Eastern on Sunday evening (October 22nd). Its located just west of the Skara Brae Bank.

I thank you for your help,
Eric the Red
