PAXLAIR - July 25, 1999 - Mystus
I write this still trembling from the nights events, and I tremble for fear
of what I have done. You see, tonight I killed a Soulslave.
It started last night while my friend Cinderella was on a tour of her new
home Pax Lair. Soulslave appeared with a force of grey robed figures and
immediately attacked her and her escort Hipocretes. She was able to escape and
later told me the tale. Which leads to tonight. I was with some friends of
mine in the guild Church of Steel at our tavern and tower, when Sir Dev
Masters was attacked. by a dark shadowy character, I looked closely and it was
the Soulslave.
I had never seen anything so horrible in my life. His dark skin and aura of
pure evil gave me chills. Sir Dev ran to the safety of the inn not knowing
what was after him. Realizing there were others inside, the Soulslave fled,
and we quickly chased after him to no avail. The group of us decided to split
up and maybe try to find the creature and put a stop to him. I was teamed with
Nivlac Sebboh also of CoS and we were off to Arsylan to see if he was there.
The unbelievable quiet of the tower there was an odd prelude to the
excitement that would follow, for soon after our arrival a message from the
ether called us to Pax Lair. Niv opened a gate and as I found my way through
it I saw the Soulslave coming from the Tower of Order. I shouted the words of
power and cast down a pillar of flame upon his head. I immediately could see
that I could indeed bring him to his maker, whatever that may be. So I gave
chase and summoned energy bolt after energy bolt after him while everyone else
did the same. He saw he was out numbered and ran out of town.
I don't know where it came from but I was able to match his every stride
with ease, all the while drumming up the magical strength to cast more and
more energy bolts at him. Finally I found myself and a brave soul named
Mephisto there alone with the beast grievously wounded. It was only a matter
of time before one of us cast the spell to finally bring death to the foul
Soulslave.
It was me.
He fell in a pile, not making a sound. Upon searching his body we found a
mess of bits picked up from here and there on his journeys. I was able to
recover the armor he had on him though it was nothing more that pieced
together bones. Now I fear retaliation from my killing him, and I will always
have to watch my back.
