A Monk Crosses "Monk's Crossing"
| PaxOku, Tokuno; January
23rd, 2006 -
Monk's Crossing
is the new name of the road that runs
along the island of Homare-Jima and through PaxOku! The name beat
out several other names including Alliance Way, Blue Light Parkway and
Paco Taco Boulevard in the Name the PaxOku Road Contest.
The
four final names with the most votes on the PaxLair.com site were put
to an additonal vote in a ballot box in PaxOku, but the end result of
that vote was overturned by Viceroy Gareth on Friday who elected to let
the PaxLair Government decide. At a quick meeting, eight members
of the PaxLair Government voted unanimously for Monk's Crossing, so
Viceroy Gareth decreed that the road would be named Monk's Crossing!
Monk's Crossing
gets its name from the many monks who run around PaxOku each day, often
crossing the road and paying visits to houses in the city. The
name is also a tribute to Monk, Lord of the Knights.
In the
coming weeks, architects and city planners for PaxOku will be
conducting a survey of the area and assigning house numbers to all of
the houses. The numbers will increase from west to east in yet
undecided increments, and will help visitors and citizens alike to find
houses easily. The house numbers will also be used by the PaxLair
Postal System.
Blue Lampposts
| The PaxOku government
also decided as a way to "show unity", each house on Monk's Crossing
will receive a free Blue Lamppost courtesy of the PaxOku
Treasury. There is also talk making it so all houses use the same
sign style.
As an honary token, the PaxOku Road can be known as "Paco Taco Boulevard" for slang.
Come for a walk on Monk's Crossing today!
