PAXOKU, TOKUNO - At the PaxLair weekly meeting on June 20, 2005, Mayor Winfield designated the PaxLair Tokuno Outpost area as "PaxOku".  The area was originally created as the PaxLair Tokuno Outpost on Nov 20, 2004 when the Tea House, Grimlar's Adventurers Hall (pub and armory), and the PaxLair Gardens were biult.  With citizens, alliance members, and friends present at the meeting, Winfield had this to say:

"First, is the naming of our city here in Tokuno.  I call it a city because it is already large enough in breadth and depth to be a city.

"As you know, PaxLair in the larger sense now expanses across the Shard, from PaxLair City and Dragons Watch in Felucca through the Orc Fort in Malas and into Homare-jima where we are now.  It is truly fitting that each of our locations, our towns, our cities have unique names.  Therefore, after much deliberation and research by wonderful scholars like Neo of Lothlore, I have decide that this place, this city here will be called "PaxOku"!

"PaxOku literally means "The Place that PaxLair Founded" or more literally it is "Peace was Put/Created Here".  PaxLair has been a neutral ground for many years striving for peace and respect among so many people.  We started in Felucca long ago and now reach out across many distances.  Our philosophy has not changed, and the Homare-jima location here is no exception.  PaxOku will prosper as a cross-roads and meeting place for any and all in the Realm to come and meet others, join in activities, and prosper in the lands.

"Please, everyone, welcome to "PaxOku"!!"

... and there were thunderous cheers from the audience.

Memories of Seer Daemeon Print

Mayor Winfield reading the

Books of Seer Daemeon

PAXLAIR CITY, FELUCCA - Back from his long fishing trip, Mayor Winfield spent some time in the PaxLair library inside the Mage Tower.  There, he dusted off the books of Seer Daemeon, the Seer who challenged the evil Mazrim and sacrificed himself in the Spring of Knowledge (subsequently called the Spring of Courage).

In the small alcove outside the Mayor's Meeting hall on the second floor, Winfield gently placed these old tomes from Daemeon and a book of memories written by many people.

"At times like this, when so much is changing in the Realm," Winfield said, "it's important to remember our past and those who've gone before us.  History teaches us of lessons and we tend to hold on to those memories that help us each day in our struggles and successes in this land.  I personally hold dear to me the memories of Seer Daemeon, and those memories guide me each day."

Sibelius, Winmere, and Mayor Winfield sit

at the Mages of the Infinity Tower

Near Gyldenfeld

NEAR GYLDENFELD, TRAMMEL - A pigeon landed on Mayor Winfield's desk in Tokuno late this eve.  It carried a message from an old, old friend -- Sibelius of The Band.  Winfield unrolled the message carefully and discovered that his old friend and guildmates of the Mages of Infinity (MoI) sought to rediscover PaxLair once again.  They sought to join the PaxLair Alliance to be able to participate wholy once more in all the activities of the community.

Without hesitation, Mayor Winfield reached coordinates west of the Red Wolf Cafe in Gyldenfeld.  There he met Siblius and Winmere inside the Mages of the Infinity Tower.  It was a wonderful tower made in the relic stone of old PaxLair.

After short discussion and full confidence in Sibelius and the Mages of Infinity, Winfield invited MoI into the Alliance.  While this is a bit unprecedented without discussing matters with the other Alliance guildmasters, Mayor Winfield made specific note that Sibelius, one of the founders of PaxLair, has worked with PaxLair on and off for over 7 years and has never lost the Mayor's trust.  Therefore, Mayor Winfield decided to invite MoI into the alliance at once.  It was also a matter of differences in time across the Realm where the Mages of Infinity traditionally are awake much earlier than most in PaxLair, and go to rest earlier as well.

All, please welcome the Mages of Infinity to the PaxLair Alliance.  With trust and respect, the Alliance continues to hold true.

The Fountain

PAXLAIR, TOKUNO — Citizens of PaxLair Tokuno awoke this morning to find the first complete use of PaxLair tax dollars, in the form of a new permanent water fountain.

The fountain, which is located in front of the new Post Office & Meeting Hall was rumored to have cost the city 2.3 million gold, sources say.  Treasury Minister John Duke, who is directly in charge of civic spending said that the money was well spent and taxes would not increase at this time.

The fountain was assembled by Lady Sarberius and Richard MacBeth using water barrels and various bits of garnish.

PaxLair expects that the fountain will last for some time, but there is always the chance of vandalism which may destroy one or more pieces.

Mayor Winfield visisted the fountain this morning before departing on his fishing trip and thanked Juanita Duke for making such a bold decision on civic beautification.

The next step of PaxLair's tax buget will be a tax credit for all citizens, totalling in an amount of $0.00!!

John Lennon Lives! In a dead sort of way

Ahh, May 30th, what a day to be a Beatle fan. Why, you ask? Because on this date, the Beatles had two separate Number One hits, "Paperback Writer" and "The Ballad of John and Yoko." Memorable tunes that needed attention as I decided to go to Troubadour Hall to honor this day. As I approached Troubadour Hall, what a sight I did behold! John Lennon himself was there haunting the bejesus out of it. He was clearly there to honor himself and the Beatles as I decided to go inside and greet him.

Quite the accomplishments John Lennon had in his lifetime, and there was much to ask him, but knowing John doesn't like a whole lot of attention I said my greetings and left him in peace.

If you would like to honor this great day in Beatle History, just go to Troubadour Hall, and vote for your favorite Beatle on the roof. We are also taking song suggestions to be added to the Hall.

Te'kug and Zack Morris

It was the night before the weekend, and all through the coliseum,
everyone was stirring, as everyone was anxious to see them..

“Blood we want”, the chants rang out clear
As the 9:00 O’clock hour drew near.

The fans were settled in their chairs,
With visions of destruction looming in the air.
The referee was ready also,
As he prepared to say “Go!”

This was no ordinary day, this was Friday Night,
And everyone there knew, it was time to Fight.
All of the competitors were lined up with care,
Knowing that their time to fight, would soon be there.

The competition tonight was diverse,
Many different skills were transversed.
As templates from many a generation,
Were brought together to cause a sensation.

There was Cross Macleod of [PV], who studied the divine,
And the Orcs: Ga’kuct and Te’kug, whose WarGod was ready to dine.
But add to the fray: Zack Morris, a feared macer.
And Graf Freiwind a respected fencer.

Gareth and his new hat

A recent Doom expedition has made a citizen of PaxLair wealthy beyond his wildest imaginations! Gareth of [*Ni*] recently acquired a Hunter's Headdress for slaying the Dark Father in Doom and then quickly ran out with his booty. The Hunter's Headdress has an estimated value between 12,000,000 gold and 17,000,000 gold, which has of course been brought to my attention, as Treasurer. It is well known that there is a a very harshly enforced 44% Income Tax as well as a 10% Sales Tax and a 20% Ownership Tax, which I will make sure to acquire those funds and put them to good use within PaxLair.

Congratulations to Gareth for his find! And to the Tax office for their new source of income!

Jupiter!

Mayor Winfield recently inducted that Terrific Treasurer, John Duke, as the Knight of Jupiter. The long desolate and undiscovered planet will soon have a visitor, as the Knight of Jupiter, John Duke, ships off to discover what mysteries lie within the planets cold and unforgiving atmosphere.

It is believed by many to be a fools adventure, since the planet is believed to consist almost completely of liquid Hydrogen and the Knight will simply sink to his demise, but John Duke dismissed these rumors as "Poppy Koff". "The planet is simply one large ball of yarn, and I intend to prove that" he stated. "Once I land there, I plan on harvesting all of the yarn which will drive PaxLair's Economy", he went on to say.

If successful, John Duke will generate enough income to give jobs to all persons in PaxLair as well as pay all past dues and debts, but there is a catch: he doesn't have any way to get to the foreign planet. "Getting there isn't a problem" he said, "I could go there anytime I want, I just don't feel like it at the moment". So the mission has been grounded until such time that John Duke "feels like it."

the Elusive Big Foot

Recently, while wandering in the woods behind the Ladies of the Lair, trying to locate the entrance to the river that flows under the Spring of Courage, I heard a crunching sound off in the distance. Slowly I approached and hid under one of the tables behind the Ladies of the Lair, trying to find out if what was in the area was friend or foe, and much to my surprise, it was the legendary beast itself!

I remained silent under the table trying to discover the creatures motives, seeing if it was possibly a scout for murderers, thieves, or lumberjacks.  The creature investigated the area and began to get closer and closer to me, I knew this would be my only chance to greeet the creature, so I jumped out from the table and yelled "OOGA BOOGA", assuming this was his native tongue. Unfortunately, it was not, and he quickly ran off into the distance, but not before I took this image.

This mysterious creature could possibly be up to no good, so if you're in the area, becareful while wandering the woods!

Mayor Winfield meets with Lu Bu [TOK] and
Threnody [COH]

PAXLAIR OUTPOST, HOMARE-JIMA, TOKUNO - PaxLair architects, carpenters, masons, gardeners, and a few Bake Kitsunes and Ronins completed work last week on the PaxLair Mayor's office at the Tokuno Outpost.  The building, located at the northeast end of the road of buildings, is one of two primary Mayor's offices for official PaxLair government business.  The other Mayor's office currently resides within the Mage/Paladin's Tower in PaxLair, Felucca.

Upon receiving the keys to the office, Mayor Winfield quickly moved in his personal effects.  On his desk is a stuffed fish, presumably stuffed with old scrolls, fish hooks, and something made of metal that he would not talk about.  In the center of the desk is a journal and sextant.  Winfield used the sextant to calculate coordinates and create ideas while spinning the realm globe off to his right.  There was a stack of old books in fine print with an hourglass on top.  The hourglass reminded the Mayor he has little time to read through each book before another shipment arrives from the PaxLair Post Office.

Finally, a pile of gold lay on the floor.  When asked what it was for, Mayor Winfield replied, "I'm a bit behind on my taxes and I over-extended my budget for this building.  There are some workers requiring back-pay and it's not good to upset the Ronin and Bake Kitsunes in the area.  John Duke is also a bit upset with me for not managing the budget properly.  So I throw every extra piece of gold onto the pile."  When asked if people can make donations he said, "I don't seek donations.  People have enough economic peril of their own.  The pile just reminds me to pay the local evil for their past services before they create a problem for our Outpost."

While in the office, two adventurers arrived and greeted the Mayor.  They were Lu Bu and Threnody.  After a few moments of discussion, the local Bake Kitsune formed a riot outside, protesting their lack of payment.  Mayor Winfield looked over his shoulder at the monsters that were disturbing the peace and said, "those Bake Kitsune will just have to wait for their payment!  Disperse the crowd please," Lu Bu and Threnody rushed outside and quickly motivated the growing crowd to move back into their woods.

The Mayor is expected to be in his office on a regular basis, when he is not fishing or attending to duties throughout the PaxLair locations and the Realm.  All are welcome to stop by.

Cross and Tetrevus Duel It Out
A new Friday Night Fight's Champion was crowned Friday, May 20th, as three competitors fought it out: Arig'lak the Orc, returning again only to be ashamed and put in his place, Cross Macleod, the noble Paladin of Virtue, and Tetrevus of [BiC], the current holder for the fastest kill. Arig'lak was put to shame in almost all duels he entered, but it was Cross Macleod and Tetrevus who were the true competitors, fighting with extreme caution and fortitude they clashed, but with a blood oath at Tetrevus' disposal, Cross was done in by his own Armor Ignore.

The tournament's are double elimination, however! As again Cross and Tetrevus met, but this time, Cross wasn't to be fooled by the Blood Oath's influences and gave Tetrevus the best fight he could give him, but it was to no avail as Tetrevus again sealed a record kill, defeating Cross in 6 seconds, tying the 2nd fastest speed kill record (first also being held by Tetrevus at 5 seconds). Congratulations to Tetrevus on his first Weekly Championship and a special thanks to Blue Collar for hosting the Friday Night Fight and for the competitors who made it out!

This coming Friday, May the 27th, is the May Monthly Friday Night Fight. Monthly fights are open to all fighters with a 25k entry fee and prizes are as follows:  First place wins 100k+50% of entry fee's, Second place wins 25% of entry fee's, and Third place wins 15% of entry fee's.  The remaining 10% of entry fee's will be divided as follows:  9% to the yearly pot and 1% to the CFC.  The results of the Monthly Tournaments also help your invitation status in the yearly tournaments, with Monthly victors receiving an automatic invite. The only rules of the Friday Night Fights are: No Mounts/Pets/Summons, No Pre-Casting, and No Hiding/Stealthing.

The Team Combats Deadly Paragons

SOUTHEAST DUNGEON, NEAR SPIRITUALITY, ILSHENAR - Late Thursday night, The Fellowship of Peace (with a couple of other people in the Realm) went into action against deadly Paragons at the Death Vortex in Ilshenar.  The Fellowship of Peace [TFP] quickly spread word throughout the PaxLair Alliance that a growing and dangerous threat existed in Ilshenar that needed to be stopped quickly.  Many people dropped their fishing poles, blacksmith hammers, and solo monster hunt and came to the Call to Battle.  Once equipped and ready in Haven, the team headed into the dark Southeast Dungeon of Ilshenar.

The SE Dungeon in Ilshenar

In the dungeon, TFP members Lady Fantasy, Lady worlock, Indian Larry, Mr Man, and Legion along with Mayor Winfield [Pax], Fisherguy [*M*], and Dragon Slayer combatted Lords of the Abyss, Slayers, and Collectors of Souls.  Many times, the enemy died only to call upon reinforcements and sometimes their Paragon forces.  As in major battles, once again the pets served a vital role.  Gloom (hiyru) and adeathdragon (dragon) fought hard against all the enemies.

At one stage in the battle a paragon called in another paragon from a nearby chamber, but both were quickly sent to the abyss.  The team leaders later stated "this was one of the best groups we've had in a while," thus honoring the team's performance.

After a couple of hours of battle, the team returned with several artifacts and many victories under their belt.

Land Mine Locations

PaxLair Tokuno today has been put at ease from the ongoing threat of the Ronins to the North-West, the Tsuki Wolves to the North-East, and the Yamadon living to the South-West! Our very wise and very acute Treasurer, John Duke, has successfully allocated funds into the placing of multiple land mines in, and around the PaxLair Tokuno area. The land mines are highly explosive small crates, buried all around buildings, looking to catch any wandering monsters that come to ravage are fair home, and put an end to their havoc.

Winfield Will Recover

I have included a map where the land mines were placed, and as you can see, they were very strategically placed and should be easy enough to avoid, even for the very young. Although it may be possible for a few of our citizens, children and adults alike, to be hurt, ruined for life, or possibly killed in the project, it is for the greater good. And our own Mayor, Winfield, can attest to the land mine’s effectiveness, as he was wandering around PaxLair, and came upon a newly buried safety mine, it is believed his leg can be saved.

PaxLair is truly a much safer place to live, thanks to the hard working Treasurer and all around good Citizen John Duke. Remember his motto: Keeping PaxLair Safe, Isn’t Really A Priority.

PaxLair Cartographers to Use Area Names on Maps Print
2005 News

Sunday, 15 May 2005

MAYOR'S OFFICE, PAXLAIR CITY, FELUCCA - Today, Mayor Winfield ventured out around the City of PaxLair trying to get a sense of the people and the buildings in the area.  He found many houses, some where multiple houses were associated with one or more guilds.  Therefore, to simplify meeting PaxLair's neighbors and knowing where they are, Mayor Winfield instructed the PaxLair cartographers to refer to different local areas by names of meadows or coastlines.

PaxLair City with Local Areas

These areas include:

  • South Meadow (where the main portion of the PaxLair City exists)
  • Central Meadow (north of the main PaxLair City area beyond the North Arena Tower)
  • East Meadow (towards the Kaar Barashalu Orc Fort)
  • North Meadow (ending at the dense forest to the north before the north coast)
  • West Coast (where the area meets the sea to the west)

"These area names will help us meet and greet our neighbors," Mayor Winfield said looking over a freshly drawn map.  "Conceivably, each meadow or coastal area could be a town unto itself.  It would be wonderful to have neighboring towns this close to PaxLair, or even have people in these areas consider becoming a part of the City of PaxLair.  Either way, names given to physical geographical areas or regions helps us navigate across our Realm and our local areas."

Winfield went on to explain that just because a house is in one of the named areas, it does not mean it is automatically a member or assumed to be a member of PaxLair; that would be too presumptuous.  It is a choice of PaxLair and the house owner to become involved in PaxLair.  But, the person's house may be in the PaxLair City as a geographical reference point and, for convenience, listed as such in various area directories and maps.

EqualizeR II Dueling

Ahh death and destruction, what more can you ask for on a friday evening? The Friday Fight Night is a weekly competition hosted by the Chesapeake Fight Club, inviting all comers to test their mights against any who show. There are only three rules: No Mounts/Pets/Summons, No Pre-Casting, and No Hiding/Stealthing, everything else being good for whatever it is you need to do to claim the championship title, honorable or not.

For the Friday Fight Night VII on May 6th, a small crowd gathered to challenge the April Monthly Champion, EqualizeR II of [!C!]. The combatants looking to dethrone EqualizeR were Lissa Eldi [*V*], Cross Macleod [PV], OJ Simpson, and Arig'lak the dastardly [Orc]. The competition was relatively swift, with newcomers Lissa Eldi and Cross Macleod showing much strength and durability, but not quite enough as it were Arig'lak and EqualizeR who were in the finals. EqualizeR had already defeated Arig'lak, as it had been in all past duels, and the Orc needed a win to survive. But alas, it was to no avail as EqualizeR easily dropped his opponent, claimed the weekly championship once more, and challenged all comers.

EqualizeR and Dragor fighting for the title

On Friday May 13th, EqualizeR returned once more to reclaim what was rightfully his, as a larger crowd from the previous week organized to take his title, among them: Arig'lak & Ga'kuct of [Orc]. Dragor & Claire of [BiC], Cross Macleod [PV], Amber Sky [TDA],  and Masamune. All of the competitors fought well, and gave exciting duels, but there could be only one, as it dwindled down EqualizeR and Dragor fighting for the top spot. EqualizeR had set himself apart from the competition in all the fight nights and Dragor had distinguished himself tonight, claiming a spot in the finals, and defeating all but one of his opponents, EqualizeR, the only one left he had to beat. But EqualizeR saw differently, and after an exchange of blows and spells it was again EqualizeR who took the championship and sealed himself in the record books, winning his 2nd straight Fight Night and his third overall (counting the April monthly).

Will anyone stand up and take down EqualizeR? You can join in the competition for free, there are no entry fees on the weekly Fight Nights and all comers are welcomed. You can find out more about the Chesapeake Fight Club by going Here, and you can find out how to get to the Weekly Fight Nights by going Here. Hope to see you at the competition!

Interesting Morning in Ilshenar Print

SE DUNGEON, SPIRITUALITY, ILSHENAR - It started out as a peaceful day in Ilshenar.  I, Lord Gareth of the Knights who say *NI*, was fighting blood elementals when Wolverine of AKB came into my sight.

The Death of a Golden Balron in Ilshenar

"I think it would be fun to kill Lords of the Abyss with the powerful spell of Energy Vortexes," Wolverine said to me.  I figured why not?

Wolverine and I went into the room and attacked the Lords, killing them quickly and laughing. Wolverine had EVs casted while I used my pets. After laughing at one of them falling to the ground, Wolverine grunted in pain and screamed!  All of the sudden this golden Balron appeared. We laughed until the Balron attacked my pets almost killing them.

We both ran for our lives. Wolverine fell to the Balron's hands while I kept running. I returned and brought Wolverine back to life again. Then we decided to just use EVs--simple enough. I stabled my pets and returned. We summoned four EVs onto him thinking it would be enough, but it wasn't. We kept dying over and over ... well you get the point. Upon one of our deaths he looted part of Wolverine's armor, my reagents, and a chest that one of the blood elementals "gave" us.

Being noticably in trouble, we sent a pigeon into hasty flight with a small note to get help. While it flew I went and got my hyru and Wolverine asked for help from Sir Lancelot of D.A. Once I got back we put our hyrus onto the beast while Wolverine casted EVs. My pigeon flew all around and finally landed on Mayor Winfield's desk. Winfield then gathered his reagents from his desk in PaxLair City and came quickly to our aid.

A few minutes into the battle Wolverine, Sir Lancelot and I heard a horse running up from the north end of the dungeon. We saw a man in a golden hat turn the corner.  We did not know who it was yet. He charged at the golden beast head on ready to take it down, until the beast punched him and he fell off his horse with a death scream. Once we got closer we saw it was Mayor Winfield. One sudden hit from this beast sent him into the ghostly world of black and white.

After another minutes of a gruesome battle of spells and several hard hits, the Golden Balron finally fell to the ground. We gathered our items, brought Winfield back to life and made our way out of the dungeon.

CITY HALL, PAXLAIR OUTPOST, TOKUNO - Tonight, Mayor Winfield added several guilds to the PaxLair Alliance as one of his three short-term focus efforts.  Immediately following the Weekly PaxLair meeting, he called upon Alliance leadership and cleared the paths for new Alliance members.

Gating to a new allied guild's tower

CURRENT ALLIED GUILDS:
PaxLair Initiates [PxI]
Paladins of Virtue [PV]
Army Of The Dragon [ATD]
The Merkan Empire [ME!]
City of PaxLair
Knights of PaxLair [PxK]
Comfortably Disturbed [C=D]

NEW ALLIED GUILDS:
The Knights Who Say [*NI*]
Ancient Knights of Britannia [AKB]
Artisans of Chesapeake [ArC]
Blue Light Tavern [BLT]
Chesapeake Fight Club [CFC]
Drunken Friars of Chesapeake [Fryr]
Knights of the Zodiac [KOZ]
PaxLair Mail Service [MAIL]
The Fellowship of Peace [TFP]

This Alliance expansion enables increased adventuring, dungeon hunting, tournaments, champ spawn fighting, and defensive capabilities.  It also enables more abilities to craft fine weapons, entertain at great taverns, become more spiritually enlightened, and of course deliver the mail.  Mayor Winfield thanks all who recently joined the PaxLair Alliance!

Mayor Winfield's other two short-term focus areas involve 1) increasing activity in PaxLair City and Dragons Watch in Felucca.  Already, several houses have been re-configured for combat in PaxLair City and stand ready to be tested.  Mayor Winfield also expects to hold several shard-wide invited events in PaxLair City in a few weeks.  2) Bringing the PaxLair Tokuno Outpost into the mainstream of a township for all to enjoy.  Already there are several new buildings on the road east of the Homare-jima moongate.  New housing include a forge, the re-constructed Blue Light Tavern, a City Hall, a Post Office, and a strange park with a partially built tower of fire.

PaxLair continues to welcome all peoples across the Realm and seeks to do all it can within the Chesapeake Community.

Testing out the new Mailbox

Tonight Richard MacBeth, contracted out by the newly established PaxLair Post Office Division, assembled mailboxes for a number of citizens all the way from PaxLair in Felucca to the Outpost in Tokuno.

The mail system, an idea proposed by Lord Gareth will provide 100% secure mailboxes to citizen houses around PaxLair and its outposts and will allow for letters to be sent via a post office that is currently under construction near the Tea House at the Tokuno Outpost.

The system works by utilizing individual keys for each box, then the mailman has a set as well as the owner of the house.  Then the box is set to "Anyone" access.  For more security the mailman can be friended and the access can be set to "Friends".  A notification system (apple on top of the box) is also in place providing that the mailman is friended.

The mail system is still being tested out but should be fully operational in the coming weeks.

Beware your PaxLair taxes!!

John Duke & Neo Of Lothlore take the big win

Anton's very special, and always sensational, Monthly Special was held on a new night this week, Tuesday! Looking to force it's competition to use brains and brawn to complete a seemingly easy task, but turned out to be much more difficult than advertised.

What did the contestants have to do? What else?? Guide a packhorse safely out of a dungeon using anything in their powers to do so. The contest had three stages, with each dungeon getting more difficult each stage. Point were rewarded to the first group to escort their horses out receiving 3 points, second place got 2 points, and third place received 1 point with points of all three heats tallied in the end to determine the victor of the evening.

The first area that had packhorses requiring assistance was level 3 Shame! There was much destruction from the get go and ended with no one able to lead their horses out of the dungeon. Up next was just outside the Lich room of Covetous, and again the contestants were met with defeat as all packhorses were slaughtered.

With two rounds down and only one to go, the victors of this round would take the win, and anticipation built as Anton gated to the final round, the Orc Dungeon! Contestants gated in and started leading their horses, but John Duke and Neo Of Lothlore smoked the competition, leading their horse out and took first place for the round and the victory of the night.

Anton's First Aid Kit

This being John Duke and Neo Of Lothlore's 3rd group victory at a Anton Special, Anton rewarded them with the gift of the evening: A First Aid Kit which included heal and cure potions, bandaids, and 100k in gold! But this being their 3rd victory, Anton included a special item, his own, aged old hat for, as he called it, "Pulling off the Hat trick." Many thanks to Anton of [KCR] for hosting this event and the many others he has hosted and will host. You can find out how to get involved in Anton's Monthly Specials by going Here and find out more about the Red Wolfe Cafe Here.

The No Snagas Allowed Orc Meeting

It had been nearly a week since I had written down Ga’kuct’s response to Tancred Redstar’s proposition of peace between the Orcs and the Town of Gyldenfeld, when Te’kug found me, grabbed me by the neck and dragged me to the Warbozz’s office. A message had been received from Tancred, and again my translating services were required, and as the Orc slave, it was my duty, nay, my privilege to do so.

The note had been formally written, with sealed wax and all, it was indeed a note from Tancred Redstar, Mayor of the town of Gyldenfeld, clearly a response to the Orcs demands. In the missive, Tancred agreed to the earlier terms sent by the Orcs, only if the following conditions were met:

  • The town of Gyldenfeld will receive 1,000,000 gold weekly from the Orcs, hand delivered.
  • Each home in Gyldenfeld will receive one Orcish servant to slave, bathe, and work their weasely little arses off.
  • A donation of one major Artifact will be donated per week to the Gyldenfeld armory.
  • All Orcs will wear a required outfit of pink while inside the Gyldenfeld town limits
  • The Orcs will mine the local mountains for 10,000 iron ingots a week to help sustain the town’s economy and craftsman’s trade. The ingots are to be freshly mined and never bought.
  • Finally, all the floors of the Red Wolf Café will require scrubbing, preferably with a toothbrush, but as Orcs, you may not know what one is, so you better find one.

Upon hearing of the notes contents, Ga’kuct did the only reasonable thing; he ripped the message into pieces and threw them into the fire with a quick throwing of ‘defecation’ to seal the deal. He then called Tek to a meeting of Orcish proportions and threw me, their humble servant, over the Orc walls. No snagas allowed I suppose.

I was unable to tell what was being said, the amount of grunts were just undecipherable, but I think it goes without saying, that revenge upon the allies of Gyldenfeld will be swift and merciless. Watch out Gyldenfeld, you’ve been warned!

Trammel "Benefactor of Britain" Statue in Britain

BRITAIN, FELUCCA AND TRAMMEL, CHESAPEAKE - The Humanoid Invasion of Britain came to a close today after the Chesapeakean Army fought the invaders every night since April 19, 2005, a total of 13 straight days involving more than 80 people.  The West Britain Bank peddlers also quickly returned from the Luna Bank to sell their wares once again.

The Chesapeake Army met at the usual 9 PM ET time this eve at the Chamber of Virtue and discussed the upcoming Victory Celebration to be held on Wednesday, May 4, 2005 at 9 PM ET in the King's Men Theatre in Britain, Trammel.  The Army also posed for group portraits around the "Benefactor of Britain" Statue located at the Gung Farmer's Bridge, just SW of the West Britain Bank.

The Trammel "Benefactor of Britain" Statue had these statistics:

Value: 1,462,893 Gold
Destroyed Forces: 24 Times
Generals Killed: 11,685
Minions Killed: 1,263,366

Felucca "Benefactor of Britain" Statue in Britain

The Felucca "Benefactor of Britain" Statue  had these statistics:

Value: 199,266 Gold
Destroyed Forces: 1 Time
Generals Killed: 1,377
Minions Killed: 126,162

While many saw the Defense of Britain as a competition for statistics, others saw it for deeper meanings--that of community, strategy, comraderie, and just plain fun.  There should be much news reporting on the Stratics Skypage and other places soon, as well as here at PaxLair.

Chesapeakeans continue to meet every Wednesday night at 9 PM ET for the Chesapeake Community Night.  Perhaps with the new found friends and loyalties due to the strong defense against these invasions, the people of Chesapeake will continue to join together to set goals and meet new challenges.

Teamwork at its best!

NW OF BRITAIN, TRAMMEL - The Chesapeake Army is still currently engaged in its defense of Britain as I pen this scroll.  Tonight, we attempted a new tactic to go against the enemy from their rear, near the mountains.  While I thought this would be a way to out-think the enemy, they quickly saw our plan and reinforced against us at the mountains.

Therefore, we quickly had to regroup and attack from the south at the blacksmith shop.  I have to hand it to our party leaders and others on staff at the HQs at the Chamber of Virtue in Britain, to get the word out to our army quickly.  We changed our attack approach in less than 10 minutes.  That was a great feat!  Thank you all!  Great teamwork!

And, as we continue to push the enemy back to the mountains of Despise, I was able to further see our teamwork.  As shown in this painting, several are ressurecting a fallen soldier while another is calling to further get people into parties.  We have certainly found that our parties help in our coordination, and for everyone on the battlefield, whether in party or not, people come out quickly to help our fallen heros and protect them.

We continue against the invasion forces each night until the invasion ceases.  We will always look at having new strategies and tactics and finding more ways to battle the invaders.  I will be starting to plan our Victory Celebration, nominally set for the day after our statue in Britain appears.  We will attempt to hold this at the well-known Theatre in Britain where we celebrate each night after our victories.  That theatre now has special meaning to all of us.

Dragonspeed and let's keep doing it!!!

Winfield, old man and Mayor of PaxLair.

A General Under Attack

BRITAIN, TRAMMEL, CHESAPEAKE - Tonight, Friday, April 22, 2005, many people showed their courage and valor once again against the Despise Army.  This was the best strategy, tactics, and progression I have seen so far.  We were well organized, patient, and moved forward with purpose!  Tonight makes success number 6 !! (at least)

We assembled as in previous nights at 9 PM ET at the Chamber of Virtue in East Britain, Trammel, Chesapeake.  This time, we did not send an advance defensive party because the enemy had only progressed to the cemetary, not the blacksmith shop as in the previous night.

Between 9 and 9:15 PM, we assembled Parties by having leaders stand on a Virtue Altar and announce they were accepting party members.  This helped party everyone for the assault to come.  Crimzinn also gave out Petals of Trinsic to all who wanted them; we lined up cooperatively on the west wall of the Chamber of Virtue to receive the petals.  Thanks Crimzinn!

Lord Tancred (not Tancred Redstar) offered a book of tactics, which I will review and publish very soon.

Nearing 9:15 PM, we discussed last minute strategy.  Since we only had about 25 people at the start, I announced we would focus on one Generals' location (spawn point) at a time until the Ogre Lord General appeared and the enemy diminished.  In practice, I saw the fighters move forward to the next Generals' location towards the mountains leaving a team to clean up the remaining few Generals at the previous spot. This allowed for maximum energy, timing, and effect without getting too far ahead (which would deplete our resources and delay our advances).

We started just south of the Cemetary at 9:15 PM ET; the enemy had not entered the actual City of Britain.

While all the Britain/Sosarian Army advanced, I recruited a few people at the Skara and Luna Banks.  Thanks to those who came! You were extremely important to the shard's success!

Now for strategy decisions that need to be made...

Tuesday (Apr 19) and Wednesday (Apr 20)

Assembly Point / HQs: Chamber of Virtue, Britain, Trammel

9PM ET assembly, strategy, and set up groups.

-- Need to get people together to group up, pick their starting points, and establish communications between groups.
-- Need to be able to get ALL people into parties, even those showing up solo if possible.
-- Don't show up right at 9:30 PM, or you may be running solo and not know the last minute strategies.

9:30 PM ET launch simultaneous attack

-- We need to launch together; single excursions tend to not kill the generals fast enough.

Solstice and EqualizeR duke it out

The Fifth weekly Fight Night had nine combatants battling for this week’s top spot, attempting to dethrone the Monthly and 4th weekly winner, Solstice of [!C!], who returned to defend his title. Among the combatants were EqualizeR II, Athanasios Uriah, Solstice, Te’kug, Arig’lak, Ga’kuct, Kain, Duke Nukem, and Thelordroller. It was also tonight that a new record was set by Arig’lak of [Orc], killing his opponent in 8 Seconds, setting a new CFC speed record.

The competition began with the Orcs taking heavy losses and EqualizeR and Solstice taking the top spots until it came down to just them, and only one could advance to the final round. Solstice was 3-1 against EqualizeR and was ready to make it 4-1, but in an excellent duel of spell for spell, EqualizeR took the victory and sent Solstice to the loser’s bracket for the first time in his entire Fight Night career.

With the loser’s bracket completed and Athanasios arriving to the final round, the final match had arrived, coming down to EqualizeR II and Athanasios Uriah. With EqualizeR undefeated so far tonight, it would take two victories on Athanasios’ behalf to claim the victory on the night. The two came out fighting, but EqualizeR came out fighting harder, killing Athanasios in 15 Seconds and taking his first Fight Night victory.

Thank you very much to Blue Collar of [CFC] for hosting this tournament and to everyone who came out tonight.

The next Fight Night will be Tomorrow! Friday, April 15th, at 9:00 PM Eastern. There is no entry fee and brackets are made on the spot. The Friday Fight Night is hosted by the Chesapeake Fight Club and keeps statistics of all participants Here and you can find out how to get to the Fight Night location by going Here. Thank you, and don’t miss us out!

Gyldenfeld and Orc to Peace? Print
2005 News

Ga'kuct is angered by the peace proposal

While humbly doing my slave work for the Orcs at the Snaga Hut, Klug da Stu Makr (the personal Cook to the Orcs) grabbed me and told me Ga'kuct demanded my presence. I, of course abidded, you don't disobey an Orcish order!

While Klug had been traveling the woods around Gyldenfeld, he came across a member of the RedStar family who presented Klug with a message. Klug was, unfortunately, unable to read the message since he was never taught how to read, and he took it immediately to the Warbozz, Ga'kuct. Ga'kuct, either not wanting to read it or also not able to read had called upon me, their own human slave, to read and explain what the message had said.

The message was from the Mayor of Gyldenfeld himself, Tancred RedStar! In the missive, Tancred looked to set up a meeting with the Orcs, who had recently established a fort on Gyldenfeld's southern border, in hopes of coming to a peace and understanding with their new neighbors, and become friends.

Once Ga'kuct had heard what the message was for, he exploded in anger, and I was barely able to take the painting you see here before they killed me. The thought of peace with humans sent Ga'kuct into a rage I had yet to see, but he soon regained himself and ressurrected me. He told me that the only way they would meet with Tancred RedStar is if the following conditions were met:

*All Elves, Vampires, and Kobolds within and surrounding the town of Gyldenfeld will be killed on sight and their possessions destroyed.

*The town must fund the importing of Female Orcs at four females per every male Orc.

*The town will pay a weekly fee of 500,000 shinies if they wish any peace to stand.

*At any point in time, the Orcs may take control of any building in town and call it their owns, it will be expected of the owners to hand over any buildings claimed by the Orcs without incident. Any resistance to do so, will result in war.

*The only law is Orcish law, and the chain of command is Wargod first, Orcs second, anyone within Gyldenfeld town limits will obey and understand these laws.

Until all of the above demands are met, no meeting will occurr. I have yet to hear a response from the town, but be sure to check here for the latest news.

Solstice and EqualizeR II fight for the title

The Fourth Weekly Friday Fight Night was held April 1st, at the PaxLair North Arena with 12 competitors vying for the top position. The Fight Night is a weekly event with only two rules, No Pets and No Precasting, anything else is good for destruction. This week's twelve competitor's included multiple Champs members, a couple Orcs, and two members of [T&M], all looking to dethrone the monthly victor, Solstice of [!C!] who took home 200k at the last tournament.

The competition started fierce, with the Champs members distinguishing themselves from the others early on and it ultimately ended with the final four being Solstice, EqualizeR II, Zan, and Sadist, all of Champs [!C!]. Zan and Sadist fought bitterly for 4th and 3rd, with Sadist coming out on top, while EqualizeR and Solstice met in the final round. Solstice had defeated EqualizeR a few matches earlier, and since it was double elimination, EqualizeR had to beat the undefeated Solstice twice. The two met head on matching spell for spell and blow for blow until EqualizeR dealt Solstice his first lost in his entire Fight Club career, taking down the reigning champion. But since Solstice had yet to lose, they met again, in the final match to determine the week's victor. Again they clashed in an amazing duel, as the points became impossible to count as both of their lives jumped up and down non-stop, but it was Solstice who dealt the killing blow, taking his title once more.

Thanks very much to everyone who came out and supported Fight Night, I was the unfortunate substitute referee this week, and we will be having the owner and regulator of the Fight Club [Blue Collar] back this Friday, so everything will go even better with him there. Great job everyone, and don't forget to keep fighting.

The Friday Fight Nights are hosted by the Chesapeake Fight Club every Friday night at 8:30 Eastern in PaxLair and will be occurring again this Friday, April 8th at 8:30 Eastern. They keep regular standings and statistics and there is no entry fee on the weekly fights, like this one. The current records can be viewed Here and you can find out more information if you'd like to join in the fighting.

The winner's giving the crowd a show

The first monday of the month event, annually hosted by Anton of the Keepers of the Crimson Rose [KCR] was held this monday night, challenging the entrants to a duel of the wits. But not your normal, run of the mill wits, your wits, at catering, in what Anton so delicately titled "The Springtime Catering Competition and festival to commemorate freeing of the city of Britain from the invasion and celebrating the coming spring"

The event challenged three groups of three to set up and serve the best meal they could delivered with menu and atmosphere included in a twenty minute time frame. The teams consisted of the "Lothlore's" [Neo Of Lothlore, Magni, and Ilisharil], DV8 [Grimlar Mithrax, Lord Gerath, and Shyann], and "Sweet's Night Club" [Shavannah, Kara, and Nelvis]

'Lothore's' stepped on the fancy foot, looking to give the judges the fanciest meal they ever had while 'Sweet's Night Club' gave the judges the Tokuno experience. But it was team 'DV8' that took first place and the prize with their Necromancer theme, serving Bloody fingers in a bowl, slow roasted human, and bones on the ground.

Congratulations to the winners and special thanks to Anton for hosting a unique and fun event.
