September 22nd: We will be heading to the labyrinth in Malas to try out hand at the bosses. Raptalons can be found in this area, so if anyone has a tamer they would like to bring, the group can help cover them while they tame.

I have heard many adventurers talk of this place and its many dangers. Minotaur seem to be prevalent here from the information I’ve been able to gather. Make sure to keep an eye out too for parrots as they appear as loot on the creatures here as well as minor artifacts from the boss creatures. The group will be gathering at the Skara Brae Community Center in Trammel at 9pm est and we will be gating to the labyrinth from there.

"It’s come to our attention that thieves (true scum of the Earth, seriously, just horrible, horrible people) are hacking into email accounts of UO players. Once they have an email address and password, they use that to get a player’s UO account name and password. If you see a password request email in your inbox that you didn’t request, you should immediately change the password on your email account and your UO accounts. Also, for all players, it would be wise to make sure your email addresses have complex passwords involving numbers and punctuation marks. Don’t use a simple password that is easy to guess. Free email services offered by Yahoo, Hotmail and Gmail are especially vulnerable so be extra vigilant if you use one of those. Also, you might also use an email address with your UO account separate from the one you use in public. That would make your UO account extra safe."

From Super Administrator of PaxLair.Com.  The best prevention is for you to use your own ISP's email account (not a hotmail, yahoo, netscape, etc.) account for your admin email account for your UO accounts; or use another account obtained in some other manner (set up a secondary email account with your ISP account).  We even advise that you do NOT use your UO Email account on this PaxLair.Com service either, as no public web service is 100% safe (nothing seems to be these days).  Use your hotmail type email account for paxlair.com access and keep your personal email for use with uo.com accounts.  This would just be a safe practice.

Also, never, never give out your UO password or any other password to an usolicited request, like over Email.  Be wary of ANYTHING that asks you to verify your account information for any kind of service.  Most if not all reputable services never ask you to verify account information through online systems.  And again, never ever give out your passwords.

September 15th: Ingeniously Drawn Treasure maps! Got a map you need dug up? Level 5 maps will also be on tap, with free loot for all should we run out of level 6 maps. So if anyone has a map they would like to have excavated for them, please bring it along. We will be gathering at the Skara Brae Community Center in Trammel for 9pm est. My associate Kethus Ellindale will again be leading the group and using his hiryu as “bait” for the angry guardians of the chests.

The rules for the hunt are pretty simple. Guardians of the chest are fair game to everyone. The owner of the chest loots it and has first claim on what ever is inside. If the owner does not want the items, then there will be a bag available for them to dump items into. This bag is then fair game for anyone else on the hunt.

Here we document a last visit by Mayor Winfield to the Interest Game Master (IGM) enhanced building known as the Orc's Breath Public Forge in PaxLair.

The forge was donated to PaxLair by Driftwood of The Band guild when he left the Realm. It was originally built around February 1998 and blessed with IGM locked down items around June 1998.

The forge served many blacksmiths in older eras when many forges were private.  This forge was always public and people across the land could smelt their ore and craft their weapons, then sell them to people on the streets of PaxLair.

A strange message appeared on the PaxOku Blue Light Tavern (BLT) Message Board. What could it mean?  It is written by the Phantom of PaxOku !!

I saw the Phantom briefly near the message board. It said is protects the BLT.  There's a lot more to learn about this Phantom of Oku and it may appear from time to time. Who knows for sure.

September 8th: This Thursday we will be making our way back to the Blood Dungeon in Ilshenar to hunt paragon Balrons. My associate Kethus will be leading the expedition and is bringing his Hiryu along.

We will be leaving from the Skara Brae Community center in Trammel around 9pm. From there we will be taking the moongate into Ilshenar. Make sure to bring your demon slayers, or your favorite demon slaying wyrm!

Many people often ask how to get to PaxLair.  Since PaxLair is in several locations, we wanted to offer an entry point at the PaxLair Tea House at the end of the housing road near the Kitsune Forest in Homare-Jima, Tokuno.  At the Tea House, several other runes get you to PaxLair, Felucca; PaxVallum, Felucca; and our friends at the Red Wolf Cafe, Gyldenfeld, Trammel and the Skara Brae Community Center, Trammel.

The Blue Light Tavern is our usual lounge when we are not out adventuring or questing.  So if you want to mark a rune, mark it at the Blue Light Tavern or Tea House and we'll keep the rune libraries up to date.  The Tea House also has this ethereal sky page location on it.

MAYOR'S OFFICE, PAXLAIR, FELUCCA - September 5, 2005

Mayor Winfield declared this afternoon that the PaxLair weekly meeting tonight at 9PM ET at the Blue Light Tavern in PaxOku will be short and hopefully lead right into an adventure into the lands.  This adventure will likely be focused around the "Mondain's Legacy" into uncharted lands, dungeons, or quests.

Mayor Winfield told the press in an interview this afternoon, "I hope to gather as many people as possible tonight. There is much to explore.  I'm also interested in the Elven population and they are all welcome in PaxLair anytime.  While I don't explore much myself and don't claim to understand many things in the Realm, we do have plenty of people in PaxLair who do. So tonight, I hope we can venture out with courage and strength."

September 1st: We will be making our way to dungeon Doom and the gauntlet. Its been a while since we’ve traveled there and I will have books on hand listing what each of the bosses are weak against. I will also have a keg of conflagration for people to fill their potions with. Conflagration potions are handy for revealing the Shadow Knights while they are stealthing about. I’d like everyone to meet at the Skara Brae Community Center for 8:30 pm est. We will be gating to the Doom entrance from there.

However I have word that there may be a hunt for one of the Books of Sin Thursday night. If that is the case, then after the hunt I will have more ancient fishing nets and regular fishing nets available.

TOWN HALL, PAXLAIR, FELUCCA - August 29, 2005

Here are some important announcements from last night's PaxLair meeting:

- Red Wolf Cafe event, 9 PM ET, Tuesday, Aug 30 - Go and get runes marked at new dungeon locations and other notable places.

- Blue Light Tavern Grand Opening and Event, 7 PM ET, Wednesday, Aug 31 - Meet at the BLT in PaxOku, Tokuno and go on a special sailing event to be the first to find lost treasure.

- Elves entering the Realm are encouraged to reach Elydir.  See the UO Stratics Chesapeake board.  Meet Elydir at Zento Bank, Tuesday, Aug 30, 7 PM ET.

- Possible Search for Book of Sin quest on Thursday night.  Meet at Chesapeake Community Center at 9 PM ET.  If quest does not occur, Visago and ^E^ will take us on and adventure or two.

We will venture to write the complete news as soon as possible, but these are some time-sensitive announcements.

The daring tournament will consist of the Pankration (Duel of Agony), Myaloium (Battle of Wits), and Oploium (Battle of Weapons).

UPDATE: Aug 30, 2005 - Tournament will be held at the Chaos Shrine in Felucca, just WSW of PaxLair.

August 25th: Ancient and Regular net toss. Donation Ancient nets appreciated. If you have a net you’d be willing to donate, please contact me. The scheduled time for this one will be 8pm est and will run until 10pm est. I currently have 3 ancient nets and a large pile of regulars for our enjoyment. We will be meeting at the Skara Brae Community center and then heading down to the docks to board the ship. In the hold will be a supply of bandages, and a kegs of heal/cure/refresh potions for the group to use as needed.

Depending on space on deck, we may need a volunteer to launch a second ship.

BLUE LIGHT TAVERN, PAXOKU, TOKUNO - August 24, 2005

The time was nearly 7PM ET on Wednesday, August 24, 2005.  The people of the Realm just came in from a hard day's work, sat down in their homes, and started their ethereal journey to the Blue Light Tavern (BLT) for its grand opening.

Oh no!  A Patch Race!  What kind of event was this?  People waited as their beings were still asleep and the clock on the wall passed 7 PM, and then 8 PM.  Finally some were able to struggle through the muddy lands and waters to reach the BLT, but not many.  So many hard working people looked forward to a relaxing evening at the famous tavern.

Those that were able to finally arrive delved into very spirited conversation and toasting.  In fact, there was Gareth, Anton, Tancred Redstar, Lissa Eldi, DutchessVanHorn, Winmere, Elijah Cross, and Snowlock. Even The Gatekeeper and the evil Valtos the Void showed up.  They all talked about buildings, events, balance of the Realm, evil versus good, and changes coming to the Realm.

Alas though, the infamous Patch Race took too long for many to come so the BLT Grand Opening will happen officially on August 31, 2005 at 7:30 PM ET.

The Blue Light Tavern (BLT) in PaxOku, Tokuno (Homare-Jima, big house at NE end of road of houses, on north side of road) will hold a Grand Opening at 7PM ET, Wednesday, August 24, 2005.  Many festivities are planned.  Proprietor is Gareth.

Mayor Winfield is calling a meeting of the PaxLair Alliance after the brief PaxLair meeting on Monday, August 15, 2005.  The PaxLair meeting starts at the PaxLair Town Hall in Felucca at 9 PM ET, and the Alliance meeting will start right after that meeting.

All PaxLair Alliance members are invited to the Alliance meeting, but only Alliance members.  The meeting will be held in the Alliance Hall.

A main topic is Black Dragon Clan's (BDC) interest to join the PaxLair Alliance.  Mayor Winfield desires feedback from Alliance guild leaders and members prior to making his decision.  Winfield has known BDC for a long time with respect to the Falconer's Inn, Pilgrimage, and Juo'nar Trinsic Wars.

Other important topics have also come up that affect the alliance.  These range from combat to quests.

DWB TOWER, FELUCCA - August 11, 2005

The Mayor was welcomed by Vorador, Medivh, Zigmund, Steve Dave, I.M.Fletcher, and Ferago.

DwB continues to have a significant presence in the Realm with a close-knit group of veterans and new folk.  They have ideas for the future and look forward to focusing their energies in various ways throughout the Realm.

SOSARIA - August 5, 2005

Once upon a time in Sosaria long, long ago -- before the Shattered Gem -- Elves and Humans lived peacefully together exchanging gifts and stories.  When the Gem of Immortality shattered, many Elves died and their immortality reduced to mortality.  A few Elves survived on the Shards of the Gem and over time their bloodlines comingled with humans.  This reduced the pureblood Elves to stories, fables, and legends.

Soon, a prophesy will become true and the Elves will return!  Exactly when is not known, but we listen carefully to the sages of Sosaria.

ARENA TOWER, PAXLAIR, FELUCCA - July 29, 2005

So the time has come to put a good thing to rest.  Many good nights were had by all a few bad ones to add in.

We ran fights within PaxLair for a little under six months.  Things went well in the beginning with attendance and peace at high marks.  As the weeks went by the attendance began to drop and a few bad eggs started to show up.  Maybe there needed to be a bi-weekly fight instead of weekly, maybe a monthly instead of a bi-weekly.

At this time it is really unknown, but as for me, my time has come to seek retirement.  My days were long as a miner, I think.  I had an accident not long ago and can’t remember anything before then.  All I know is, I was a miner turned fight director.  And maybe someone in the future will pick up where I left off and continue this event.  Maybe it will be put to rest with the many other great things we’ve come to know and love within this realm.  I wish you all well in the future.

PAXLAIR, FELUCCA - July 28, 2005

The Shadow, a nefarious person from another 'shard' is intent on claiming all eight Books of Sin for his own.  He has two as well: the Book of Pride that he bought from an artifacts dealer and the Book of Covetous.

These books of Sin are said to possess great power and corrupt people's minds.  PaxLair master mages, necromancers, paladins, and scribes will examine the Books of Shame and Destard.  Eric the Red advised that great care must be taken when around the Books.  They are very powerful and mysterious.

Eric the Red and Melody Adelle come from a distant shard called LS and arrange for the books to be found, but it is up to the people of Chesapeake to find these books.  These events usually take place at 9PM ET at the Skara Brae Community Center in Trammel (for the good people) and the small tent west of the Umbra Bank (for the evil people).  Both sides then go out simultaneously to find the book before the others side does.  Announcements about this quest are made at the Wednesday Skara Brae Community Center meetings and adventures at 9 PM ET.

CASANDREAL (Near Yew), TRAMMEL -- July 23, 2005

The town's borders are expanding and all houses will soon have the symbol of Casandreal, the torch house sign.  This will better show which houses are part of Casandreal along with its borders.

Casandreal is an old town that once had a large guard force.  That force helped defend PaxLair, Mythndale, and Aryslan many times in the past.  They had old adversaries known as the Wraiths and Council of Vampires.  The guard force and its guard house is also being rebuilt.  The Casandreal guard guild is noted as [.C.]

There are also Casandreal outposts in Malas and Zento.  There is also a castle in the Cove area called the Dream Palace.  Still others are in the Trinsic swamps and lich area south of Yew.  And even more on Ice Isle in Felucca and another in Ocllo.

Casandreal plans to have a tour of their town soon.  People are invited to come to the town anytime.

SKARA BRAE, TRAMMEL - July 23, 2005

When asked what happened when she failed at stealing the item, she said, "[I] did not die, but monsters gave [me] chase."

Roma proceeded to demonstrate the abilities of a well trained thief to move around the area at will, unseen.  There was a time when the reporter thought there were at least two Romas because they appeared so quickly in different places.  But rest assured, this is only the ability of a grandmaster thief.

When asked what she would like to say to people of the Realm, Roma said, "Be kind to each other.  Be kind People!"

Footnote: This is the first article by me, Vaul Adlatus, Wandering Scribe of PaxLair.  Mayor Winfield trained me in this news reporting and assigned me to start in Skara Brae interviewing people passing through.  I hope my first short article gives a sample of what I can do.  I will be around as much as I can to report news, do interviews, and just enjoy some casual conversations. -- Vaul Adlatus

Lord Nilbog came into the PaxLair Mage Tower while Mayor Winfield was busy doing his daily paperwork.  There, in the Mayor's Office, Nilbog said he was leaving the Realm for a distant land called Camelot.  Upon hearing this, a tear formed in Winfield's eye while also hope and prosperity for his long time friend.

Within the office, Lord Nilbog gave Winfield a truely rare artifact--one of Nilbog's famous pure black Wizard Hats.  Such artifacts become more charished to many than all the material artifacts of the Realm for they are created by friends and companions.

Then, upon the Mage Tower roof a final ceremony commenced, as Nilbog layed his hands upon the Ankh of Virtue.

Mayor Winfield offered a few words.  "Lord Nilbog, you served the Realm faithfully for years upon years, always keeping with the true spirit of the Realm.  There are times when we must all pass beyond this Realm to seek greater adventures.  And I see that time has come for you, my long time friend.  Remember us well here in the Realm, and in PaxLair too.  For we will remember you and all you've done here."

Then, with a bow from Winfield and a nod from Lord Nilbog, Winfield said with a tear in his eye, "Upon the Virtues then, your spirit is commended.  Farewell my old friend, Nilbog."  ... and Lord Nilbog disappeared into the mists, not to be seen again.

MYRINA HERON'S OFFICE, EAST BRITAIN, TRAMMEL, CHESAPEAKE - about 6:15 PM ET, July 14, 2005

Before the others arrived, Zaire spoke to Winmere and Winfield.  "I'm Zaire, Friend of Myrina Heron and keeper of this office," the pixie said in a tounge that humans can understand.  "I am dusting and looking for some information--just a name in one of these books.  I forgot it."

Zaire also said she was rescued by Myrina Heron and the Royal Guard from a terrible spiders web.  It is recalled that this happened some time ago, and there may be information in other publications about that rescue operation.

After this brief conversation, Zaira said, "I must go, but perhaps I shall be back later."  With that, she disappeared.

A few moments later, bullfrogs started to hop into the office and finally a giant toad.  Tidus of C*B tamed a bullfrog, but it was not compelled to speak.  Disco Inferno of [S-S], Lestat, Lucy of AKB, Aries of KotR, Winmere of C=D, and Winfield of Pax continued to ponder what had happened, wondering if this was an omen.  There was speculation a plague could come.  Others said that frogs were favored in this office so this was not unusual.  Still, it seemed important to read the books in the office once more and perhaps look for a name that Zaira was looking for.

The gems on Myrina's square table remained green, but who knows when they may change color.

Footnote:  Myrina Heron named her Pixie friend as Zaira and thanked "Wicked Wench" for the suggestion. In the News book on Myrina's table it says "I thank Zaira for pledging her services I have contracted the local the local tinkers to upgrade the pixie statue to an oracle which will be able to give you recent news.  You can speak to it with keywords.  Hint: News or Keywords."  (The pixie statue is in Myrina's inner office._

UPDATE as of 7:30 PM ET - GEMS ARE RED in Myrina's Office in East Britain, Trammel.  This means something will happen in the next 4 hours or sooner.

"PaxOku as a new city needs strong leadership," Winfield said in an interview after the meeting.  "I have full confidence in Lord Gareth's abilities to take the reins of PaxOku and lead it to prosperity, respect, and activity.  Since PaxOku is a major cross-road leading to the perilous Kitsune Forest, he will also venture to aid adventurers in the local area.  Shops and pubs will be established for the residents and travelers.  I expect he will offer opportunities for many people to participate in PaxOku in the truest sense of an open community."

At the ceremony on June 20, 2005, Lord Gareth swore to his oath administered from Mayor Winfield.  The crowd shouted cheers of encouragement and praise.
