Britannian Ambassador Arrives at British Castle in Britain Print

The Britannian Ambassador,

the councilmember

Fignut the Elder and others inside the
south Council Chamber in Lord British's Castle

SOUTH COUNCIL CHAMBER, LORD BRITISH CASTLE, BRITAIN, TRAMMEL - August 10, 2006

Several people talked to a Britannian Ambassador at the main castle in Britain to gain some insight regarding the Ophidian invasions and occupancies in various Sosarian cities.  The Ambassador did reveal some potentially very important information.  He may still be able to tell much more if a person asks him the right question.

Fignut the Elder, the Emissary of PaxLair, alerted travelers to the Ambassador's presence while Fignut was at the castle on diplomatic business.  Fignut and a few others had some private conversations with the Ambassador.  Their exact conversations are not revealed to the public as some of the knowledge must remain in diplomatic channels.

More people are encouraged to talk to the Ambassador to glean more information that may help Sosarians end the battles with the Ophidians.

Speculation, reports, and unconfirmed rumors are rampant around the Castle and areas of Sosaria's highest population centers.  The battles in Papua and Vesper rage on while the Unified Sosarian Forces continue to stand their ground.

THE SEAS AND PAPUA, TRAMMEL - August 1, 2006

Reported by Swabs da Deck [DAGR]

Aye, it all started when me 'n Bad JuJu were patrolling the seas around the lost land, and we came across a burnt out husk of a ship.  Naturally being pirates, we investigated for some booty, but all we found was a dead sailor with a note in his hand that read, "we can't escape the docks!"

We weren't sure what that meant so we sailed into Papua and found it over run with Ophidians.  We cleared a few off the docks to let some merchant sailors escape (hehe we'll see them later).

After we cleared the dock, we sent a message to our commodore to apprise him of the situation.  He came to see for himself and decided we must help the citizens of Papua.

So we called in reinforcements from the seas to help the onslaught when Lady omsk from PaxOku came to lend her hand with us sea dogs. Angel and Salty Jim from DAGR came to cleanse Papua of the Ophidians' wrath after fighting Ophidian Generals, Captains, Corporals and other minor serpents.

All fell before our might.

Arr, thats me word telled by me own eyes..

Death blows dealt to the Ophidian Generals in Papua

More than 40 people assemble at the PaxLair
meeting in PaxOku, Tokuno

The Enemy is no match for
the Detachments sent to Papua

PAXOKU, TOKUNO AND PAPUA, TRAMMEL - August 1, 2006

"Good Blow! Sthatys. Thys ath" were the death cries of the Ophidians in Papua.  Sosarian Defense Forces formed detachments with more than 40 people to liberate Papua of the Ophidian Generals within an hour-and-a-half.  Then Berserkers came, slowly at first, then more rapidly.  But they also died quickly in the vice-grips of the stalwart fighters.

After three hours of combat, the Ophidians launched another brutal attack with more Generals and lesser Ophidians.  Some Sosarian fighters remained, others returned to their homes to resupply for another day and mend their wounds.  Fighting in Papua continues.

The plan was clearly to liberate Papua then march to Vesper where more fighters were already battling the enemy there.  But the Ophidians in Papua proved stronger than originally expected and the defense forces diminished before they could aid Vesper in strength.  Future battle strategies will likely include simultaneous and coordinated maneuvers on both fronts in Vesper and Papua.

Earlier at the weekly PaxLair meeting of its five cities, more than 40 people came to the call to organize a counter-attack against the Ophidians.  Citizens, allies, and friends packed into the PaxOku meeting hall where Mayor Winfield held a very short meeting of important announcements and introductions.

PaxLair's Minister of Defense Oda Nobunga then led the meeting rallying the spirit and comradery of all present.  For the counter-attack and call to war was on!  The sound was deafening as people beat their shields, shouted out cheers for the coming triumph, and pounded fists in determination upon the wooden benches.

Guildmaster Nevyn D'Wyooren of the Royal Britannian Guards reported the latest intelligence about the enemy and information about defenders already in the field.  RBG had been scouting the Papua and Vesper areas for an hour before the meeting to aid the defense leaders to properly deploy detachments.  Papua was reported with heavy enemy activity and few defenders while Vesper was reported with slightly fewer enemies and the guilds UTB and SHE already performing a counter-attack.

After 30 minutes from the start of the PaxLair meeting, fighters filed outside to form small detachments of six or more people. Within 10 minutes at least five detachments were ready to go, each including at least a healer or cleric to mend the wounds of their detachment in the field.  Sebrina of KPD established a field healer's location at the Mage Shop in Moonglow, which was also the entry point into the Papua city.  NAV, RBG, OkuC, PxK, PV, St. ATD, Pax, Co5, ^E^, P|B, MotV, Fryr, DAGR, DwxC, KPD, *LS, PxE, KOD and more guilds had sent their best fighters, mages, tamers, healers, and more to join the Sosarian Defense Forces.

Upon entering Papua, detachments fanned out staying organized within their detachment.  Cross communication occured regularly between the detachments as calls went out on the battle grounds and in the ether between detachment leaders.  Some areas of Papua were worse than others, especially by the Stables, Docks, Inn, and Mage Shop.  When areas were finally cleared of Ophidians, the detachments quickly scouted throughout the city for any remaining enemy holed up in fear and terror.  Some were found under the Stables, but were no match for the 15 troops that quickly descended upon them when discovered.

Berserkers then arrived in random fashion around Papua and again were no match for the Sosarian Forces.  There were a few casualties in the onslaught, but they were immediately brought back to life through healing and magicks.

After the battle in Papua was completed, the attacks appeared to enter a second wave of attacks. However, few Sosarian Forces could remain on alert.

High praise was given to all the Sosarian Defense Forces and later during resupply missions in Skara Brae, to the UTB and SHE guilds for defeating enemies in Vesper.

As a side note, the PaxLair meeting saw introductions of Eric the Red [*LS] from a shard called Lake Superior. Eric said he and his guild were moving to Chesapeake.  Lord Aragon [St.] also introduced himself.  Both Eric and Aragon proved their worth many times at the following battles in Papua.

Also of leadership importance for the PaxLair Community, John McBain nominated NANOC to become the next Viceroy of Dragons Watch.  Mayor Winfield entered the nomination into the record and said he will perform the Viceroy appointment ceremony next week at the PaxLair Meeting on Tuesday, August 8th, at 9 PM in Dragons Watch.  PaxLair is based around its cities led by Viceroys and working together between the cities and with many friends and allies throughout the shard.

PAPUA, TRAMMEL - July 31, 2006

Reports are coming in from battles in the field.  The combat action plan drawn up by Nevyn of RBG seems to be working.  Guilds and fighters are fighting together with a sense of purpose.

Nevyn reported that several guilds fought against Ophidians in Papua with great success.  Residents of Papua cheered from their shop windows as the Defense Forces cleaned the enemy out of Papua at least twice.  "No less than 25 berserkers and countless lesser ophidians" fell to the Forces' mages, heavy fighters, tamers' beasts, and bards' music.

Why were the Defense Forces so successful? Nevyn remarked that "aye, we had some casualties, but the strategies laid out were followed and group cohesion held through trust.  Immense amounts of cooperation went on."

Battles continued into the night and early dawn hours.  Organized maneuvers against the Ophidians are expected on a nearly daily basis.  Keep close watch on the Moonglow Mage Shop where there is a teleporter to the Papua Mage Shop.  Moonglow is being used as a command headquarters for some of the Sosarian forces.

Defense Meeting at the RBG Embassy

ROYAL BRITANNIAN GUARDS EMBASSY, MALAS

Sosarian guilds and defense officials met at the RBG Embassy last night to work out strategies to combat the Ophidian Invasions.  The officials decided to have a HQs in Moonglow, Trammel at the Mage Shop which has a magical teleporter going directly into the Papua Mage Shop.  Papua has the largest onslaught of Ophidians.  There will also be amphibious assaults from Sosarian forces.

Nevyn, the GM of RBG, led the meeting and had this to say on the planning thread on Stratics at 8:18 AM ET, July 30, 2006:

A meeting was held Friday night at the RBG Embassy in Luna for the Purposes for discussing Combined Forces Tactics and lessons learned from the recent battles with Berserkers. The representatives who did attend represented five different guilds and some serious discussion was held on a Central Command location and a back up location. Moonglow mage shop will be the HQ unless it is breeched. A direct assault from the mage shop, by the main force, will be combined with an amphibious assault by a smaller expeditionary unit.
Civillian guests at the meeting noted the decided lack of participation given the overall numbers of guilds and tacticians in our realm. Privately, a source who wishes to remain anonymous, asked where all the allies of the guilds that did participate are. I suggested that the information discussed would be sent to them as I know an ally would NEVER ignore a call to the banner.

PAPUA, TRAMMEL - July 15, 2006

Defenders of Sosaria descended upon Papua tonight to protect its citizens and patrons.  However, a Putrefied Brood Guard arrived and dominated the sleepy town.  The massive invasions of regular Ophidian forces wasn't so bad, but the Putrefied Brood Guard ... a completely different matter!  Death upon death ... undead spawned in its wake ... Humans, Elves, and Pets littered the swampy areas beneath the high trees.

At last report, very early on July 16th, the Putrefied Brood Guard was still at half-health or above.  Keeping it out of town helps, but not much.  Many die nearly instantly to its touch.  Tonight, people of the Realm bonded together to take down the beast and continue at the time of this report.

VESPER, TRAMMEL - July 15, 2006

Attacks of Ophidians, Errant-Knights, and Wyverns plague Vesper today.  Brave Cartographers have mapped what seem to be the attack locations.  The largest areas of attack are to on the SouthWestern part of Vesper.

Many are working together in the Realm against this invasion of Vesper, Papua and other locations.  Mayor Winfield is proposing a Vesper HQs at the Marsh Hall (the central pub).  It can be a staging place for information and defense forces.

No one knows how long the attacks on Vesper will last.

Defense discussions and planning are on the Stratics Chesapeake Forum and in the Vesper HQs.

SKARA BRAE, TRAMMEL - July 7, 2006

Ophidians have set up skirmish lines around several Britannian cities, to at least include Skara Brae and Serpent's Hold.  Mayor Winfield, Minister Oda Nobunga, Viceroy DutchessVanHorn, and SaraLeigh (SS) were in Skara Brae when the Town Cryer near the bank started yelling news about the huge snake-like creatures attacks.

Trinity North (UTB) and several other UTB members arrived and created gates to a nearby skirmish line.  The Mayor got a first-hand look at the peril outside Skara Brae and the constantly arriving Ophidians.  The attacks were not overwhelming, but they were dangerous.

The Britannian News Network also reported the attacks and offered a little insight about the Ophidians.

Trinity North later put a call out to the people of Chesapeake (via the Stratics Chesapeake Board) to urge guilds and people to start planning defenses similar to the Invasion of Britain over a year ago.  (See the article from March 6, 2005 for the Britain Defense planning.)

Mayor Winfield agreed that the people of the Realm should not be caught off guard and that it appeared that Felucca was also being attacked by the Ophidians.

The Ratman General is Pounded by the Sosarian Forces

A DUNGEON SOMEWHERE NEAR THE SAVAGE (LIZARDMAN) FORT - April 18, 2006

A war cry went out to all of Sosaria tonight for brave people to defend the southern lands from the ravagings of a Ratman General named Lorgash.  Sosarians came from all directions to the Skara Brae Community Center at 10 PM ET on April 18, 2006.  By just after 10:30, Lorgash was dead and the 50+ people stood atop his smoldering corpse.

Lorgash appeared to be guarding a book in the dungeon.  The book was by Nystul called "Studies: The Shattering".  The text of this book is contained later in this article.
