SKARA BRAE, TRAMMEL - August 18, 2006

About 25 Sosarians met at Luna Bank Second Floor at 9 PM ET on August 18, 2006.  Many consider this Day 1 of a concerted and organized effort to liberate Skara Brae and more cities.  War planners hope for at least 50 people on Saturday, August 19th at the next Call to Arms at 9 PM ET.

On August 18th, the battles raged on in Skara Brae for more than five hours and they still continue while this article is written.  Teamwork was fantastic.  Three parties formed at Luna and then all gated to Skara Brae in one massive force with a battle plan in everyone's mind on how to take back the city from the Ophidians.

The battle plan was clear and worked very well -- stay together, do not draw the enemy away from their areas, attack house by house and area by area, do not open doors until the team is ready to all go inside together, and make sure everyone survived as much as possible.

Within 30 minutes, the stable area to the west was cleared for the first time, and soon after that, the Pub.  Within about 90 minutes, about a third of the Skara Brae Island was cleared of the enemy.

After 5 hours, nearly half of the Island was cleared
but, the enemy on the mainland stood their ground and waited.

But as time went on, people had to return home to their loved ones and more replacements came in who did not have the battle strategy briefing presented at 9 PM in Luna.  Groups became separated, enemy forces were drawn out of the houses before the teams were ready, and many enemy ended up back at the moongate or bank following an unsuspecting or willfull spawn-leading warrior.

After five hours of battle, the enemy brought in reinforcements back to the already-cleared Town Hall and Pub.  In a few more hours, there may be more at the stables.  However, hope rests now on those valiant people remaining in Skara Brae still fighting with purpose throughout the night.  May we wake up in the morning to a Liberated Skara Brae!  That would truely be grand!

There is a Call to Arms every night at 9 PM ET until all four cities under attack are liberated.  Each night, Sosarians will meet at the Luna Bank second floor. The gathering in Luna has a simple agenda that takes 15-20 minutes:

- Gather people
- Receive the Mission Briefing
- Party into groups
- Depart for the city

This gathering in masse has already proven its worth; now more Sosarians are needed at each evening Call to Arms.

In fact, the Call to Arms now also goes out to all Guildmasters to bring their guilds ready for combat.  Each guild may "register" their participation with Winfield, the Mayor of PaxLair, who will do his best to make public notice of the guilds showing a strong effort in this campaign.

VESPER, TRAMMEL - August 18, 2006

Once again the PaxLair Cartographers journeyed with devotion and attention to detail to map out yet another city of embroiled battle.  They entered Vesper, Trammel from the Minoc Moongate and traveled south until they reached the Cemetary.  They provide this map of Vesper for battle planners and teams.

Vesper under Attack, August 18, 2006

Reconnaissance showed the enemy is not as concentrated in Vesper as other cities.  This is probably due to the nature of the islands.

Strategists reviewed the new map and suggest a Supply Station be set up at the Healer Shop, which showed only one or two enemy generals in control.  Resupply may be made easy there, while resurrections provided by the healer staff.

Attack tactics have revealed the enemy can be killed and erradicated house by house and area by area with small detachments working together.  But, the enemy must be killed in and near the houses they occupy.  Luring the enemy to safer zones seems to only cause the enemy to reinforce their occupied house with more forces.  This wastes valuable time and effort.

Attack tactics have also shown several teams are needed to move forward in unison against several houses and areas.  If the houses and areas are not cleared fast enough, the enemy will call in more troops to once again take control of their lost areas.

Cartographers will attempt to map the other cities under attack as soon as their wounds heal.

PAPUA, TRAMMEL - August 18, 2006

After completing the daring map in Serpents Hold, PaxLair Cartographers ran through the Fire Dungeon entrance at Serpents Hold and arrived in the Lost Lands north of Papua.  It was an easy stroll through the area until across the bridge to the south (just north of Papua).  There they encountered some (grey) Ophidian resistance. They continued into Papua from the north and, well, it got really ugly!

The PaxLair Cartographers bravely ran through the streets and swamps of Papua, Trammel mapping out the enemy locations and strength.  They provide this map for battle planners and teams.

Papua under Attack, August 18, 2006

Reconnaissance showed the enemy is nearly everywhere.  There is less congestion directly on the beach fronts and the Inn (inside it) seemed relatively quiet.  The bank is overrun.

Of more significant note is the mage shop is completely overrun inside and out.  That is the most convenient means to enter Papua.

- From Moonglow Mage Shop in NE Moonglow, Trammel outside the city, step on the altar and say "RECDU". That takes one directly to the Papua Mage Shop.

- From the Papua Mage Shop, Trammel, step on the altar and say "RECSU".  That takes one back to Moonglow Mage Shop, Trammel.

The Fire Dungeon entrance north of Papua provides easy access to Serpents Hold.  However, getting to the Fire Dungeon entrance via the Moonglow Mage Shop - Papua Mage Shop portal, well, is not easy at all.  Hopefully runes still work at the Fire Dungeon Entrance or even inside Fire Dungeon to get to Serpents Hold.

SERPENT'S HOLD, TRAMMEL - August 18, 2006

After sailing to the SE tip of the island, PaxLair Cartographers bravely ran through the streets of Serpent's Hold, Trammel this morning mapping out the enemy locations and strength.  They provide this map for battle planners and teams.

Serpent's Hold under Attack, August 18, 2006

Reconnaissance showed the enemy did not immediately occupy second and third floors of buildings.  They can reach those floors via the stairs or maybe teleporting.

The Dungeon entrance by the docks has some enemy, but not an overwhelming force so long as more enemy are not drawn to the entrance.

Ships may dock easily to the SE and W.  Docking to the NW seems perilous.

Attack tactics have revealed the enemy can be killed and erradicated house by house with small detachments working together.  But, the enemy must be killed in and near the houses they occupy.  Luring the enemy to safer zones seems to only cause the enemy to reinforce their occupied house with more forces.

Attack tactics have also shown several teams are needed to move forward in unison against several houses.  If the houses are not cleared fast enough, the enemy will call in more troops to once again take control of their lost areas.

Cartographers will attempt to map the other cities under attack as soon as their wounds heal.

PaxLair also set up a Ship at Serpent's Hold with a Key at the Tea House in PaxOku to allow gate and recall into Serpent's Hold.  See more about it below.

SKARA BRAE, TRAMMEL - August 18, 2006

PaxLair Cartographers bravely ran through the streets of Skara Brae, Trammel this morning mapping out the enemy locations and strength.  They provide this map for battle planners and teams.

Skara Brae and the Mainland under Attack, August 18, 2006

Attack tactics have revealed the enemy can be killed and erradicated house by house with small detachments working together.  But, the enemy must be killed in and near the houses they occupy.  Luring the enemy to safer zones seems to only cause the enemy to reinforce their occupied house with more forces.

Attack tactics have also shown several teams are needed to move forward in unison against several houses.  If the houses are not cleared fast enough, the enemy will call in more troops to once again take control of their lost areas.

Strategists said recently that once the island of Skara Brae is cleared of the enemy, the mainland area under invasion must also be cleared.  The end result is a permanently liberated Skara Brae and Sosarian Forces can then go on to other invaded cities such as Serpents Hold.

Cartographers will attempt to map the other cities under attack as soon as their wounds heal.

SKARA BRAE, TRAMMEL - August 15, 2006

United Sosarian Forces, the combined force of many guilds on the Chesapeake Shard, fought courageously against the Ophidians in Skara Brae.  By 11:30 PM ET on Tuesday, August 15th, about three-fourths of the city was clear.  Then the Ophidians regrouped and counterattacked with overwhelming force.  Ophidians still rule Skara Brae, but their time there is numbered in days, if not hours.

Many good Sosarians would have met their final fate in battle if it were not for the Knights of the Dragon supply Headquarters at the Skara Brae Blacksmith Shop.

Kendric, the guildmaster of KOD and several KOD members supplied any and all people in need who stepped into the HQs.  The HQs was armed with enormous numbers of bandages, potion kegs, repair deeds, and some replacement equipment.  KOD resurrected the fallen people and their pets, making the supply HQs a front line healers location.  KOD and others also defended the location so weary fighters could rest a moment in relative safety.

The Supply and Field Healer HQs also served as a central gathering place for latest intelligence, meeting with field commanders, and re-grouping with detachments.  Kendric stated his guild plans to set up the HQs as often as possible until the Ophidians are erradicated from Skara Brae.  They can also quickly break down and move the HQs to an advanced position when needed.

All forces battling in Skara Brae are highly encouraged to use the HQs at the Blacksmith Shop when needed for healing, supplies, maintenance, and communication.

Mad Jack leads the Mayor to
Joachim the Artificer

MT SHO, ISAMU-JIMA, TOKUNO - August 12, 2006

Lord Mad Jack bravely entered the firey Mt. Sho Volcano in Tokuno and found Joachim the Artificer near the lava flow.  It is clear Joachim makes artifacts of some kind and receives materials from people passing through.  Upon receiving some materials from Mad Jack, Joachim revealed information regarding a special artifact that may have an impact on the current wars with the Ophidians.

Gareth also arrived and gave Joachim several items, some that interested Joachim.

There seems to be a connection between Joachim and the Britannian Ambassador.  As people talk to both, more can be revealed.

The small group then headed to Lord British's Castle in Britain and talked to the Ambassador.  The Ambassador carried on some light conversation with the people, then talked more about his diplomatic duties and his troubles.

The Ambassador arrived a few days ago in Britain apparently in an effort to stave off a war with the Ophidians.

MT SHO, ISAMU-JIMA, TOKUNO and LORD BRITISH CASTLE, BRITAIN, TRAMMEL - August 11, 2006

Adventurers talked to Joachim the Artificer at Mt Sho and then to the Britannian Ambassador in Britain revealing information about the Scion's Zenith, the Ophidian's treasure.  Joachim the Artificer made the Scion's Zenith and delivered it to the Ambassador.  The Ambassador said, "Yes, I received the Ophidians treasure.  I hope this is enough to achieve a peace with their leaders."

Budswoman and Greyylene from the Soggy Barnacle tavern in Port Baldmor ventured to Mt Sho with Draeke Tobedias and Garen Stronghold.  They showed many gems to Joachim who finally talked about the Scion's Zenith.  After an ale or two, the went and saw the Ambassador.

The four adventurers hoped the Ophidians would soon quit the assaults on towns that have already seen too much bloodshed.
