We are currently having problems with the Events Listing system. There are events coming up, but they do not show up in the list. Some repair is needed to fix the problem. In the meantime, watch the PaxLair Forum for event listings and announcements. Thank you. |

- Change your UO Account Passwords regularly - This is no joke, just do it! - go to the UO Secure Account page. Oh, and DO make your password hard to figure out!
- DO NOT give out your UO Account Name to anyone except as needed at EA.
- DO NOT give out your Password to anyone.
- DO NOT give out your Email Address you use for your UO Accounts to anyone. DO NOT use hotmail, gmail, etc. for your UO Accounts. DO NOT use your UO Account Email Address for messageboards and web sites registrations.
- If you must give your UO Account Name and Password to someone you are working with, call them on the Phone! Don't send by Email and defintely NOT by ICQ. Plus, having their phone number and real life name/info will help you track them down if they hack your account. AND change your password after you're done working with them on a project (e.g., building a house).
- Protect your personal information (Real Name, Address, Credit Card numbers, Birthdates, etc.)
Be wary, your UO Accounts are very valuable! Protect them now!!! The UO Direct Account Support Phone Number is: 1-866-543-5435 (outside US: 650-628-4306) [reference: EA Billing Policies FAQ] Keep your computer hardened against attacks! - Run Firewall
- Run Anti-Virus programs and keep up to date
- Run Anti-Spam programs and keep up to date
- Run Anti-Spybot programs (at least three) and keep up to date
- Run Privacy programs (able to specifically select which cookies and sites to accept)
- Print and Delete sensitive Emails
- Encrypt sensitive files on your hard drive
- Use PGP for email for encryption of sensitive emails
- Protect your IP addresses (careful in ICQ Chat, IRC, and other programs)
- Multiple computers, get a Router with a firewall
- Upgrade your Operating System regularly!

PAXLAIR, Chesapeake Shard - January 10, 2006
Once again the Ethereal administrators are hard at work. They just created a new PaxForum called In-game StoryLines, Continuing RP Quests/Events. It is located HERE.
The In-game StoryLines, Continuing RP Quests/Events Forum is a great place to keep the public up-to-date on any Quests and [Role-playing] storylines going on in the Realm. Recently, there have been several PaxLair Quests and it is important to report what has happened from quest event to quest event.
Everyone can read the Forum, Registered users can post (note: the PaxForum registration is independent from the PaxSite registration, i.e., different login system).
Quest-makers and Quest-goers should report their information about these continuing quests, or even single Quest events, otherwise we lose the great efforts of many people to failing memories (looks at self and swears at the Time Lord).
Dragonspeed on using the new Forum!
Winfield, Mayor of PaxLair |

UO.COM FYI - January 1, 2006
This is announced on UO.COM FYI -
=====
We have received reports of players having their account security breached due to an as yet unfixed Windows Metafile vulnerability in Microsoft Windows 2000, XP and 2003.
As there is no fix from Microsoft as of the early morning hours of January 1st, 2006, we recommend that you do not click on links from sources you do not absolutely trust.
Most of these reports indicate that the victim received an instant message from another player to a website that exploited this vulnerability, though any link from a non-trusted source, whether from an IM, email or other source, could potentially put your account at risk.
Please visit Microsoft and CERT for more information.
