THE PAXLAIR ETHER - July 2, 2006

The PaxLair Community now has an IRC Channel called #uo_paxlair on irc.stratics.com.  This channel is open to anyone and everyone so people may communicate with and in the PaxLair Community across guilds, alliances, cities, shards, etc.

There is a right menu item on PaxLair.com showing the server and channel.  You may connect via the Stratics JAVA chat client (choosing your screen resolution) or directly through whatever YOUR Client is installed (e.g., www.mirc.com client).

We suggest you register your "nickname" in IRC and then "identify" yourself with your registered password before joining the #uo_paxlair channel.  Please use the nickname format "charname_guild" for consistency.  REMEMBER: You will need to use irc.stratics.com with your registered nickname about once every 30 days to keep it registered.

THE PAXLAIR ETHER - June 19, 2006

A few weeks ago, we set the "new user account" requests on the PaxLair Forums at http://www.castlemist.com/pax/phpBB2/ to "authorize by Sys Admins" because of internal problems with the system.  Those problems have not been remedied yet, and there is a DELAY in authorizing new user accounts to the PaxForum.

We ask for your patience, and please use the Chesapeake Forum at http://boards.stratics.com/php-bin/uo/postlist.php?Cat=&Board=uochesapeake to communicate with PaxLair and other Chesapeake people.  MANY PaxLair people often use the Chesapeake Forum.

We will be moving the PaxForums to a new "board system" soon as part of the Skypage upgrades.  We will still make the old PaxForums available, but will be "read-only".  We may be able to transfer existing Paxforums information from the old to the new system, but this has not been tested.

We completed an initial load of 1998 PaxLair News articles.  Later loads will be based on research through various Ethereal sources and documents from veterans of PaxLair.

We are working on moving a lot of menu items around on the PaxLair Skypage.  Things will settled down in about a week.

We are focusing on using the top menu system for the main navigation and usability.  While we do that, links on the left will come and go to make sure we don't lose links to content.

When the Mayor points his finger at you and has a soft but firm voice, he obviously means business!

I got that message pretty clearly in the past few days.  I'm the PaxLair Site Super Administrator handling the needs of the PaxLair Community.

The PaxLair site has grown to over 1000 articles, pages, and items, but they aren't easy to find and they are a bit disorganized.  And many are obsolete that need revamping.  Nothing gets deleted--just put in a virtual file cabinet somewhere.

I'm on it Mayor!  Already there's new front page blocks and better menus.  I hope you're happy so far.  Here's the next steps:

The Web Page you entered does not exist

We are having a slight problem with the PaxLair.Com web site.

The most noticable is that if you enter a URL like:

    http://www.paxlair.com/site10/paxoku

it ends up going to this article, not to the PaxOku page like it should.  That type of URL is coded on our site as an "alias"--basically an easier to remember address than the actual URL reference code for the page.

As you can tell, our "aliases" are malfunctioning.  We are working hard to find all our uses of Aliases on our more than 450 pages of information and change them to the actual URL references.  We do not know when or if we will get our Aliases working again.

Anyway, if there are URLs on messageboards, bookmarks, or other Web Sites like the one above for PaxOku, you may want to change it to the actual URL reference for the target page on this site.  We have listed ALL of our aliases below for your convenience.

The UO Radio Talk Show with Viceroy (UO Radio and Chesapeake), Spyderbite (UO Radio and Siege Perilous), Kendall (Baronship of Cove, Europa), and Mayor Winfield (PaxLair, Chesapeake) aired on Saturday, February 25, 2006.  The two hour show discussed "Role-playing" and how it is affected by many of the "mechanics" in the Realm.  Suggestions were made by the Panel to improve "mechanics" and there was more discussion about of "Role-playing" in general.
