January 18, 2007
It would appear that there was a secret memo released by the United Sosarian Navy which plainly dictates that any and all altercations with the Red Dagger Pirates must be avoided at all cost. So much hype at the discovery of the DAGR hideout has proven to be a bit of a tease. Tis believed that this is rouse is merely to cause the Pirates to be so grievously bloodthirsty that they begin to turn on themselves.
For the only other explanation would be that the Navy lost their way at sea searching for the hideout. |

PAXOKU (TOKUNO), PAXLAIR - January 19, 2007
Winfield, Governor of PaxLair, sponsored PaxLair's 9th Anniversary Gala Ball and Dinner at the Museum of the Virtues: PaxOku Annex on January 19, 2007. Katherine, the curator of the Museum, was contracted to host the event with a three-course meal and with wine imported from Guardians Gate. PAXOKU (TOKUNO), PAXLAIR - January 19, 2007
Gareck and Finder from RBG delivered a full shipment of wine to PaxOku from Wat the Tyler in Guardians Gate. The Governor of PaxLair ordered the wine a few days ago to be brought by sea, not by magical means. The wine was for the PaxLair 9th Anniversary Gala Ball and Dinner. The shipment also contained a gift from Guardians Gate of 200 ingots of each type from all over Sosaria.
Gareck said the ocean voyage was uneventful except for a few sea serpents. No pirates were spotted and waters were relatively calm.
The wine shipment included Merlot, White Zinfandel, Rare Orc Blood Brandy, Goulish Chardonnay, and Dark Elf Shiraz.
Governor Winfield personally signed for the shipment as Gareck and Finder unloaded the heavy crates. They took the crates to the Museum of the Virtues: PaxOku Annex in preparation for the evening dinner.

PAXOKU DUELING PIT, PAXOKU (TOKUNO), PAXLAIR AND VALLEY OF SLEEPING DRAGONS CHAMPION SPAWN (TOKUNO) - January 18, 2007
More than 15 people fought and survived a PaxOku-led adventure into a Champion area in Tokuno. They killed the Champion in the Valley of the Sleeping Dragons after fighting massive numbers of monsters. With one candle lit on the Champion alter, fighting was easy. With 17 candles lit, everyone had to team up, create protective fields, heal each other, and work as a team.
In the end, the Champion was no match for the adventurers. Loot spilled out when the Champion died. People freely took what loot they desired. Some donated their gold to the PaxOku adventure team for creating more events for PaxOku and the Realm.
Some people were new to this adventure. This was one person's first group activity in the Realm and their first Champion "Spawn" adventure. The person helped kill the monsters, healed the party, and immensely enjoyed the experience working with a group.
Led by Visago, PaxOku adventures are every Thursday night at 9 PM ET at the PaxOku Dueling Pit. These are group adventures going to some of the most difficult places. Adventure locations are selected a few days in advance, and adjusted based on the group size attending.
Adventures during PaxLair's Age of Enlightenment are adding "quest-oriented" goals and situations. Part of the adventures is to learn something in the Realm, visit an interesting place, meet and talk to barkeeps, gypsies, or other people in cities and villages, and solve some riddles or tasks to achieve a goal.
See more of the images from the adventure below. |

SILENT ROSE LIBRARY, PAXOKU (TOKUNO), PAXLAIR - January 18, 2007
PaxOku's celebration day kicked off with a trivia game where every contestant in the audience answered a question about PaxLair or the Realm, and received a wonderful prize.
Mayor Tatania Karthina hosted the "Jeopardy" at the Silent Rose Library. Some questions were tough, some easy. The audience could help give clues. One question in particular asked how many people could sit in the PaxLair City Municipal Building. A clue from a member of the audience was "somewhere between 35 and 37". The contestant guessed 36 and got the answer right!
Prizes ranged from 10K gold checks to 1M gold checks, along with other special items. Everyone answered a question and got two prizes by the end of the night.
The Silent Rose Library at the NE end of the Monks Crossing Road in PaxOku is one of the largest libraries in the Realm, with almost 700 books. It is also the home of the PaxLair Theatre Company which holds theatrical plays on the top floor stage. A play is scheduled for Friday, January 19th at 8:30 PM ET. |

PORT BALDMOR (TRAMMEL), PAXLAIR - January 16, 2007
Torches lit on sandy shores, food fit for a king (perhaps t'was the
king's), rum and ale running free, and treasures to be discovered this
is a party fit for a Pirate! It has been said that the Pirates would
never see a year together outside a jail cell, especially those of the
king's Navy, but this day we proved them quite incorrect. Not only
are we yet free from shackles, but we are proud to yet roam the
sovereign lands with mischief and mayhem as our guide. Celebration
must be had while the having is yet available. Today we drink and
eat and revel in the knowledge that tomorrow we may never see.
As we sit by the firelight drinking our Pirate ale and reliving the
tales of our adventures it has come to mind that more is necessary.
More of what? Well asked indeed! MORE of All, say we. More is what
was had. |

MUSEUM OF THE VIRTUES AND GUARDIANS GATE - January 17, 2006
Governor Winfield recently placed a few facility and wine orders for the PaxLair 9th Anniversary Grand Dinner to be held on Friday night, January 19, 2007 at 10 PM ET, right after the PaxLair Theatre Company play at 8:30 PM ET. He booked use of the Museum of the Virtues PaxOku Annex and placed an order for specially imported wine from Guardians Gate. The dinner will be in PaxOku. The meal and wine will cater to the tastes of humans, elves, vampyres, orcs, and other races.
Winfield met with Katherine, the curator of the famous Museum of the Virtues, to arrange use of her PaxOku Annex dinner hall. The hall sits above exhibits of the Virtues, Chesapeake's accomplishments in the Ophidian war, and other recent events.
The wine ordered from Wat the Tyler and Fignut the Elder of Guardians Gate will be shipped via vessel, not magical means, to the shores of PaxOku. There is rumor the seas may not be safe, so the Governor added extra insurance to his request. Guardians Gate is rapidly becoming known for its excellent selection in wines.

DRAGONS WATCH (FELUCCA), PAXLAIR - January 17, 2007
Adventurers and travelers met at the Dragons Watch Tavern for ale and good cheer before launching on a dangerous mission to the Jungles of Sosaria. With ale-enhanced courage, they went to the PaxLair Malas Auditorium where a treasure huntress led them to perilous lands and buried treasures beyond belief. Monsters were no match for this team of fighters, mages, paladins, and knights.
Upon reaching their initial destination, the team spread out in a circular formation around the treasure digger. Energy Vortexes were cast into the jungle and all the local healers were protected from inadvertent attack.
After a short bit of surveying and digging, a rusty chest slowly appeared. Moss grew around the chest, but there was something else. Blood seemed to be dried on the edges as if buried during a very bloody battle.
Suddenly monsters from the depths of the earth appeared immediately looking for those that disturbed them. The Vortexes went to work along with the paladins and knights. Mages kept the team healed in unified fashion.
After several treasures were discovered, dug up, and looted, the adventurers said a fond farewell. They all vowed to return once more when called in need.
The adventurers were Mayor NANOC and Deputy Mayor Phoenix of Dragons Watch, Governor Winfield, Fignut the Elder and General BobMarleyson I of Guardians Gate, Lady Kathleen of the Museum of the Virtues, and of course Linda, the treasure huntress.

PAXLAIR STATEHOOD - January 17, 2007
The PaxLair 9th Anniversary Runebooks were delayed in production due to a slight rift in the magical powers of the ether last week. The first copy of the Runebook is on display and for use at the Governor's Tea House in PaxOku. It is open to be used by the public. Mages are gathering their resources to create additional rune books. Many will hopefully be prepared for the 9th Anniversary Final Celebration Day on Friday, January 19th.
The Final Celebration Day will be in PaxOku, Homare-jima, Tokuno starting at 8:30 PM ET at the Silent Rose Library. The PaxLair Theatre Company will be putting on a play at the Library. After the play, at roughly 10:00 PM ET, Governor Winfield is hosting a dinner at the Museum of the Virtues: PaxOku Annex. All are invited.
The Tea House and Silent Rose Library are both located at the extreme end of the PaxOku housing area to the northeast. Go to the Homare-jima moongate on Tokuno and head straight up Monks Crossing Road. The Silent Rose Library is on the right (east); the Tea House is on the left (west). The Museum of the Virtues: PaxOku Annex is a few houses back down the road from the Library on the east side.

PORT BALDMOR (TRAMMEL), PAXLAIR - January 16, 2007
Residents and visitors reported terror in the waters and on the beaches during Port Baldmor's 1st Anniversary celebration on January 16, 2007. Even more monsters came from the woods on Bald Isle as some treasure seekers dug up chests. The sand on the beach also devoured furniture and at times trapped people as they drank ale.
Many pirate ships and other seafaring vessels answered the call to Port Baldmor's shores. All engaged in combat with monsters of the deep. No one could say for certain why these monsters were particularly interested in Port Baldmor. One pirate said "Arr Matey, they come out of the watery depths to scare us off our isle! Instead, we kill 'em and make some crawl out on da plank!"
Leviathons also dared to attack the beach. They were quickly turned into crustacean goo.
The partying and revelry continued on the isle for many hours into the evening. Visitors from far off places such as Guardians Gate arrived by ship or magical means.
Port Baldmor celebrated one year of its official existence as a pirate city. During that year, Port Baldmor captured the attention of many people on the Shard. The resident pirates of DAGR and other guilds continue to dominate the south seas, finding ships and shorelines to pillage and plunder. There is also confirmation that the pirates are campaigning in other areas of the Shard to expand their influence and wealth. All will need to watch the progress of the pirates over the next year, and mark this day as the Day of the Pirate.

PAXLAIR CITY (FELUCCA), PAXLAIR - January 15, 2007
PaxLair City held an afternoon event on January 15, 2007. While not many people were able to attend, there were fights to the death inside the PaxLair North Arena. Blood spurted out from fighters as they hacked and slashed at each other in un-armoured duel.
Fred Flintstone and Rubber Dutchy fought feverishly against each other. They tried different tactics and strategies. Their fights were primarily based on their training in prior combat situations since weapons were crafted at the arena.
PaxLair City plans to continue fighting tournaments in the up-coming Age of Enlightenment. Watch for announcements.

PAXLANE (TRAMMEL), PAXLAIR - January 14, 2007
PaxLane welcomed people to its PaxLair 9th Anniversary event to recall fond memories of days past. People gathered inside the "PaxLane Iuchi Shiro Old Shoppe and Tavern" located at 24-15S 33-15W Trammel straight west of Gyldenfeld at the Skara Brae/Yew/Britain crossroad. The memories included some good and not-so-good memories from the people who attended. Each were memorable and revealed a little about each person's past or other things that happened in the Realm.
Viceroy Sibelius of PaxLane started with his own reflection upon a fond memory. People told their stories for nearly two hours. Between one of the stories, Governor Winfield stood up and held a brief ceremony. The ceremony had Viceroy Sibelius swear a new oath and be appointed as Mayor of PaxLane.
People at the event included Governor Winfield, Mayor Sibelius, Viceroy Kerrs Holley, Viceroy Tatania, Lady Katherine, Lady Winmere, Queen Mum, Darth Oni, Fignut the Elder, and Exodus Lyonne. Most gave their accounts of memorable moments as shown in the images below. |

MAGE TOWER, PAXLAIR CITY (FELUCCA), PAXLAIR - January 14, 2007
The PaxLair Statehood was officially established on January 14, 2007 in a grand ceremony atop the historic Mage Tower in PaxLair City. Winfield signed the Book of Statehood in front of leaders of the PaxLair cities along with notable citizens and friends in the Realm.
Winfield read the book aloud before he signed and sealed it. He stood in front of the original PaxLair [Pax] guildstone supporting the symbol of PaxLair -- a balance scale. This particular balance scale was given to PaxLair by the Gatekeeper, a resident of the Underworld.
Holding Golden Rod in his hand, Winfield burned the text into the Book of Statehood for all eternity using ancient flames representing the lives and memories of past Counselors, Seers, and Companions.
Since Winfield leads the Statehood of several cities with their own mayors, he now has the title Governor of PaxLair.
PaxLair cities' leaders at the ceremony included Deputy Viceroy Phoenix of Dragons Watch, Viceroy Sibelius of PaxLane, Viceroy Tatania Karthina of PaxOku, and Viceroy Kerrs Holley of Port Baldmor. More witnesses were Queen Mum of UOForums, Darth Oni, Lady Katherine, Lady Winmere, and the Gatekeeper.
The Book of Statehood is on display at the Mage Tower with copies being given to each of the PaxLair cities when their Viceroys take their oaths of Mayorship from the Governor. Each city mayor will also receive one of the Balances (scales) crafted in the Underworld.
The text of the Book of PaxLair Statehood is copied below: |

January 15, 2007
It is a bitter admission to lose a quarry made worse to know that it was our foe from which secrets were acquired most craftily. The battle was heated and well fought yet our ultimate prize slipped through our fingers.
Laying in wait for a laden cargo ship known to pass Vharcan and its crew jumped one of the Navy convoy in protection but not before reinforcements came and encircled her trapping the Pirates. T'was a long waged battle but the end saw the Vharcan boarded and taken by USN dogs. Quickly upon their tails came the Bail Faster filled with mighty men to take up arms and assist in reclaiming the lost vessel.
Juju and Jackman took many Navy hides and made possible for Greyylene to reclaim her ship full of the king's henchmen. This distraction was well enough to allow the Cargo ship to slip through the defenses of Pirates. Sitting in the midst of the deep sea a deck full of Navy bodies and taking on water the Vharcan saw the Cargo vessel sail by with no escort and free for the taking, yet with no recourse or ability to pursue.
Bitter the victory in battle yet a great loss of the prize. The day goes to the Navy dogs, yet the lesson learned well and perhaps next time will be an outcome most different!

Hidden deep in the hull of the Vharcan lies a secret stash of special Savage ale. This special brew has an intoxicating power a bit stronger than that of human stout and even Elves may have difficulty holding it well. Acquired on voyages deep within the jungles and swamps Greyylene holds it secure for special visitors and occasions of importance or potential. Some would say its been a cursed brew, as its acquisition was less than honorably gained, where others swear it is made by Savage gods for ceremonial use alone and thus giving it properties of mind control and a tongue loosed of secrets.
It is well known that the Navy Dogs cannot hold their liquor; when opportunity arose to entertain the great Roland Martin aboard the Vharcan ale and wine ran free and wild. On the pretence of a friendly encounter the Ambassador was heartily welcomed aboard. Many bottles were expired and a great deal of talk ensued. Secrets of the United Sosarian Navy did become loose and free as the ale. With this information newly acquired the plans were quickly dispatched to eager and waiting ears of Pirates lusty for adventure and short in treasure.
May ye sail well, lads!

Much to the amazement and some great relief the once lost Bad Juju has been returned to the home of the DAGR Pirates. Found adrift in the open seas surrounded by vicious creatures and half crazed by exposure to the elements the runaground pirate was returning to Port Baldmor and welcomed by Budswoman and Kerrs Holly.
His hair raising tales of adventure and danger will soon be fodder for myth and legends to be passed from generation to generation. Long will be told of great beasts from the sea, savage natives and lofty pursuits of abundant treasures. Campfires will burn long into the nights as eager ears hear tell of our lost Pirate's escapades.

SOMEWHERE IN THE REALM - January 11, 2007
Desperate to find their missing ships the Navy dogs have searched vigorously throughout the kingdom hoping against all odds to find them yet in tact. Tripping over old bones and loose cobble stones they did quite fall into the heart of the Pirate's lair. Quietly searching this new place of forbidden treasures the scouts toured the grounds in hopes of finding evidence to bring the salty dogs to "justice". A deep pool in the midst of the cave gave tale of possibilities. Torn color standards, pieces of hull and the figure head of a Merchant Ship lost long ago now turned to rubbish in piles of forgotten artifacts used as kindling. On the verge of a major discovery and perhaps the final breakthrough to cage all the Pirate clan turmoil erupted as the cavern filled with clashing blades, singing arrows and vicious spells hurled from the very ones the Navy sought.
Wave after wave of DAGR onslaught the USN tried to no avail to secure an escape. One after another of the vicious kings men fell valiant in the attempt to save their sorry hides. Pent up energies and impatient aggression from repeated quiet insults of Navy treachery all released in this last foul confrontation of assumed allies. Jackman, angel of death, Tel Ket, Kerrs Holly along with the rest of the crews unleashed a horde of angry attacks felling Navy again and again.
The first kill was chalked to Bullseye who in one ferocious show of power and cunning felled the USN Storm with a deadly arrow pinning her to the floor. Blind savage energy and focus in the heat of battle earned Bullseye hearty praise and a bottle of ale to celebrate. Alongside bullseye came Zendatta with his singing blade of ruthless poison and the deamon who calls him master. As a team they did fell one after another of the enemy intruders.
Frenzied battle worn and bleeding the Navy dogs did receive more rudeness as the ground shook from an arctic ogre lord brought out to do the bidding of Bad Juju. Adding insult to injury Bad Juju took the form of a chicken to rain down insults and mayhem on the war worn USN soldiers. More icy onslaughts vexed the dwindling numbers as summoned Revenants hounded those who would attempt to hide and stealth quietly away. Crafty Pirates and their devious measures to scurry Navy rats from hiding employed all kinds of devils to do their bidding.
The grand discovery of the USN came at a high price. The telling of this secret may go down as one of the great unsolved mysteries in the king's history. In the end Navy dogs were sent whimpering away tails tucked firmly between their legs.

SOMEWHERE AT SEA AND COASTAL WATERS - January 8, 2007
Rumors have been high flung that the USN has a new secret weapon in their arsenal. This day t'was discovered by some crafty DAGR that the water in the Navy port is quite hard! Amazement and shock rang through the decks as the discovery was realized water firm enough to walk upon would be a most unusual asset to be sure! For now sea battles, which seem to be the Navy's downfall, would now become land battles for which they alone were prepared. What an advantage is to be had by these crafty devils. Perhaps to ground the Pirate ships will give an extra bit of chaos in order to take by surprise the DAGR crews.
Little well known fact though is that Pirates art quite used to chaos, for to be sure tis what we bring where e're we voyage.

MUNICIPAL BUILDING, PAXLAIR CITY (FELLUCA), PAXLAIR - January 9, 2007
PaxLair held it last weekly PaxLair-wide meeting tonight. This ends a tradition of weekly meetings that have been consistently held for the last almost 9 years. In a brief interview after the meeting, Mayor Winfield, soon to be Governor, explained that in their place, General Assembly meetings of the PaxLair Statehood will occur about every month, but not on a fixed schedule. Cities are encouraged to hold weekly meetings if they see fit to keep people informed. Cities may also have regular inter-city meetings to gather larger audiences and inform more citizens and visitors. It is obvious the soon-to-be-Mayors of the PaxLair cities will be able to specifically control their own information methods and continue to pursue their own cities' destinies.
This last weekly PaxLair-wide meeting had a good number of people in attendance hearing the latest cities' developments and reports on quests. Several old friends appeared to include John Duke, Se'an Silverfoot and others. After the meeting, Mayor Winfield also told reporters, "it is very refreshing to see old friends back and wandering through PaxLair like in the old days. Old and new friends are what make communities in this Realm worth our time and effort." |

COASTAL AREAS AND AT SEA, SOSARIA - January 7, 2007
Vicious rumors have floated above the waves of mysterious disappearances of Navy ships. Perhaps some deep sea monsters have taken these vessels and buried them deep beneath the blue. Mayhaps the strange sighting of the "Flying Dutchman" is indeed true, and this ghost crew has captured the exhausted sea farers to sail in oblivion for all eternity.
Legends and tales of long ago misfortunes haunt the bewitched United Sosarian Navy (USN) crew driving the few to insanity and beyond. There were yet tales of once strong and mentally sound officers throwing themselves to the mercies of the raging currents. Entire crews have been found frozen in time adrift on the seas frightened to death. Certainly there is some fiendish work afoot, a devilish beast from the depths come to the surface wreaking havoc upon unsuspecting Guardians of His Royal Highness. Such vengeance upon offenses unknown -- is there no recourse for such an action? Could there be any possible proof of another explanation for these mysterious disappearances?

PAXLAIR SURVIVAL SHOP (PSS), PAXLAIR CITY (FELUCCA), PAXLAIR - January 7, 2007
Gunga Din hosted the re-opening of the PaxLair Survival Shop in PaxLair City in the evening on January 7, 2007. Many citizens and friends of PaxLair arrived in style and fashion. Patrons were awed at the ornately decorated building. Skillful dart-throwers competed in a short competition before everyone received prizes of gingerbread houses and more. Several orcs also arrived, yet remained peaceful throughout the evening.
The patrons were a cross-cultural mix of city officials, monks, orcs, historians, and the occasional wanderer. Many were also stunned with John Duke walked through the door. Duke was once the PaxLair Minister of Diplomacy and taken to the Underworld by the Gatekeeper about two years ago. He did not know why the Gatekeeper let him leave the Underworld.
Gunga Din became the proprietor of the historic PSS in December 2006 after re-entering the Realm only a few months earlier. He received great support from local and distant friends and strangers to furnish the shop in the spirit of neutrality and open-for-all. The shop is one of the several enhanced buildings in old PaxLair. It was originally constructed and operated by the Veiled Alliance (V*A). Gunga Din's work showed a continuing spirit to rekindle proven old-school comraderie in a new Realm.
Travelers are encouraged to visit the PSS in peace. Check weapons at the door and have a good time. It is open to the public every day, except during certain re-decorating efforts. |

MAGE TOWER, PAXLAIR CITY (FELUCCA), PAXLAIR - January 7, 2007
Craftsmen and carpenters worked through the night refurnishing the Mage Tower roof. The end result was a simple, functional, and symbolic area. With minimum audience seating capacity of 30, the area will be used for major Statehood functions. The PaxLair Mage Tower is the capital building of the PaxLair Statehood; the Statehood will go into effect on January 14, 2007.
The original PaxLair [Pax] guildstone supports a balance at the north side of the tower roof. The balance has been the symbolic nature of PaxLair since its beginnings nine years ago. The balance represents the constant struggle between evil and good, chaos and order, necromancer and mage, anti-virtue and virtue.
The PaxLair Mage Tower, one of the most famous towers in the Realm, is a Twin Tower of PaxLair. The roof is connected to the other Twin Tower, called the Necromancer Tower. A permanent moongate takes a person to the first floor to quickly greet visitors.
The tower also contains the offices of the Ministers of PaxLair and the soon-to-be-titled Governor of PaxLair. |

SILENT ROSE LIBRARY, PAXOKU (TOKUNO), PAXLAIR - January 7, 2007
The Silent Rose Library (96-04N 62-00W) in PaxOku recently expanded its bookcase area to be able to display over 1000 books. The library has nearly 700 books open for public viewing now. The books range from World books to Seer books to [player] books. This expansion was done to prepare for the onslaught of books destined to be created during the upcoming PaxLair Age of Enlightenment.
Tatania Karthina, the librarian and Viceroy of PaxOku, welcomed several visitors during the day today, including a person from "Sonoma". The library area also has a small pub allowing people to rest from their battles in the Kitsune Woods.
The entire library listing of books is kept in the ether, but one must go to the library itself to read the books. The listing is here.
Silent Rose Library has been in PaxOku for well over a year and now also hosts the PaxLair Theatre Company with a stage and the PaxOku Viceroy's office.
The PaxLair Age of Enlightenment will occur between mid-January and mid-July 2007. It will involve a complete "immersion" within the Realm. While it is an age defined in PaxLair, it causes much interaction with cities, veterans, and new people throughout the Realm. PaxLair is a "cross-roads and melting pot of many people with diverse interests," according to Mayor Winfield of PaxLair. |
