PaxLair Expands to Tokuno!
Reported by Winfield, Chancellor

The Tokuno Tea House

PAXLAIR OUTPOST, HOMARE-JIMA, TOKUNO ISLANDS - PaxLair, one of the oldest player-towns on Chesapeake, recently expanded into the Tokuno Islands with an outpost open to the public. PaxLair's Chancellor Winfield stated this was done to continue PaxLair's long history of cooperation in the Realm. PaxLair's outpost is located on Homare-jima southwest of the dangerous Kitsune Woods along the road. It sports a Tea House as its main gathering location, a Garden, and a Training Academy. PaxLair was established on January 19, 1998 in Felucca by guildmembers of The Band and built up by guilds like Sillyhood, the Olag Hai Orcs, and many individuals. For years it was a primary place of activity, events, and quests drawing interest by hundreds of people including seers, counselors, and at times the gods. Even Lord British [confirmed to be Richard Garriott] visited PaxLair. When the new facet of Trammel was created, many people migrated to those safer lands. PaxLair remained somewhat active for those who sought to defend and attack areas in and around PaxLair. In August 2004, Dragons Watch-Felucca was placed under the leadership of PaxLair.... First Snowfall in PaxLair
Reported by Neo Of Lothlore

I awoke this cold November morning at my Inn in PaxLair, put on my slippers and warm robe, and headed up to the roof level to stretch and have a look down the street toward the Order Tower. But as soon as I reached the roof, to my delight, there was a light dusting of snow on the roof, the plants and two giant icicles had formed near the stairs! Parts of Wizzie's roof next door were also covered with snow, and I noticed some plants outside the town hall had a light dusting too. I guess this means the winter season is upon us. Time to light our Hearths of the Home Fire, and keep wood burning all day 'round. The weather students at the alchemy shoppe in Vesper have predicted a bitter and snowy season, and given PaxLair's closeness to Eternal Bay and the North Ocean, I wouldn't doubt their forecast for an instant! Thankfully this year we can seal the tops of our homes with roofs. *thanks the gods* Let's hope for an early spring?

Town Hall Decorated for Orcmas
Reported by Neo Of Lothlore

Looks like the jolly red Orc came early this year. Sunta Clompz was spotted inside the Town Hall last night, decorating I hope! Several of the potted plants were replaced by Orcish Festive Cacti, and a snowy topiary was brought into the main hallway from the cold. The Orc Santa also set up an Orcmas tree in the auditorium, and attempted to decorate it with elf body parts before the Lady Xanthippe and I stopped him! The angry orc then turned to Lady Xanthippe, pushed her under the mistletoe and gave her a big orcish kiss. Ugh! I attempted to place some of the more "traditional" decorations, like a wreath without the blood and a candle on top of the piano. Fortunately Mr. Clompz took no notice of them, so I guess they'll stay put. And now the Town Hall is all ready for another year or Orcmas: Orcmas Sungz, humie sacrifices and of course, lumps of kual.

Minutes of the November 22nd, 2004 PaxLair Weekly Meeting
Reported by Neo Of Lothlore

At this Monday's Weekly PaxLair Meeting in Dragons Watch, the question of Zog the Fishmonger coming back to the town came up. As some of you know, the ebil necromancer has been stranded in the other realm because of a faulty arcane box, however Minsk raised the point that he may have been split into hundreds of undead pieces here in the Britannia realm! Putting Zog back together would be no easy task, especially since the last time when he was in 206 pieces, the mayor remarked. Hopefully though he'll return to us in one ebil piece.

Monday's meeting lasted about an hour, and in attendance were: Eli, Marc Lug'son, John Duke, Winfield, Monk, Mayor Minsk, Snoopy and Neo Of Lothlore.

Ideas for Council Reforms
The idea of dissolving the PaxLair Council came up at this Monday's meeting. Because of inactivity and an absence of necessity, Minsk proposed disbanding the Ministry in hopes of creating a stronger Chancellory. However the point was made that the council serves to advise the mayor on the long-term, though this is rarely the case. Winfield suggested a new council be formed -- a council of guilds -- where each PaxLair guild would appoint one or two representatives to report to the mayor. The new idea is much more practical, and would actually function in the daily atmosphere. Mayor Minsk and Caretaker/Chancellor Winfield are reviewing these ideas currently.

Winfield Gives Weekly Chancellor Report
Lead Chancellor Winfield gave his weekly chancellor report on Monday. Here is a summary:

  • PaxLair Teahouse Makes Stratics Headlines -- the creation of the new teahouse was reported to Stratics this week. Many visitors have been around it lately.
  • PaxLair History Completed -- Winfield has competed the first draft of an essay on PaxLair's History. It should be available to the public soon.
  • Chancellors Returning to Old PaxLair -- the PaxLair Chancellory will be returning its focus to Felucca PaxLair in the coming weeks, after a brief time spent in TokunoPax.
  • Festival in the Coming Months? -- a quick idea for a party or festival for Paxlair was put forth. An Orcmas Party is planned too.

CHAMPS Disbanding?
Snoopy announced that the CHAMPS guild might be disbanding due to internal issues. Before this becomes a rumour however, other sources say that the guildstone was just cleared of members to see who was inactive, then active members were re-added. CHAMPS is often known as the most feared and most notorious guild on the shard, at present time.

Events in Concordia
PaxLair citizens have been attenting events in Concordia as of late. These include the Miranda Quest, the pub opening and the bazaar. Concordia is located in the forests of Yew, near the Crypts.

PaxLair's Participation in KSS Hunts
Snoopy invited PaxLair citizens to work with the KSS guild during their hunts on Saturdays. More information on this can be found on the PaxLair forums. And that wrapped up the PaxLair meeting for this week.

Gatekeeper Quest in Honesty
Information and image provided by John Duke, Reported by Neo Of Lothlore

After Mondays meeting the legendary entity known as The Gatekeeper appeared with his counterpart a Gatekeeper, and summoned folks to Skara Brae where a man named Orike Munra was found. Lord Munra asked the group of citizens to retrieve a missing part of his family's history, a Daemon slayer bow. Quick thinking was done, and the party decided to travel to the Titan spawn near Honesty in Ilshenar. After much battling, a daemon slayer spear was found, and Orike said that would do fine. The Gatekeeper then had everyone go to the Underworld Gate, where the spear was locked down for future use. Thanks to John "the llama" Duke for providing information for this report.

ATD Adventure Night Successes
Reported by Neo Of Lothlore

This Wednesday's Oden's Day ATD paragon Hunt was a great success! The team of adventurers including Lady Winmere, Victor Knightley, John Duke, kane, Alicin Chains, Thelrond and Giant fought paragons for about two hours, and collected three minor artifacts: Heart of the Lion (Alicin), Night's Kiss (Thelrond), and the Pixie Swatter (Victor). Thanks to ATD for hosting this great hunt!
