MUNICIPAL BUILDING, PAXLAIR CITY (FELLUCA), PAXLAIR - January 9, 2007

PaxLair held it last weekly PaxLair-wide meeting tonight.  This ends a tradition of weekly meetings that have been consistently held for the last almost 9 years.  In a brief interview after the meeting, Mayor Winfield, soon to be Governor, explained that in their place, General Assembly meetings of the PaxLair Statehood will occur about every month, but not on a fixed schedule.  Cities are encouraged to hold weekly meetings if they see fit to keep people informed.  Cities may also have regular inter-city meetings to gather larger audiences and inform more citizens and visitors.  It is obvious the soon-to-be-Mayors of the PaxLair cities will be able to specifically control their own information methods and continue to pursue their own cities' destinies.

This last weekly PaxLair-wide meeting had a good number of people in attendance hearing the latest cities' developments and reports on quests.  Several old friends appeared to include John Duke, Se'an Silverfoot and others.  After the meeting, Mayor Winfield also told reporters, "it is very refreshing to see old friends back and  wandering through PaxLair like in the old days.  Old and new friends are what make communities in this Realm worth our time and effort."

As PaxLair moves into the Age of Enlightenment, which involves great immersion into the Realm, one of the challenges will be to keep everyone informed on a daily basis.  Skypages will continue to be updated with more daily news and schedules of events; SkyForums will have more indepth discussions of current issues, events, and happenings.  These should be "daily reads" for all citizens, visitors, and interested people.  He added that documenting the news and activities in the Ether is vital because it increases people's awareness of the great people of PaxLair and their comraderie, while documenting PaxLair's progress throughout the years.

Yet, the Mayor strongly pointed out that the goal is not to do things in the Ether, but to be ever present in the cities and in the Realm.  The Statehood and some Chancellors of cities will help keep information flowing in the Ether.  The true communication though will be more creative through books, post office boxes, and meeting people face-to-face.  Even a dramatic play can educate people about history, latest events, or even visions of the future.  These will become the mainstream of communication in the upcoming "realistic" Age of Enlightenment.
