PENNED FROM THE DESK OF MAYOR WINFIELD - March 31, 2006

Hail my friends,

Days of old and days of new sometimes have a tendency to collide--or do they? Some people look back and wish for what was; others look forward and wish for what is possible. Still others take pieces of both and knit a warm blanket.

Both motivations of old and new are completely valid to move our community in a prosperous direction. Both are useful in plotting our course into the future.

It is naive to think we will all agree on the specifics of any future course, but it is not naive to agree that we are on a course together and we want to somehow be on it. That is why we are still here.

To travel along this course we must commit ourselves to the notion that there is a more prosperous future. We must realize each of us can make a difference. Once we do that, all the rest has to do with challenges.

As changes come to our Realm and our community grows, we should not fear the changes. We should embrace the changes as challenges. We are a people that thrive on the challenge--it helps us grow; it helps us prosper; it keeps us here; it keeps us together.

Just like the Realm, change has always happened in PaxLair. Nothing has been the same in all of PaxLair's eight-year history. Certain changes cause some of our cities to go dormant, while those same changes allow our other cities to prosper with new creativity. Still, the nature of PaxLair is a diverse community with ambitions at all ends of a wide spectrum. Our ultimate challenge is for us all to succeed.

So we have a common denominator in our community--the challenge to achieve, the challenge to build, the challenge to enjoy.

Embrace these challenges and the difficult course we take. Enjoy it. Make it your own.

Dragonspeed,

Winfield, Mayor of PaxLair
