The PaxLair Times -*-Current News Stands-*- -*-Words from our Mayor-*- Wonderful times are reaching the Realm. There are more towns coming back into the fold and also new ones! I must tell you a little about the new town Port Baldmor, the island of the Pirates! I visited Port Baldmor this past week when they had a party. I got a little drunk and the pirates were nice enough to take me off the island at the end of the party in one of their huge ocean vessels. We went from their island to Trinsic where they dropped me off on the docks. The Pirates were a little skittish about those docks in Trinsic; they kept a good eye out for Paladins who may have a price on their heads. The voyage was pretty uneventful except for an annoying Water Elemental making nasty noises and casting a few spells. The Pirates sent the Elemental back to its Element quickly and we continued on. At the party, I learned more about the Gatekeeper and a quest for some lost tomes (books). The books are far out at sea somewhere and they need a map from the Gatekeeper. Time will tell if the Gatekeeper helps them and who knows what the books will reveal for certain. Something about ancient powers I hear. Anyway, I've enjoyed some time off and continue to enjoy wandering the Realm and meeting new people and towns. Dragonspeed to everyone! Winfield, Mayor of PaxLair

People of PaxLair arrived at the Tea House in PaxOku rather randomly tonight to offer their fine ales and wine. We even had plenty of wine imported from Baldmor Port by Kerrs Holley [DAGR], the pirate. Viceroy Gareth said he was trying to establish some laws in PaxOku but was having a hard time since everyone was drunk today. Mayor Winfield sipped on a vintage Magincia Pinot 103 brought by Kerrs Holley while Tatania shouted out a New Years message that she heard from the Time Lord. All is well in PaxOku with many friends. All look forward to a great year to come for the entire Realm. Oh, the Soggy Barnacle will be open in Baldmor on Tuesday, January 3rd, for a wild time with the Pirates. Don't miss it! It starts at 7 PM ET and lasts, well, until the last keg is empty! A rune is just left of the steps at the Tea House, right of the Lamp Post. --*- News 2006 The zany monks of PaxOku are at it again! This evening a monk was spotted trying to meditate in cat form on the roof of the new PaxOku Post Office. Reports from spies in PaxOku suggest that the monks are planning some sort of humorous attack on the city. What'll it be? A war of wits at the Town Center? Or a comedy ritual at the BLT? These half-wit roof-walkers are also known for their deadly magery skill and spell accuracy. Our reporter, himself was the latest victim of the monks' wrath. When will it end? When will PaxOku be spared of the curse of the monks? The monks must be stopped before they attack our funny bones! Aaaaa! written by Lenora of Yew: --*- The victim, Lenora of Yew, had been tending bar at the Ladies of the Lair during the hour before the Community Night meeting and had been speaking to guests about a series of evil books that she and a friend were planning to destroy in a public burning next Monday. The books were journals of the Death Knights, a group of evil creatures that attacked Chesapeake many years ago. The books were recently recovered and had only just been translated by Lenora when the soul of a death Lady, Carien Pale, appeared to Lenora and demanded the tomes. Lenora had since put the books away for safekeeping until they could be destroyed in the ritual next week in Ilshenar. Last night at the Soggy Barnicle Tavern's grand opening, Carien Pale appeared once again and nearly set the tavern on fire while in a demanding rage to take the books from Lenora. Tonight, friends who were enjoying a drink at the Ladies of the Lair before Community Night agreed to meet Lenora at the Skara Brae Community Center, but she didn't show within several minutes and the friends went looking for her at her abode in PaxLair. Lenora's house had been rummaged through, furniture was turned upside down and books were lying on the ground, but Lenora was nowhere to be found. On the porch steps a bloodstained note was found that reveals Carien Pale is working with an accomplice: "Teren, Community Night was immediately cancelled and all in attendance went looking for Lenora, but no clues have been found and there are no leads on her whereabouts. --*- Port Baldmor Grand Opening Monday the 16th of January 8pm est. Come hang out with the pirates for a day of drinking and fun. There shall be a short introduction and speech of our plans for the future. Following that drinks and food will be provided. After that there shall be a a fishing contest (for a money prize) that will last an hour for the biggest catch. --*- -*-An Excerpt-*- Oh, the most ghastly event has just occurred! At our town meeting just this evening, Darius stood up to speak, and in a fit of despair and sudden unprovoked hatred, he morphed into a being of death, a monster of blackness! My Lord Everman held me tightly as we watched this demon emerge from inside the man, and when the fit ended, there before us stood a Death Knight who called himself Lord Darius. Everman and the other knights charged him, but he fled before they could catch him. They fear the prophecy that before the evil will end, there will be a full nine of these monsters! My father Rhydian, perhaps shaken by this incident, has spent the evening in a quiet contemplation, almost cold to the world... For more, this book and other titles on Death Knights can be found at the Silent Rose Library, in the New Bookstore! -*-The Virtues-*- The Virtue of Compassion gain in Compassion by escorting NPCs and prisoners safely to their destinations. Virtuous Ability: The reward for following the path of this Virtue is the ability to increase the amount of health another player receives upon their resurrection, as long as you are the one that resurrects them through the use of magic or bandages. Under normal circumstances, players only have one point of health when they are resurrected. With this ability, you can increase that amount up to 80% of their maximum hit points based on the level, or step, of Compassion you have attained. First step: Resurrected character returns to life with 20% of their maximum Hits. Gaining Compassion: To gain compassion, you need to first find either an NPC that is seeking an escort, or an NPC prisoner that needs to be rescued from the clutches of foul creatures, and then complete the task of accompanying them to their desired destination. NPC escorts can be found hanging around most towns, while NPC prisoners are usually found in the wilderness, trapped in a camp made by their captors. (Haven escorts are an exception; you will not be able to gain Compassion points from Haven escorts.) Points in Compassion may be earned up to five times in a given day. Virtuous Titles: First step: Seeker of Compassion Compassion points will wear off over time, which means you can lose your virtue title. In order to keep your title, you’ll need to continue to gain Compassion points. -*-Advertisements-*- Auction Sunday Jan 1st @ 9pm EST -&&- Until next week, |
