Paladins Die in PaxOku - Mayoral Decree in Question Print
Written by Vaul Adlatus_Pax

PAXOKU, TOKUNO, PAXLAIR STATEHOOD - July 15, 2007

Nine paladins were killed in PaxOku yesterday. It is not clear who killed them, but the reason is clear.  PaxOku Sheriff CaT announced at the July 10th PaxLair Statehood meeting that Mayor Gareth of PaxOku issued a Mayoral decree banning paladins from PaxOku.  The Mayor re-affirmed the decree yesterday after these killings.  He said paladins broke the "No Paladin Law" in PaxOku and were killed by the his orders.

After the paladin deaths, Mayor NANOC and Deputy Mayor Phoenix from Dragons Watch replaced paladin guards and collected the fallen in PaxOku.  The recovery and re-enforcement effort went without skirmish.

Paladin Cross McLeod of PaxLair City was outraged at the decree.  He sarcastically stated at the July 10th meeting, "Sure, a NO paladins policy is OK, but not a NO orcs policy" referring to orcs running PaxLair City.

The incident has called into question the legalities of Mayor Gareth's decree and the actions of paladins in PaxOku.

The PaxOku government has not yet offered a reason for the "No Paladin Law", at least in public statements or reporting.  Governor Winfield's question to Mayor Gareth at the July 10th meeting went unanswered, and has yet to be answered by the Mayor.  Governor Winfield stated he would not interfere with policies and decrees of the cities of PaxLair unless they destabilize the balance of the PaxLair Statehood or violate PaxLair Statehood laws.

PaxLair Statehood laws and decrees are published.  PaxLair Laws are broad in nature and do not change often.  Decrees are orders supported by and having the force of law.  Many decrees are short-term orders or orders for very specific purposes.

Mayor NANOC proclaimed he is following PaxLair Statehood Law in violating Mayor Gareth's decree.  Mayor NANOC claims the right to bring paladins into all of PaxOku, not just into the VoidQueen District.   Sources close to the Governor revealed his Office plans to personally hear Mayor NANOC's claim and review Mayor Gareth's decree.  A hearing may be held soon.

Lady Winmere said paladins are welcome at her Garden House in PaxOku.  This may cause some friction in PaxOku since the Garden House is in the VirtueWind District of PaxOku.

Mayor Gareth divided PaxOku into seven districts on June 19, 2007 as shown below.  Each district may have a council member representing their district in the PaxOku government, thus replacing city Chancellors.
