PAXLAIR STATEHOOD - June 17, 2007

Governor Winfield recently announced the PaxLair Statehood will hold a weekly PaxLair meeting in PaxOku on Tuesday, June 19, 2007 that may hold special interest for many people.  Mayor Tatania Karthina of PaxOku will be resigning her position and Deputy Mayor Gareth of PaxOku will be appointed as the new mayor.  However, rumors exist that the Governor has some undisclosed concern about Gareth involving another Gareth, an evil Gareth, within the Realm.  Other announcements affecting the Statehood are also expected at the meeting, but are still in coordination with various officials before public release.

The meeting on June 19th is open to everyone and will be held at the PaxOku Municipal Building at 1500 Monk's Crossing in PaxOku (93-25N, 68-29W, Homare-jima, PaxOku, Tokuno, Chesapeake).  The pre-meeting activities start at 8:30 PM ET with the meeting starting promptly at 9 PM ET.  At 10 PM ET, Statehood officials expect there will be an adventure or quest for everyone.

Mayor Tatania Karthina will resign in order to spend time looking for her brother Caius.  She has served as PaxOku's mayor (and viceroy) since October 11, 2006.

Deputy Mayor Gareth will be appointed by Governor Winfield to the mayor position in PaxOku.  Gareth served as the Viceroy of PaxOku from June 20, 2005 to July 11, 2006 and then as the Deputy Mayor from April 8, 2007.

After discussing these announcements with reporters, an aide approached Governor Winfield and whispered in his ear.  An elf reporter nearby could only hear something about an evil Gareth that existed and was wanted by Guardians Gate on numerous charges.  Governor Winfield's face immediately showed concern and deep thought.  He then told his aide to meet him in his office and to contact various Guardians Gate officials.

It is known in the press that an evil Gareth appeared in the Realm and led the PaxOku Red Guard with some UTB mercenaries against Guardians Gate.  Winfield, being on numerous fishing trips in the past two months, did realize there was more than one Gareth and actually met with the evil Gareth briefly a month ago.  What transpired since then from the Governor's point of view is not known.

Governor Winfield was not available for comment after the press conference.  He was apparently behind closed doors speaking with the Gareth of PaxOku about the continued existence and whereabouts of the evil Gareth.

Rumors started to spread that this situation could affect Gareth's appointment to the Mayorship of PaxOku.  Many expect to learn more at the PaxLair Meeting on Tuesday, June 19th.
