Player Towns are wonderful places of activity, comraderie, organization, and overall fun!  Many times, the activity in a player town rivals activity in a town of the Realm, such as Jhelom or Serpents Hold. There are usually several qualities that make a player town:

  • Housing exists in a central area, sometimes also with a few distant locations for special purposes (like a building near the ocean to offer dock services).  This housing is organized in ways that make sense for overall town management.  There are usually a town hall, tavern, commercial vendor establishments, monuments, and sometimes even a jail!
  • A working Government, usually with a mayor to organize the citizens and guild(s) so decisions can be made on the progress of the town.
  • Citizens and/or Citizen-Guild(s), who make up the Citizenry of the town.  Some towns will have several Citizen-Guilds or just one.  Others will also have a town stone for people who wish to just join the Town, but not a specific Citizen-Guild.
  • Town Culture, where each town is usually unique in some fashion.  Some are role-playing towns aligned to evil, good, or neutrality.  Some are focused on events.  Others are combat (PvP) or adventure (PvM) towns.  Still others are quest towns.  Many combine aspects of two of more of these qualities in their culture.  The common denominator in most towns is they have a sense of respect and comradarie.
  • Town Activity, where the town does have citizens around at least a few times each week, usually with some announced meetings or events.
  • Web Sites and/or Message Boards, where there is a way to communicate with their citizens, patrons, and visitors.  The web site or board usually gives information about what the town is designed for, who the mayor is, and how people can get involved with the town.

Oasis Tavern (ruin)

Felucca

Chaos Lord

[established: ...] [ruin: late 1998 to Feb 1999] This great place with an outdoor garden established by the gods, catered to many, many regular patrons. On the edge of the Compassion Desert, there were attacks at times by murderers and scorpians.  When the Oasis Tavern closed, many of the patrons migrated to the Duir of Yew, another establishment founded very early in the history of the Realm.  The Oasis Tavern and Duir of Yew were unrelated in proprietorships.

REPOSTING (April 4, 2007) after the big move! (by Taltos the Elder on UO Stratics)

http://boards.stratics.com/php-bin/uo/showflat.php?Cat=&Number=7179069

GRYPHON HALL HAS MOVED!

After a long and arduous journey outside Sosaria I am pleased to announce my return and also to announce the grand opening of Gryphon Hall!

Gryphon Hall was built from the idea of offering the Cheseapeake community a new, well maintained, safe and neutral place to gather, perform, and celebrate. It is located at 88o 35'N 32o 50'W (B) (As per UOAM) Just a short run from the SW corner of Luna.

The Hall itself boasts the following:

A spacious area which can be used as a chapel or performance space depending on the furniture layout.

A warm, friendly tavern with both indoor and outdoor seating. Bartender and chef are on duty seven days a week, twenty four hours a day!

A beautiful rooftop garden with fishing pond, statuary, fountains and trees.

A smithy/tailor area with all dye tubs available.

A Large meeting hall.

There are several patios with seating on each floor, and a small outdoor garden on the main level.

Please feel free to visit at any time. I am generally in my office Tuesdays from 2 pm till 4 pm Eastern time and I hold office hours by appointment.

Please contact me via PM or leave a message on the message board outside the Hall if you wish to secure the building for your wedding, celebration, performance or any other event or even just wish a tour of the Hall. The staff of the Hall can even accommodate your wishes as far as decorating specifically for your event!

Wraith Tower (ruin)

Felucca

[established: ...] [ruin: ...]

Notes:

  1. Ruin = many buildings have fallen; no real semblence of the town any more.
  2. Abandoned = buildings still exist and appear to have the same nature of the town or establishment, but are basically void of people and are not used as a town or establishment.
  3. Dormant = buildings still exist, but the citizens or proprietors are working on something (as noted in description) before bringing the town or establishment back into mainstream activity.

Additional Information to be published:

Falconers Inn (Malas):

As ones walks over the threshold of the Inn, they are greeted by friendly vendors with many wonderful items of interest. Foliage decorates the sidelines of the walkway making it seem open and airy.

The second floor boasts the Inn's tavern, well stocked with ales and wines from around the Realm. A feast can be had at the Viking size table settled comfortably in front of a roaring fire.

The third floor houses the library, sleeping quarters and the Inn's vault. Runebooks to every corner of the Realm can be found here.

The top floor holds the Inn's garden, complete with fountain and miniature houses. If one looks closely, they will see a miniature of the Falconer's Inn.
