OFFICIAL RELEASE - August 9, 2006

The PaxLair Community held a senior leadership "Retreat" for PaxLair's Mayor, Ministers, and Viceroys on the eve of August 9, 2006 at former Mayor Minsk's tower in PaxGlacei.  At the Retreat, Mayor Winfield declared the PaxLair Community is entering an "Age of Cities".

The principle leaders in attendance were:

• Winfield, Mayor of PaxLair
• Oda Nobunga, Minister of Defense
• Jasper, Minister of Diplomacy
• Neo of Lothlore, Minister of Knowledge
• DutchessVanHorn, Viceroy of PaxLair City
• Visago, Viceroy of PaxOku
• Kerrs Holley, Viceroy of Port Baldmor
• NANOC, Viceroy of Dragons Watch

The only Viceroy not present was Sibelius of PaxLane.

Mayor Winfield said the following statement in an interview with many reporters gathered outside the tower.

"The senior leadership of the PaxLair Community just met for two hours and discussed our future.  We went over some specific goals for the entire Community and each individual city.  I also delegated significant authorities upon the city Viceroys to rule and operate their cities as they see fit, while always done within the spirit of our overall PaxLair Community.  I will not micro-manage their cities from my desk; I'd rather have time to do some fishing.

"I stated three overarching goals from my position for the entire community.  These are:

• Enhance [Roleplaying]
  
• Involve our PaxLair Community throughout the Shard
• Increase Opportunities for Leadership

"The Cities are expected to support these goals, however, they will each have additional goals from their cities' perspectives.

"This leads me to declare PaxLair's Age of Cities.  This age puts significant focus on each of PaxLair's cities to continue to develop their own unique natures, strengthen their leadership and give opportunities to others, and involve as many people as possible in Realm.  From this point forward, I have increased the roles, responsibilities, and authorities of the Viceroys to lead their cities.  I will work closely with the Viceroys with the support of my Ministers.  In turn the Viceroys will work closely with all of their citizen-guilds, allies, and friends.  Each city may also form its own alliances as they see fit to meet their goals.

"I of course am the senior leader and diplomat of the PaxLair Community, and will remain available to everyone as much as possible.  The Ministry of Defense will continue its strong efforts against the attacks upon our cities and in providing forces for the wars throughout the Realm, such as with the Ophidians.  The Ministry of Diplomacy with its expanding team of Emissaries will continue to work throughout the Realm so PaxLair may always support that which needs supporting.  The Ministry of Knowledge will increase its ranks of PaxLair reporters with a reporter designated from each city of PaxLair.

"The Age of Cities will last at least until our 9th Anniversary Celebration in the Realm on January 19th, 2007.  At that time, a new age may be upon us."

Mayor Winfield answered a few questions from the reporters, then returned to the PaxGlacei tower to attend yet another meeting with other officials.

Discussions in the two-hour "Retreat" were significantly enhanced through the use of the powerful PaxVoice system.  What may have taken days to talk about, was accomplished in two hours.

The next senior leadership PaxLair "Retreat" will occur in two months, currently scheduled for October 11, 2006.
