PAXLAIR - May 24, 1999 - Scribe Griffon
Acting on advice from a lady in dressed all in green,
Aurora set out to find the city of PaxLair. Now Aurora had been staying in
the Counselors Guildhall in Britain, where they fed her and gave her a small
place to stay. It was elder Somberlain who pointed out that PaxLair could be
found North of the Mountains past the Shrine of Compassion. With Hello the
storyteller beside her they went to the town, there was much quiet that
night, and they met not a soul. Aurora later learned that the streets of
PaxLair are not safe at certain times. They looked around and found many
fine vendors still selling their wares. Near the West End of town, a
Lizardman attacked Hello, the Lizardman won in the end, and Aurora fled with
his belongings, leading his ghost to the shrine of compassion. Due to the
lateness of the night, they chose to camp at the shrine, but in the morning
when she woke, Hello was not there. Returning to the city, she found it
alive with activity.
In a tavern men met to discuss their plans about what to do with the
problems the city faced. Aurora felt out of place and stepped outside, but
was followed by a knight named Kyle. After they talked a bit, the knight,
offered to escort her to Britain, it was possible that Hello had returned to
the city. They talked of much along the way, and arrived safely. In town
Aurora gathered a few items left at the Guildhall, not having found any sign
of Hello, and decided to return to PaxLair.
Aurora was accepted as a lady of the lair, and given a place to stay in
the back. She is referred to as the Forsaken Lady, in reference to her lost
family. Along with the others, her job includes taking care of and
entertaining the weary warriors who defend PaxLair and feeding guests who
stop by. She placed her few possessions in an armoire in the back, including
the communication crystal Hello had given her, and some Jewelry Zanthor had
given her. NightzAngel her new friend there is a tailor, and made her some
fine dresses. Most prized of her possession is a standing harp, which she
spends many hours practicing into the night, a gift from the ladies to
welcome her.
On the day of the party and opening of the tavern, many people were there
and much fun was had by all. The knights protected the area from harm
throughout the day, the food and drinks kept the guests happy. Many enjoyed
the kissing booth, especially when Courtesan Irisa was helping with it.
There were contests and prizes shared by all. In a tough decision for the
most romantic, it came down to Kyle and Adon. Adon was smitten by Lady
Cyndra Kolthos, and Kyle by Lady Goldmoon. They asked Aurora to help, and
after talking with both of the young men about their love, she surprised
many by selecting Adon, including the astonished Adon. She explained that
the contest was for the most romantic, but that Kyle was beyond romantic, so
deeply was he in love with Lady Goldmoon. And indeed, that very night Kyle
asked Goldmoon for her hand in marriage and she did accept.
When things had calmed down, Zanthor offered to show Aurora the rest of
the town. There was much to be seen for the town is quite large. Just after
passing the PaxLair Tower, a man named G-Force attacked Aurora. Zanthor
leaped to protect and fight alongside her, but it was Aurora's dagger that
slew the criminal, with much shock she was urged to return to the Ladies of
the Lair tavern. Along the way she stopped at the chapel to pray, setting
the dagger there on the alter, she watched it decay right before her eyes.
At the Lair, a man came in challenging Zanthor to duel for the killing of
his apprentice G-Force. Aurora picked up the thrown gauntlet, admitting that
she had slain the foul man. Though she knew she would lose she convinced
Zanthor to allow the duel, and it was quickly over. Resurrected so quickly
by this same man, all should have been over, but the man proceeded to
challenge Zanthor too. In the dueling pit, Aurora watched Zanthor easily
defeat him, and marveled as he stood guard over this man's equipment until
he returned, such is the honor of the Knights of PaxLair.
Many were the talks the ladies of the lair had of the day's events as
they packed up the party stuff for the night. As for Aurora, she has found a
family until as she hopes, her parents may be found. She has asked me to
record all this, not having the skill to write herself, and asks that if
someone should see Hello, to let him know where she now resides. I admit
that sitting here in this warm tavern, surrounded by these gracious and
beautiful young ladies, the weariness of my travels is lifted. Normally I
charge a high fee for my pen and quill, but the generosity is so infectious
here, I forgot even to ask for one.

I would also like to mention that my good friend and guildmate, Petrifax,
won the "Best Dressed" contest that was hald at the Tavern Open House. He was
wearing armor crafted by Frost and clothing tailored by yours truely.
