PaxLair Ministry of Diplomacy

Welcome to the PaxLair Ministry of Diplomacy.

Diplomacy within Ultima Online is a complex matter.

The ultimate goal of PaxLair Diplomacy is to garner Respect between a group of individuals. We don't aim to make everyone friends, nor do we attempt to make peace between guildsm unless that is asked for by one of the involved guilds. We aim to establish an understanding between everyone that we are people too, and harrassment, rez killing, and dry looting is not a necessity. How we go about establishing this relationship is where it gets active. Read the article about PaxLair and Respect

Diplomacy is, essentially, about adding another level of enjoyment toward the Chesapeake Community, through establishing communication and cooperation. We want to instate a sense of Community by giving guilds direct roles in Paxlair quests/events and encouraging them to host their own events on Chesapeake

Diplomacy can also be viewed as another type of interaction/warfarethat a person does not get anywhere else in the realm.  The game mechanics of Ultima Online can not determine success or failure in diplomacy between guilds, towns, or people/characters and only the participants and community observers determine a sense of success or failure.  Therefore, diplomacy is an added ability in the Realm, created by the players in the Realm.

Diplomacy is used many times under different circumstances:

  • to garner respect between groups so that more "realism" of actions will exist in the Realm
  • to educate and possibly involve more people in the City
  • to understand why two groups are fighting
  • to attempt a peaceful resolution through diplomatic efforts

Diplomacy involves trust and confidence so the interactions are open and honest.  Honesty is an integral part of respect.
