Reported by Ilishlaril, Minister of Quests, PaxLair

THE REALM, CHESAPEAKE - September 28, 2005 and for several weeks to follow

NOTE:  This article is updated regularly by Ilishlaril, PaxLair Minister of Quests as he documents the continuing EM Quest in Sosaria.

Ilisihlaril describes a series of EM events that started with some missing girls on September 28, 2005 to recent days with undead attacks on several cities to include Britain, Luna, Moonglow, and Magincia.

Read more for a summary of each event as it took place.

Part One
On September 28th, in the time-keeping of the God's and Goddess's, the Brit Guards were summoned after a long rest to, once again, protect the innocent and see justice done. We were summoned to the castle of Lord British, where we were informed that Myrina Heron was away on a mission. We were then introduced to her replacement, Keira Vaelan. Keira told the guard that several girls were missing from Britain and we must seek them out, if possible. The only clue we had was that a pillar of smoke rose from the Serpent Spine Mountains each time a girl went missing. We followed the smoke trail towards the mountains and came under attack just south of the pass to despise. Brigands know as executioners and impalers descended upon us as we tried to enter a narrow path into the mountain where the smoke seemed to emanate. The guard beat back the rogues and entered a horrid camp with bodies of the dead girls strewn about. Inside a cage we saw one girl still alive and fought hard to save her. The leader of the Brigands, a lovely fellow named Fred, came out to greet us, we closed in to remove his head for him and eventually seceded. We found the key to the door and let the poor girl free. She seemed mentally overwhelmed by her experience and fled. I know not her fate. We did find a journal from one of the girls and it told a rather sad story of her experiences. I only hope we have slain all of those involved.

Part Two

The following week, the guard was asked to solve a burglary at the Britain jewelry shop next to the west bank. The owner, Karen, agreed to give details, but required that the guard recover a shipment accidentally dropped into the sewers. We traveled to the Britain sewers to recover the items. The guard encountered a host of monsters in the sewers and a new creature - the infamous "Greedy Goblin" - who pummeled us, at first. His minions weakened us as his deadly poison killed many, including myself. Finally he was throw down and the goods were recovered. Returning to the jewelry shop we were given the information we desired by the shop keeper. She disclosed that some uncut blue diamonds were taken as well as a set of expensive rings. She also told us that the man talked to himself quite a bit. Keira said then that she got a report that the jeweler in Jhelom had been robbed. We rushed there to discover some more clues. There the Guard discovered that white pearls and a fine circlet had been taken. We had not much to go on, but promised Keira we would search for the criminal in the coming days.

Part Three

The following week all involved searched the various realms for a trail of clues left by the thief, after discovering a book left in Keira's office. A group of adventurers finally did just that (check the Stratic's Chessy board for details). They told Keira of their discovery and she told them that she would summon the guard soon to investigate.

Part Four

On October 18th, by the calendar of the Gods, the Guard was called forth by a detective called Dorian. Discovering that some among the guard had solved the trail of clues left by the jewel thief, Dorian led us to the final destination the books alluded to. We ended our journey in the Rock Dungeon of Ilshenar. We follow the lead of Dorian and those in the guard who knew the way. We spied a magical gate and were instructed to say the word "difiastylla" in order for the gate to work. The gate brought us to a laboratory of sorts and we learned from a journal the name of the thief, Tyrell. The stolen gems were present as well as the body of one of the slain girls. Dorian asked that we all chant Uus Mani Bal, to revive the corpse, hoping that it might give us some clue to what was going on. I was more interested in Tyrell's journal, but never got a chance to read it. As the throng of Guards chanted and the body revived, we discovered we had been tricked. Dorian was no other than, Tyrell and the body was that of Amelia, his dead love. With his love once more alive and anger at us in his heart, Tyrell summoned a host of undead to destroy us for failing to save his love from the brigands. They disappeared and we were forced to flee the dungeon. We will search for them no doubt.

Part Five

The night following Amelia's revival, undead were sighted in Magencia. The Royals were sent to investigate and discovered a wedding underway. Tyrell and Amelia had wasted no time in their plans to be wed. The guard interrupted the ceremony and Tyrell instructed Amelia to bring forth his family from the underworld. Apparently Tyrell had made a deal with his dead relatives that if they helped bring back his love, she would help bring them back as well. The guard dispatched the lesser of Tyrell's host and them faced his rather deadly "Pappy." Eventually he was slain as well and Tyrell fled the scene, leaving his bride to seek her own escape. The guard gathered the survivors and dead and wondered what Tyrell would do next.

Part Six

The following Tuesday, the guards again ran into the infamous Tyrell. In Moonglow they discovered the couple on honeymoon. Tyrell was infuriated and commanded that Amelia use her power to bring for a host of undead to deal with the defenders of the Realm. Being completely drained after the effort Tyrell sent her home and made a stand against the Guard. It was a foolish move and Tyrell soon found himself in the underworld. It appeared that Amelia had produced a means for the dead to enter our dimension by her powers and mere presence. Keira stated that a Royal Council would try and rectify this situation, but we needed to protect the citizen of the towns affected by undead. Apparently Moonglow as well as Britain and Magencia were being overrun. I wonder if John Duke might be among the host attempting to devour our citizenry?

Part Seven

The night after the Honeymoon disaster Amelia appeared to the guard to rectify the situation created by her husband. She admitted that she had no desire to create this situation with so many innocents perishing. She apparently was overcome by the guiles of her betrothed. She desired to end the rift with the underworld her presence caused and commanded that she be slain. The only way this could be accomplished, however, was for an arrow to pierce her heart that is tipped with a poison from a mushroom. The mushroom needed was located in Dungeon Shame. It would be a purple mushroom with spots. The Royals descended into the dark of Shame and brought forth the mushroom from the lowest level. The poison was then prepared and Amelia was dutifully slain by the Commander of the guard. Before departing Amelia assured the Guard that the undead would return to their home within a week as the rift slowly closed. Until then the guard must keep up the defense of those brave innocent souls who inhabit Sosaria's towns and cities. John Duke, if you are among the denizens so thoughtfully visiting us, be at peace.

Your Servant,
Ilishlaril
