The Gatekeeper paid a visit to the Red Wolf Cafe dart competition on Tuesday.  Many wondered what his presence could mean.  I was worried another imbalance would take another beloved friend to the underworld.  Fortunately, my fears were not realized.
After the competition, the Gatekeeper asked several of us to be a part of experiment of sorts.  He wanted to observe the state of balance between humans and elves.  He asked for volunteers, both human and elven, to travel to Sanctuary and prepare a meal in the spirit of a "Dinner in a Dungeon."
We were split into an elven and human group.  The experiment called for each group to gather the necessary items to put on a wonderful feast for the other group within the safety of Sanctuary.  Each group leader would be required to make a speech at their respective meals, the contents being left to the leaders descretion.  In order to further test the balance we were required to engage in combat through the ruins that surround Sanctuary to determine our unity or disunity as races.

Both sides gathered their supplies for the feast and met outside the Red Wolf Cafe.  The Gatekeeper asked if we were ready and asked for a gate to the entrance to the dungeon.  A human volunteered and was noted by the Gatekeeper.
We entered the ruins that led to Sanctuary and began our fight to its safety.  One directive of the Gatekeeper was that no one was to be left behind.  And so it was.  Amazingly, we elves and the humans fought as a team against the evils within this cursed place and helped each other reach our goal.  It was not fought without incident, as some of us perished and had to be resurected by the strong skills and magics of our teams.  We reached Sanctuary and breathed a sigh of relief, although the eyeless gaze of the Gatekeeper did dampen our ability to totally relax.
We began at once to prepare our feast for our breatheren of different appearance, but same heart.  We elves prepared a vegetarian feast as is sometimes customary when serving those we know not well.  Flowers abounded and fine elven furniture was brought in to add the final touches.  The humans prepared a somewhat meat based meal, which I found not unagreeable to my palet.  T'was quite well prepared in my opinion.  Tradtional tables and chairs were provided as well as a more relaxed picnic style setting, very much appreaciated by myself.
When both sides were finished, a coin was tossed, which the elves won.  We decided to be served first.  As I have said it was delightful and the speech was wonderful as well.  We felt most welcomed by the humans.  We then entertained the humans, and I believe they were just as impressed with us and the wonderful speech of peace and comradery our leader presented to them.
We then packed up our things and ran the gauntlet again to the sunlight of the outside world.  This time things went a little more smoothly and we reached our destination without much incident.
Afterwards, the Gatekeeper announced that through our actions a balance did indeed exist between our groups, although it did not exit through our the realm.  He stated that this was a first of its kind event between our races, a momentous happening.  It pleased him it seems to me.  It appeared to him that relations were at a good starting point to be fully balanced.  He also said that he thought he might test the balance btween our races and others-perhaps the orcs next time.  I will wait and see, but I am not sure such a pleasant outcome will be in the future of these further endeavours.

As Always-Your Servant,

Ilishlaril
