PaxLair was established on January 19, 1998 in the dangerous meadows of Felucca.  Buildings change often over time and maps are made about every several months.  The builders carefully surveyed four tiers of land between the Vesper-Minoc-Yew Road to the south and east, and the forests to the north and west.

Twin Towers exist at the center of PaxLair on the second tier of land.  Their ramparts are locked together by two teleporters allowing people to traverse from one tower to the other without stepping outside.  The eas tower is the Mage/Order/Paladins Tower and the west tower is the Chaos/Wraiths/Necromancers Tower.  People usually call the towers by these different names because of when they were citizens or regular visitors in PaxLair.

The Spring of Courage brings up water from deep below the ground.  It is on the lawn in front of the Twin Towers where benches sit under the trees.  The Spring of Courage, once known as the Spring of Knowledge, is probably one of the most historic springs in the Realm.  A few days after the Spring's waters were donated by Winmere and encased with stone by the gods, in 1998, Mazrim turned it blood red due to his evilness.  Seer Daemeon later cured the spring by his own sacrifice.  Now, ghosts are sometimes seen in the Spring and there has always been rumor that it connects to an underground stream or river.  A replica of the Spring of Courage exists at the PaxLair Tea House in Tokuno.  Also of interest, Mazrim has a Tower of Souls near Arslan in the forests of Vesper (Felucca).

The PaxLair Town Hall is the central meeting hall and provisioners shop in PaxLair.  The Mayor holds meetings in the stadium-type seating on the second floor while proprietors sell their wares on the first floor.  The Mayor's office allows for official business with the PaxLair government.  This building was entered into the Dec 2004 house design contest.  The site of the town hall is a very historic location.  It was the original location of the Second Chance Provisioners (SCP) where Thelorn, Steelman, Justin Credible, and Crimson Dragon spent many hours every day making armour and weapons for the citizens and anyone coming by.  Thelorn even used the SCP as a bank for travelers who could not place their gold easily in banks in the larger towns in the Realm.  The original SCP was a large forge building and the first floor is dedicated to those early entrepeneurs.

The outdoor PaxLair Arena behind the Twin Towers is open to all who dare to fight duels with others in the area.  Two doors on either end were once lockable by the City and a god's chair still sits next to the judge's stand.

The Outdoor Cafe is west of the outdoor Arena.  It has long stood as a festival area for concerts, speeches, and events.  Counselors once gathered here for a huge festival in their honor.  After a time, realm artisans constructed the Bells of PaxLair to enable the residents to call out far and wide when a PaxLair event took place.

small garden with a sculpture of an unknown man and woman sits just west of the outdoor cafe.  Near here, the famous Gehenna Quest involving another statue that burst into flames occured culminating a month-long quest.  The adventurers finally rescued Alanna as the quest spanned from the Yew Cemetary to PaxLair.

The PaxLair Stables and Stablehouse sit at the west end of the third tier of ground.  Here, an outdoor stable usually has a stablemaster.  Unfortunately, the stablemaster sometimes leaves the area in search of a higher paying job.

Luigi's Pizzeria on the fourth tier of land just north of the outdoor cafe is undoubtedly the most famous Pizzeria on the Shard.  Luigi made pizzas for all the cafe events and even has a special delivery service.  Now, the Pizzeria still caters to local patrons and travelers.

The PaxLair Saloon sits on the highest point in PaxLair, the fourth tier of land, just north of the Arena between Luigi's Pizzeria and the PaxLair Inn.  The Saloon was one of the first buildings Soulweaver of The Band placed in PaxLair.  The gods placed special tables and a bar stand for the patrons to enjoy stories and comraderie during the arena tournaments and other events.  Seers, Counselors, and many other folk came to the Saloon for parties, stories, or just hanging out.  Winfield was the first barkeep in the first months of PaxLair.  Later Kyleria Dawn ran the Saloon catering to patrons every day.  During changes in management, Wizzie took proprietorship and customized the building into four floors, but kept the first floor as it was during the beginnings of PaxLair.

The PaxLair Inn is just east of the PaxLair Saloon where citizens and travelers may find a nice place to rest.  It is conveniently next to the Saloon so people do not have to stumble far to rest until the next morning.  PaxLair has nearly always had an Inn, but in 2004, the original Inn east of the Arena collapsed during heavy weather.  Two other houses also collapsed during that storm--Ostakker's Tailor Shop and the Kobold Hut.  Neo of Lothlore constructed this much larger Inn to help bring citizens, patrons, and wanderers out of such stormy weather.
