PAXLAIR - June 16, 1999 - RainStorm
Last eve something strange happened in Pax Lair.
I was in the Ladies of the Lair this fine eve attending the bar keep ( It
always seems like its my shift ) and listening to the sounds of Jhym pluck the
harp. Along with the merry band of drunk adventures who were sitting around
bragging stories of the latest dragon they had just slayed or the vile murder
they brought to justice.
Yes, all was fine this night when Lady Cylitheria the newest member of the
Ladies of the Lair walked in. The doors opened and everyone stopped to turn
there gaze upon the beauty but something was amiss, normally Cylitheria the
quiet shy person I have become to known returned everyone's gaze back upon
them. She had seemed like she was in a foul mood indeed. "Cylitheria is
something wrong ?" Penthor asked her.
She replied that nothing was wrong only to ask Jhym to sing his beautiful new
song that he had wrote.

PAXLAIR -June 16, 1999 - Cyndra Kolthos
This past Sunday the "Ladies of the Lair" gave Lady Rhyssand of Paxlair a
very warm and wild wedding shower! Many of the Ladies of the Lair prepared the
tavern and food ahead of time with the tavern being decorated just for this
fine event.
As the time approached for the guest of honor to arrive the excitement and
talk was overwhelming... The air was filled with laughter and much merriment
as the Ladies and many others from PaxLair and the lands gathered to give
their blessings to Lady Rhyssand. Seer Magdalena graced the tavern and the
shower with her presence also and arrived right on time. Then the tension
mounted as they all awaited Lady Rhyssand's arrival. The men of Paxlair were
gathered outside wishing they could get a small glimpse of what was to come
for this event was "Ladies only" ! Soon there after Lady Rhyssand graced our
presence and entered the tavern dressed in her nicest pink attire. ...and so
the merriment began...food, drink and much laughter were heard throughout the
walls of the tavern as the ladies talked of Rhyssand's up coming marriage to
"Frodo of Paxlair" after a bit of conversation and greetings to all a
mysterious gentleman appeared and was escorted inside the tavern by the Lady
Kyleria Dawn. The room became quiet as a "Man" entered the abode which was to
be "Ladies Only" ! With Lady Rhyssand sitting in the throne of honor the man
began to speak....
with a quiet soft voice he said ...." Lady Rhyssand , art thou sure you wish
to be married?" and then....he grinned!

"Hail, visitor. Nice to see you," said the knight as he pulled out a bottle of wine and a loaf of bread.
I am Sir Zanthor, Knight of PaxLair, and you?
A small breeze blows through the mage tower.
Me? I am fine a bit tired I suppose, It has been a long couple of days. Why you ask?
A large grin is revealed as the man sets his helm down next to his dinner.
"Well, let me start at the beginning, I do love to tell stories.

Fin of Minoc was knighted as a new Knight of PaxLair during a ceremony atop
the PaxLair mage tower. Senior Counselor Boots observed the ceremony knowing
this day would mark days to come where virtue would guide the Knights of
PaxLair. Sir Kyle, a Knight of PaxLair, described how his squire, Fin, had
served with courage and virtue over the past several weeks. In a wonderful
ceremony, Mayor Winfield recited the Codex of the PaxLair Knights and Fin
swore reverently to each phrase. The Mayor then knighted Fin using a mystical
sword of Knights of long ago.

PAXLAIR - June 20, 1999 - Azazel
When I interviewed Cyndra Kolthos before the establishment opened there
were aspects of adventure and determination. I had a notion in my head the
establishment would be very successful. The Grand Opening of the Ladies of
the Lair was far more then successful, it was unbelievable. The number of
people that showed up to greet the ladies was amazing.
Now we take a look at the Ladies of the Lair after they have been around
for a good long time. The establishment has lived up to everything it
claimed it would, and more (which usually isn't the case for a player run
shop). On any day, at any time, there will most likely be someone in side
the Ladies of the Lair, to not find someone in this establishment
would be odd. If you'll take a look at the picture on the bottom; that was
shot in 3:00AM EST. There were seven people in the Ladies of the Lair at
three in the morning! You try to find me another building that has seven
people in it at three in the morning!

My guild, the V*A, has placed our stone in the shop. We are back, based in
PaxLair, where we began. We are a little short staffed at the moment but I try
to come in a couple of hours a night so that there is a person behind the bar,
as it once was.
The Knights of PaxLair have been good about keeping a eye on the place.

Interesting news out of PaxLair.
Amidst a night of drama, human kindness, and general strangeness, I was
approached by a group of adventurers coming out of the Ladies of the Lair
Tavern.
"Come Gayde," they said as they ran by, "There is a strange ghost at the
tower!"
My friend Artemis and I decided to see how we could help, confused as we were
to the situation. We thought we ran to a fight.
Instead, we were greeted by the group (and, forgive me if I don't remember all
who were in attendance) which included Shael Giddeon and Rhyssand of Pax.

PAXLAIR - June 24, 1999 - Shino-Squire to Sir Zanthor
As the sun set in the eastern sky I made my way to the guardhouse on the
main road in Paxlair. I was to attend my first meeting of the Knights of
Paxlair. Me being a squire I was very interested in learning how the knights
worked and made their decisions. When I arrived at the meeting Sir Zanthor,
Sir Kyle, the newly knighted Sir Fin the Smithy, squire Garzia and Lady Aurora
were there. I took my seat and began to listen to the business at hand.
Zanthor began by informing us of a new threat to the town. They are known as
wraiths. Little is known of these creatures. Zanthor, having fought one of
them to earn the tears of the Forest Oracle has the most, knowledge of them.
It seems they have obtained the tower of the V*A in Corwyn and have now been
seen in Paxlair wandering around. We know not of their intentions and if they
mean to harm the people or to study us. The only thing we can do until this
information can be obtained is to keep an open eye out for their actions. The
knights to ask that any one having information on these wraiths do inform us
so that we can decide on a course of action.

blacksmith for the V*A , Jobe, will return to Pax lair. For this event there
will be a party to celebrate his homecoming, and a new twist on things.
Jobe will be on the patio all night (8-12pm EST) to make GM armor for any that
bring their own ingots. I am told it takes close to 600 of any color to make a
full set of GM armor. There will be NO cost and you will get all the armor
from your ingots Gm stamped or not. So you are guaranteed to leave with at
least some GM armor and some to sell.
So, Come one! Come all! Bring your friends and their ingots. Jobe will be
waiting. |

PAXLAIR AND WESTERN OCEAN, Sunday, June 20th
It was a bright but cool Sunday afternoon when an old man named Sshanshos
came into PaxLair saying the phrase "May the Great Serpents watch over you!"
Little did the people of PaxLair know that that single phrase would lead them
on a most intriguing and thoughtful quest ranked among the best in PaxLair's
history.
The old man Sshanshos was one of the last followers of the Great Earth
Serpent from the War of Imbalance. He told his tale in the Ladies of the Lair
Tavern and a party of 12 people journeyed far on the western ocean seeking
Sshanshos' lost Holy Books of the Ophidians. The journey took the party to the
Serpent Pillar west of Jhelom and then farther to a buried treasure in the
sea. The books were found inside an old and ornate sea chest where Sshanshos'
boat had sunk.

It was a grand night in PaxLair the ale was flowen', the stories were a
telling and of course the beautiful ladies of the lair! I think I might have
had too much to drink for what I saw next next was truly a vision. A woman;
the most beautiful woman I have ever seen.
She had long brown hair and a gown of silk green. I knew this woman from
before ( having seen her walk around Pax Lair ) but never knew her name. " Who
is she, that woman in green? " I asked Nightstorm as I leaned over the bar.
"Cylitheria, my fellow sister and rose of the lair. She is a quiet one and
tends to keep to herself ever since she found out..." Nightstorm paused and
went about his daily business.
I began to wonder what Cylitheria was hiding but I let it pass and I went
on drinking and having a good time. Hours passed and many had gone and come
and once again it might have been the ale I drank or even one to many shots to
the head but what I saw next was unreal.....

PAXLAIR- June 28, 1999 - Jhym
The lady Goldmoon and lord Kyle of the guard were wed this day, attended by
many of Paxlair and other farther-flung areas; while the ceremony was
beautiful as I understand, the bride was killed after the ceremony by one or
more ruffians. Sir Kyle dealt with the fellow that I saw, though I do not know
the full outcome of their duel. The fellow(s) made several new enemies this
day, as folk friendly to the couple were at the ceremony and were not pleased
at the interruption.
The CBR/Corwyn had attempted to bring refreshments for the reception, however
they had taken the goodies to the Survival shop, and thus there was some
confusion about where the reception was actually to be held. It seems one of
the gods laid a table by Luigi's for folk to eat and drink as well, thus
enhancing the confusion. Tis my understanding the lady SortsAngel was a bit
upset as she'd looked forward to this for some time, and part of the food and
tables laid out was stolen as well.

It started a nice day. I went to the Ladies' tavern to sing a while,
waiting for a friend to show up. hm never did show, oh well. I came across
many folk that night, all seemed to have been warned of something. I sang my
Forest Oracle song, which the folks seemed to like; need to remember to give a
copy to Drake. I was going to sing my Ork song, but... then Harmort came by
again, pushing his 'meteor detectors'. And talking about how he needed so many
Dragon hides... must find out what Skorr has to do with that.
Anyway, he put a detector out, then talked with the pirate fellow about it,
as well as the patrons. I think he really confused a bunch of folks. I thought
he was talking of wisps or gates at first, but that wasn't it.

PAXLAIR, 5 July 1999--On this day, over a year since the PaxLair Library
was first constructed, Mayor Winfield and Dene re-dedicated the library. The
library currently holds nearly 200 books of various authors, most written by
people who walk the lands and give their books to the librarians within
PaxLair.
The PaxLair library serves as a place for all to visit, study, and share their
collected works. Now, a new searchable ethereal archive has been added so all
books may be researched at one's leisure. However, books are best studied with
others since the solution of many quests and happenings require the combined
knowledge of many folk.

PAXLAIR - July 8, 1999 - Azazel, UOSS
Azazel did a great job putting recent events
together. This is a great read for all of us!
Aurora, lady of the lair, much is centered around this gal. So much has
already happened, I don't know where to start. Aurora is a Dryad. Dryads live
in the forests, as such, Aurora has her own tree there that she must be near.
[For a better understanding of what a Dryad is, go to The Encyclopedia
Mythica. When Aurora came to the city of PaxLair, to become apart of the
Ladies of the Lair, a problem arose. Because she was a Dryad, and being in
PaxLair kept her away from her tree, she was falling victim of amnesia. Aurora
had been trying to combat this by frequently returning to her tree for short
periods of time, but it was to no avail.
"She was forgetting everything, and preparing to return to her tree for
longer time. I sought out the Oracle." Sir Zanthor, a Knight of PaxLair,
stated.
Sir Zanthor is speaking of the Oracle of the Forest or rather, the Forest
Oracle. The Forest Oracle is an ancient wise one, who has a vast knowledge of
many things. When someone is in need they may go to her for advise. Sir
Zanthor is also the man who seeks Aurora's hand in marriage.

restructuring will involve the creation of two stones: One for those wishing
to become a citizen of PaxLair and another for the accepted citizens. The
intent of these changes is to enhance the role-playing in the town of
PaxLair, give the people dedicated to role-playing recognition in other
towns and throughout the realm, and still allow those interested in PaxLair
to become a part of it in as natural a way as we can.

PAXLAIR - July 16, 1999 - Lisa of LaFrance
Recently I, Lisa of LaFrance, sat down with
the acting leader of the Xun Verin, Valuk Razillian, to
hear his tale on how a human came to be with the Drow, as well as what
information he had to offer on the Xun Verin and their intentions. This is his story as told by himself, and may very well contain clues into
the heart of the Xun Verin.
Surely one must understand that no tale has a set beginning, or end
for that matter. Perhaps I will begin this tale with mine first meeting.
Alas, no, for what reasons had I to be there? People must know and
understand this as well. Very well, let this be not only a history of Xun
Verin, but of the occurences that led me to them.
You may be surprised to know, once upon a time I was a great warrior for
the causes of the Kingdom of Britannia. Tis true, once I fought for the
beliefs which Lord British has bestowed upon his subjects. At one time,
Justice was my heart of hearts and the law flowed through mine blood.

Attack of the Innocents of PaxLair
As I returned to PaxLair in anticipation of a Tower wedding, after
spending much time at the great auction, I soon found myself in a dismaying
situation. I had just landed in front of the Mage Tower, soon after Mayor
Winfield joined me. As we spoke just a few words, an army appeared and
started an attack. Mayor Winfield barely escaped as I was sending my spell
of healing in his direction. Soon I found I had become the next target.
As news of the battle spread to the Innocents of PaxLair, many turned out
only to fall to the army. You may ask who was this army?--Razillian,
better known as the leader of the Xun Verin, Human of the Drow, and his
army, along with Murbog and his followers, the Snub'Gruk Clan of orcs. Have
the two armies joined. Well I believe it has come to pass.
As each PaxLair defender was slain, more came. Not as a joint effort
which may have been their downfall. The army of Drow and Orc were slain. The
battle was a good one, both sides with losses and gains. And there were the
normal thieves who prey upon the dead, looting and thieving from others'
misfortunes.

PAXLAIR - July 25, 1999 - Mystus
I write this still trembling from the nights events, and I tremble for fear
of what I have done. You see, tonight I killed a Soulslave.
It started last night while my friend Cinderella was on a tour of her new
home Pax Lair. Soulslave appeared with a force of grey robed figures and
immediately attacked her and her escort Hipocretes. She was able to escape and
later told me the tale. Which leads to tonight. I was with some friends of
mine in the guild Church of Steel at our tavern and tower, when Sir Dev
Masters was attacked. by a dark shadowy character, I looked closely and it was
the Soulslave.
I had never seen anything so horrible in my life. His dark skin and aura of
pure evil gave me chills. Sir Dev ran to the safety of the inn not knowing
what was after him. Realizing there were others inside, the Soulslave fled,
and we quickly chased after him to no avail. The group of us decided to split
up and maybe try to find the creature and put a stop to him. I was teamed with
Nivlac Sebboh also of CoS and we were off to Arsylan to see if he was there.

houses that are about to collapse. For some reason this sort of thing always
stirs up a lot of attention when it's noticed. Perhaps it's the lust for
house-placeable land, or perhaps it's the greed for whatever will be up for
grabs when the house decays, and perhaps it's a combination or both of those
things. Whatever the reason, a house which is about to collapse, and is
noticed for that, only means three things: crowds, death, and boredom.
Crowds, and plenty of them. For example, person A in guild A notices a
house about to collapse. Person A informs the rest of guild A, so now guild A
is waiting by the house for it to fall down. Then person B in guild A informs
person C in guild B (still with me? good), person C is now telling the entire
population at bank A about the house. So, everyone at the bank now knows about
the house, and proceed to wait along with guild A. If you have absolutely no
idea what I just said, think of it this way. One person or persons find the
house, they tell their friends, their friends tell their friends' friends,
their friends' friends tell their friends' friends' friends, and so on and so
forth. This all comes down to one basic idea, sooner or later a whole lot of
people are going to know about the house, and everyone will join in the
celebration when it falls.

PAXLAIR - August 2, 1999 - Nightstorm / DoomFyre
Two accounts of encountering one of the 'lost ones', which were last known
to deal with the Order of the Blue Skull I believe. The first is from
Nightstorm, the second from DoomFyre. Soulslaves and lost ones reappearing....
sounds like the dark ones are up to something!
This eve I was strolling paxlair and low and behold outta the choas tower
walks a strange figure. A "blue skeleton" with the name " a lost one " with a
few others behind him...
I asked him, "I will take ye where ye need to go" He briskly walked off. He
passed the fire pillar and then turned and walked towards the order tower
walking right past the chaos tower this time. With several pax citizens
following I asked again. "I will take ye where ye need to go"

PAXLAIR - August 7, 1999 - Winfield
Since PaxLair was created by the founders well over a year
ago, PaxLair was destined to involve as many people as possible within the
town and the shard. I wish to continue to move this ideal forward with some
more specific opportunities that might interest various people. These
include at this time: information pages, buildings, and some positions on
the official staff in PaxLair.

PAXLAIR - August 8, 1999 - Azazel
The Ladies of the Lair are a very popular player run tavern in the player
run city of PaxLair. The Lair is one of the extremely few taverns open just
about ALL hours of the day (I'm not kidding, there's always someone in there).
When I visited them yesterday, I was surprised to see a man in the back
holding a colorful looking staff. My one-of-a-kind detective skills told me he
was a God, and it's not just because he could walk through walls.
GM GB, the God's name, was in the Lair's back room, conversing with
Nightstorm, the head of the Lair. He didn't seem to be too worried that
everyone in the Lair could see him. There were other problems however.
Nightstorm, was showing GM GB that some of the magical features of the Lair
were not working correctly. For instance, when Nightstorm recited the words
"Remove thyself," instead of the targeted person being bumped outside, they
were bumped into the back room of the Lair. I also noticed another problem
myself, I was in the wall. That's right, I had come awake from my slumber,
and was right dab smack in the middle of the wall (sorry no pic:). After I
came out from hiding, GM GB used his powers to remove me from the wall.

Cylitheria Found
Lisa of LaFrance wrote this for the PaxLair archives:
Cylitheria Found
The alliance of Xun Verin, Snub'Gruk and Caitiff gathered upon the
rooftop of the Tower of Order within the town of Pax Lair. The
commotion caused by the gathering brought many of the local citizens
and visitors to their location, producing a windstorm of activity upon
the ever-quiet rooftop of the tower. Amid all the turmoil sat a calm
figure, Razillian, Valuk of the Xun Verin and by his side the Warboss
of the Snub'Gruk clan, Murbog.
Razillian spoke to Murbog about the missing book of Orc History,
and of how his assassin, Ixle Grunton, had located the one who carried
the book, Cylitheria. After a short time, the Valuk received word from
the Xun Verin House Assassin that the warrioress was alone and
immediately made ready for her capture. Opening a gate to an unknown
location, Razillian sent forth a young Dark Elven warrior, Dil'threan,
to capture Cylitheria and return her to the Tower of Order. |

Declaration of McManus Fiefdom near PaxLair (Nov 16, 1999) | MCMANUS FIEFDOM, NEAR PAXLAIR - November 25, 1999
I wish to assure everyone that I have been discussing the McManus Fiefdom over the past week, on and off, with Ed McManus and Marilla as this topic started to come up. My contact with them has been Out-of-Character (OOC) as I started to look into the "possibilities" of a Fiefdom neighboring PaxLair. We have not delved into many details and nuances of relations between PaxLair and the McManus Fiefdom yet, but plan to do that shortly.
The Declaration by Ed McManus
I believe Ed McManus, who is the owner of a castle northeast of PaxLair and is a Player-Killer in KOC, made this declaration to add some story behind PvP and that region of land near PaxLair. His declaration stated he would protect the Labyrinth Woods between PaxLair and his castle against poachers and also protect the area around his castle from trespassers. These are the basic "facts" of the in-game, in-character scenario as presented to us. |
