SILENT ROSE LIBRARY, 3000 MONKS CROSSING, PAXOKU, PAXLAIR, CHESAPEAKE - December 23, 2006
Many people gathered at the Silent Rose Library in PaxOku on the evening of December 23, 2006 for a Christmas Story Telling Contest! Five stories were told with donated 5M gold winnings going to help new people get started in UO Chesapeake over the holidays. After the contest, Sunta Clompz, an orcish Santa, taught everyone an Orkmaz song and then handed out gifts to all the singers.
As usual, the evening event was met with enthusiasm and everyone had a great time. Those in attendance were: Ashlynn, Angel Storm, Tatania Karthina, Winfield, Sunta Clompz, Winmere, Zelda of Zed, Phoenix, Lord Future Guy, Elrohir Helyanwe, NANOC, Salty Jim Faber, and SoxnStuff.
Five stories or poems were told by: Sunta Clompz, Ashlynn, Winmere, Winfield and Angel Storm. All of the stories were so wonderful that it was impossible to choose a single winner. So all five story tellers were declared winners. 5M gold for all prizes was retained at the contestants' requests to be used to help new people entering the Realm. Most of these stories will be placed in books at the Silent Rose Library.
After the stories, everyone moved outside for a special event planned by Sunta Clompz. Sunta taught everyone an Orkmaz song. The song was sung in rounds with everyone participating. Here's this wonderful song for everyone to enjoy! This is the twelth round. Sing the song to the music of the Twelve Days of Christmas. |

PAXOKU, TOKUNO - December 21, 2006
PaxOku adventurers sought out and found a rare fire beetle for the Winter Solstice Ceremony at the PaxOku Gardens and Shrine. The fire beetle was led to the Shrine where it was set free to join her brother, the Sun, to bring more warmth to the Realm. This is the first of a regular, annual ceremony celebrating the Winter Solstice.
The adventurers were Kethus Ellendale, NANOC, Braden Mason, Monk, Winmere, Winfield, Justin Credible, and Ashlynn. They dared to enter the Yomotsu Mines on Homare-jima, Tokuno fending off Yomotsu Warriors and worse. Deep in the mine, they tamed a fire beetle then quickly returned.
They passed through knee-deep snow to and from the mine, making their travel slow and wearisome. Even the horses had difficulty making way at times. More snow had fallen overnight and everyone felt a sense of urgency to conduct the ceremony before all of the lands became frozen solid.
Once at the Gardens, the fire beetle was led to the Shrine where words
were spoken: "We bring you here noble child of fire and release you to
join your brother in the sky. May your warmth shine down upon us all
and breath new life in the coming year."

Strange Statues at the BLT
| PAXOKU, TOKUNO - The Blue Light Tavern is closing its doors for an undetermined amount of time, according to proprietor Gareth Lightenburg.
Lord Lightenburg was quoted as saying "The Blue Light Tavern is officaly shut down. It will not re-open its doors for awhile." What prompted the establishment to close its doors is unknown, but some speculate on a shortage of liquor in the lands of Tokuno, or on the high costs of lumber used in redesigning buildings. One odd occurance sees the BLT (private home) with statues of members of the infamous Feluccan guild, CHAMPS, lingering amongst the Blue Lights on its front steps. The question posed is: has the McManus feifdom invaded PaxOku as it did in PaxLair Felucca so many years ago?
Until further notice, it is unknown if weekly PaxOku Thursday Events (BLT events) will continue, but a notice on that should be posted as soon as information becomes available.

PAXOKU, TOKUNO - the Blue Light Tavern was dusted with a thin layer of snowfall in the morning hours of November 24th. The snowfall was enough for someone to build a few snowmen, named "Pax", and the morning's cold temperatures caused parts of the BLT Fountain to freeze.

The Grim Reapers attack at the BLT
| Citizens of PaxOku and allied guilds battled a steady stream of evil Grim Reapers last night, when the graveyards of Britannia became overran with undead. The Grim Reapers - caretakers of many precious cursed artifacts - where speedily dispatched by the army assembled by Lady Sounder and Lord Gareth, and their spoils were divided amongst the combatants.
What was largely sought were the Grim Reapers' scythes, which rumour holds when taken, the Reapers become powerless. Alas not a single scythe was recovered that evening, and the Grim Reapers continued to plague the resting grounds of thousands of coffins.
The Gatekeeper, the legendary questmaster, was also spotted numerous times by the fighters. When questioned his only response was "DIE. DIE. DIE". And many died. But many survived, and many others collected Twighlight Lanterns from the bodies of red skeletons at the graveyards.
In other news around the land, pumpkins have become ripe to pick on the vines of many pumpkin patches. Jack O' Lanterns are also appearing in the fields, the sources of their light - unknown. Reports even suggest ebony pumpkins have been growing, a possible hint of greater evils lurking in the lands? |

PaxOku Graveyard
| PAXOKU, TOKUNO - July 11, 2006
(Reported by Gareth)
Seven miners lost their lives in the mountains west of PaxOku yesterday during a sudden and tragic mine collapse. A lack of certain safety measures are being blamed as the cause. Mine officials were not available for comment.
Viceroy Gareth arrived on the scene while the bodies were being carefully removed. He placed a gag order on all rescuers until families could be notified. Gareth met with families soon after the mine was cleared. The families requested their loved ones be buried in PaxOku.
To make the new cemetary, Gareth, Nara, and Sarberius leveled the old PaxOku apartments and Playhouse with explosion potions set off by earthquake spells. The building crumbled into dust. Workers quickly cleared the debris.
Using funds from the PaxOku Treasury, the city hired Mordan to excavate and build a city graveyard. Construction finished in the early morning today and the miners' bodies were lain to rest. However, after construction was thought to be completed, residents heard additional digging at the graveyard site. Viceroy Gareth asked residents and officials to find Mordan to determine the reason for additional digging at the graveyard. |
