Paladin Keep on Heightened Alert in East Meadow Print
Written by Elrohir Helyanwe
Monday, 19 February 2007

From the desk of Elrohir Helyanwe - Chancellor of the Interior, PaxLair City:

Due to the increased activity of orcs in the city (and most recently the East Meadow), the Paladin Keep has heightened it's security.  The most recent acquisition of the orcs is adjacent to the southeast corner of the keep, which is the stronghold of the East Meadow.  I have spoken with retired Minister of Defense Elijah Cross and he has assured me that this increase in security is only a precaution and at the moment there is no apparent danger.  Cross stated that he was concerned by suspicious questions being asked of different citizens of the city and made the decision to place guards at the keep.  The guards are keeping a close eye on the orcs who have recently moved into the area, watching for any suspicious activity.

Orcish Engineer Spotted in PaxLair Print

Orcish Engineer in the New Plot

One of the Orcs’ personal engineer’s was spotted taking measurements throughout PaxLair Felucca as he moved about from spot to spot, hitting locations thought by the Orcs to be “areas of interest”. These locations include Former Luigi’s Pizzeria and Cross MacLeod’s Defense Tower.

I originally spotted the Engineer making plans in the dirt of their new acquisition in the Eastern Meadow. A new plot founded between Elijah Cross’ Keep and the Orc Fort to the east, increasing the Orcish holds to 9 foundations now within PaxLair Felucca. The plot is sparsely built as of now, but mostly contains plans for its future design, as well as plans for other, unnamed locations. I halted my resource gathering that I was doing for the Orcs and began to follow the Engineer as he ran about PaxLair, going to many locations, but hitting certain areas repetitively. One such location was Former Luigi’s Pizzeria.

Poison in PaxLair City! Orcs start taking over! (SLIDE SHOW) Print

PAXLAIR CITY (FELUCCA) - February 10, 2007

During an immersion of activity in PaxLair City on February 10, 2007, poison spread throughout the City.  The Ladies of the Lair Garden on Main Street had eternally corrupt trees, the Orcish Ruins were filled with poison, Troubadour Hall became an orcish building, and Orcs fought Humans and Elves in the streets.

Ga'kuct the Warbozz of the Orcs was very upset at the entire situation, telling Governor Winfield the Orcs will keep watch on the Orcish Ruins and blamed humans for the poison.  The orcs quickly created more orcish buildings in PaxLair City.  Is PaxLair City going to war?  Will there be balance?

from the slide show...

The orcs started looking at more signs of poison flowing through PaxLair City.
Poison seemed to be approaching the Spring of Courage. But the Spring did not appear to be corrupted.
Everyone saw that traces of poison continued to flow west of the Spring.

The War God Blesses the Orcs With More Gifts! Print
Written by John Duke

Fort Mu'Grak

More great news breaks from PaxLair, and it is my distinct honor, as the slave to the Orcs, to announce with enthusiasm, that new establishments have been claimed for by the Orcs!

First, the War God claimed the homeless shelter; an abandoned building long abused by the citizens of PaxLair, and gave it to the Orcs. The building was reinforced with the strongest Orcish designs and latest Orcish engineering and designated as Fort Mu’Grak, in honor of the once great Orc. The new Fort is the new eyes on to the Main Street of PaxLair, as well as the southern entrance and road of PaxLair.

Fort Yu'Gluk

Later that same day, the War God bestowed another gift upon the Orcs, as they claimed a collapsed building next to the Ladies of the Lair and designated it as their new Northern Watch Tower and Prison, and renamed it to Fort Yu’gluk. The fort will maintain a strong visual point for the Orcs, as they are able to keep a full view of the north, when stationed at Klug da Stu Maker’s home and at Fort Yu’gluk, they can maintain full northern coverage. The fort is also in a great western position, giving the Orcs Western Coverage to compliment their far Eastern coverage with the original Orc Fort far to the East.

A Mystery: Evil Trees at the Ladies of the Lair Garden Print
Written by Winfield_Pax
Saturday, 10 February 2007

MAIN STREET, PAXLAIR CITY (FELUCCA) -- February 10, 2007

Further investigations into the corruption of the Ladies of the Lair Garden revealed small eternally corrupt trees deeply rooted into the ground.  It is believed that a strong wizard or mage and someone who knows a great deal about trees are needed to uncover the mystery.  Governor Winfield is asking for such aid to come to PaxLair City on Saturday night, February 10, 2007 at 8 PM Eastern time.

There is a hypothesis that the eternally corrupt trees are rooted from the orcish ruins nearby.  These ruins, now just a small wall of stone, have been in PaxLair City for almost nine years.  The orcish ruins were declared as sacred long ago to appease the orcs; the orcs claimed they were the original residents of the meadow before PaxLair was created.

The Ladies of the Lair Garden was originally planted in PaxLair City on January 29, 2007 and was found to be partially decimated on February 4, 2007.  At that time, no one claimed specific responsibility for the destruction.  The garden seemed to be frequented by the orcs and the town drunk.

The Ladies of the Lair need the garden to replenish the food supply that was used during the harsh winter.

Gypsies Move into PaxLair City Print

NEAR THE LADIES OF THE LAIR, PAXLAIR CITY (FELUCCA) -- February 10, 2007

It appears that gypsies have moved into PaxLair City next to the Ladies of the Lair.  Governor Winfield, Deputy Mayor of PaxLair City Lyonne, and Tari of the Ladies Lair visited the gypsy building today.  The citizens of PaxLair City do not know much about gypsies, so they are trying to find them.  Gypsies are known to move around different cities.  The small gypsy home in PaxLair City contains various tools and equipment for crafting items that one would assume that gypsies will sell or trade in PaxLair City.

Governor Winfield said, "I do not know the gypsy.  I once had a gypsy as an assistant.  I do not know if Nastasia has moved back into PaxLair City.  This house does not appear to be her house."

More Destruction in PaxLair City and Orcs Pay a Visit Print
Written by Winfield_Pax
Sunday, 04 February 2007

MAIN STREET, PAXLAIR CITY (FELUCCA) - February, 4, 2007

The Ladies of the Lair Garden and the Troubadour Hall showed increased signs of decimation.  Portions of the fence and destruction of crops was evident at the garden.  Troubadour Hall was continuing to fall into ruin with only one floor left.  Some orcs, a town drunk, and the Mayor of PaxOku visited these buildings.  The Mayor asked who had done these things.  No one confessed to these crimes.

At the garden, it was clear that someone broke the fences, pulled out crops, and broke the water faucet.  The orcs were looking for gold, or in their tongue called shinies.  The town drunk was looking for a bottle of rum.  When one of the orcs found some shinies, the town drunk stole some out of the orc's pocket.  The town drunk tried to escape, but was attacked and killed by one of the orcs.  The drunk return and said he was simply poor and needed gold to buy more rum.

At Troubadour Hall, everyone looked around the first floor.  The orcs made no claim to the destruction of the Hall.  The drunk said he was passed out when his friends were slaughtered the other day.  One orc, that seems to be a queen orc, said the Hall is an evil place.  Another orc dropped shinies on the floor saying he was paying for the building and it would belong to the orcs.

It is very unclear what is happening in PaxLair City.  There are orcs, drunks, and destruction of personal property.  Citizens and guards are still on alert for any acts of aggression or mysterious behavior.

Murder in PaxLair City!! All Citizens on Alert!! Print

WEST MAIN STREET, PAXLAIR CITY (FELUCCA), PAXLAIR - February 1, 2007

Sometime during the evening of February 1, 2007, the old Troubadour Hall in PaxLair City became the scene of massive death and carnage.  No less than 6 poor people were slaughtered in the lobby of the Hall.  There is some evidence orcs may be involved.  Acting Mayor Winfield called for a full investigation and the area to be put under constant surveillance.

Winfield discovered the scene during his regular walks through the city while bringing food to the poor.  He was later heard to say, "I am deeply disturbed by what happened in Troubadour Hall.  We try to protect all people in our neutral city, but I fear there may be some chaos coming.  The other day I heard the beating of orcish drums near the Orc Fort to the east.  We could not discover their meaning; perhaps they are a call to other orcs or simply a ritual of some kind."

Only two days ago the Bishop of the PaxLair Cathedral visited the poor at Troubadour Hall, said prayers, recited mantras of virtue, and left a virtue book for the poor to read and learn.

Poor people have been flocking to PaxLair City for some unknown reason lately, putting a strain on the city's limited food and housing resources.  Ladies of the Lair recently planted a garden to help with food supplies and more food was imported from other cities in the Realm.

Winfield, the Governor of the PaxLair Statehood, is also the acting Mayor of PaxLair City while he seeks to appoint a new Mayor after DutchessVanHorn resigned on January 19th.  He has been taking nominations and conducting interviews of prospective candidates.  He is expected to make an appointment in the coming weeks.

In his public appearance in PaxLair City after the slaughter at the Troubadour Hall, he said "My efforts to appoint a new mayor may be delayed while all efforts are focused on the security of PaxLair City."

Troubadour Hall almost Condemned - Evidence of Poor People Within Print
Written by Winfield_Pax
Tuesday, 30 January 2007

WEST MAIN STREET, PAXLAIR CITY (FELUCCA), PAXLAIR - January 30, 2007

Acting Mayor Winfield and the Bishop from the Cathedral visited the old Troubadour Hall and Museum in PaxLair City, now a very crumbling and almost condemned building.  They heard poor people were sleeping in the building; the Governor and Bishop were concerned for their well-being.  No poor people were found, but their belongings and some bedrolls were on the first floor.  The Bishop said some prayers and placed a book of Virtue in the room, hoping the new residents would be able to read and understand it.

Part of the building was already in significant decay and collapse; walls were missing on the upper floor and many other walls were losing their luster.  Scraps of food and waste were throughout the building.  The Bishop vowed to provide better food to the poor each day and also to earnestly teach them the virtues and a better way of life.

Looking for the Town Drunk Print
Written by Winfield_Pax
Tuesday, 30 January 2007

PAXLAIR CITY (FELUCCA), PAXLAIR - January 29, 2007

PaxLair Guards reported that a poor town drunk came through PaxLair City and fell onto the fence surrounding the Ladies of the Lair Garden.  This created a hole in the fence large enough for bears, and large orcs, to enter.  The guards thought it unintentional, but when trying to apprehend the drunk for questioning, the drunk threw a bottle at a guard knocking him unconscious. The drunk ran off while the guards tended to the fallen guard.

More reports came in from the Ladies of the Lair where the drunk was last seen.  The drunk apologized for his poor manners and drunken state, drank more alcohol, then admitted to damaging the fence.  The drunk apparently tried to fix the fence, but did a poor job, then wandered into the woods.

It seems more poor people are coming into PaxLair City for some reason.  The citizens are not yet concerned at all and willingly offer meager possessions and food that are available in limited supply.

Ladies of Lair Garden Planted in PaxLair City Print

MAIN STREET, PAXLAIR CITY (FELUCCA), PAXLAIR - January 28, 2007

The Ladies of the Lair cleared a field and planted vegetables south of the East Main Street in PaxLair City. The garden will produce many vegetables and fruits early in the spring season.  Notably, grape root stock was carefully imported from Yew near Empath Abbey to start the vineyard for the Ladies' Winery.  A Grape-crushing festival is already being planned when the grapes ripen.

PaxLair City management planners welcome the new garden.  It has been a harsh winter and the vegetables will provide food and stock for the citizens and hungry people passing through the City on their way to Yew, Minoc, or Britain.  The city is encouraging signs to be created warning people to not take the vegetables before harvest.  City guards will keep an eye on the garden during their regular rounds.  Fences already provide protection against local rabbits and dogs.  The fences are not orc-proof.

The Ladies of the Lair maintain a historic building in the northwestern quarter of the South Meadow of PaxLair City.  It is famous for its parties, revelry, and fine breads catering to people of all types.

Orc Drums Heard in PaxLair City Print

KAAR BAARSHALU ORC FORT, EAST OF PAXLAIR CITY (FELUCCA), PAXLAIR - January 27, 2006

Several people heard orcish drums beating in the direction of the Orc Fort to the east of PaxLair City.  It is unclear if the drum beats were a signal, a celebration, or a war party.  Many in the city at the time did not sufficiently understand orcish lore to understand the drums.  Scholars and historians were called in to help teach the people what different orcish drum beats mean, but it is a slow process.

PaxLair city officials are somewhat concerned, along with Dragons Watch officials.  Citizens are put on some alert, but no curfew is imposed.  There is no reason for alarm and the PaxLair City government does not want to assume the orcs are up to something - diplomatic relations with the orcs have been good over the past years.

In related news, more human and elf citizens are reportedly moving into the East Meadow of PaxLair City.  This is the area between the Twin Towers and the Orc Fort.

Fights to the Death in PaxLair City Event Print

PAXLAIR CITY (FELUCCA), PAXLAIR - January 15, 2007

PaxLair City held an afternoon event on January 15, 2007.  While not many people were able to attend, there were fights to the death inside the PaxLair North Arena.  Blood spurted out from fighters as they hacked and slashed at each other in un-armoured duel.

Fred Flintstone and Rubber Dutchy fought feverishly against each other.  They tried different tactics and strategies.  Their fights were primarily based on their training in prior combat situations since weapons were crafted at the arena.

PaxLair City plans to continue fighting tournaments in the up-coming Age of Enlightenment.  Watch for announcements.

PAXLAIR SURVIVAL SHOP (PSS), PAXLAIR CITY (FELUCCA), PAXLAIR - January 7, 2007

Gunga Din hosted the re-opening of the PaxLair Survival Shop in PaxLair City in the evening on January 7, 2007.  Many citizens and friends of PaxLair arrived in style and fashion.  Patrons were awed at the ornately decorated building.  Skillful dart-throwers competed in a short competition before everyone received prizes of gingerbread houses and more.  Several orcs also arrived, yet remained peaceful throughout the evening.

The patrons were a cross-cultural mix of city officials, monks, orcs, historians, and the occasional wanderer.  Many were also stunned with John Duke walked through the door.  Duke was once the PaxLair Minister of Diplomacy and taken to the Underworld by the Gatekeeper about two years ago.  He did not know why the Gatekeeper let him leave the Underworld.

Gunga Din became the proprietor of the historic PSS in December 2006 after re-entering the Realm only a few months earlier.  He received great support from local and distant friends and strangers to furnish the shop in the spirit of neutrality and open-for-all.  The shop is one of the several enhanced buildings in old PaxLair.  It was originally constructed and operated by the Veiled Alliance (V*A).  Gunga Din's work showed a continuing spirit to rekindle proven old-school comraderie in a new Realm.

Travelers are encouraged to visit the PSS in peace.  Check weapons at the door and have a good time.  It is open to the public every day, except during certain re-decorating efforts.

PaxLair Monks create Furniture for the Poor Print

Saturday, 06 January 2007

MAIN STREET, PAXLAIR CITY (FELUCCA), PAXLAIR - January 6, 2007

PaxLair monks were crafting and placing finely crafted furniture on the main street in PaxLair City today.  One monk said, "I sure like to see the poors taking these free things."  Another monk continued to work diligently with a hammer and nails.

Chancellor of Interior, Elrohir Helyanwe was found in his office in the City Hall.  He said,  "The Monks do have a Permit from my Interior Chancellory office.  They are welcome to use the sides of the Main Street of PaxLair City for yard give-aways and other functions as long as the area does not become too messy and does not impede the free flow of horses, carts, wagons, and people down Main Street.  They submitted the required paperwork and associated fees to my clerk yesterday."

The PaxLair monks are continuing to spread good will and virtue in PaxLair City.  They are a quiet group and seem very neutral to all who come through the city.  They are dedicated to the gods of Virtues and operate their newly constructed PaxLair Cathedral between the City Hall and the Twin Towers.

PAXLAIR CATHEDRAL, PAXLAIR CITY (FELUCCA), PAXLAIR - January 5, 2007

On late Friday night, January 5, 2007, the Monks of PaxLair finished construction of the Cathedral next to the Twin Towers of PaxLair City. The grand opening went off rather well with silent prayers and chants. Lexana, Stef, Wulfgar, Erskine were the monks who led the first PaxLair prayer service. Those attending the first service were Mayor Winfield himself, along with Grimlar Mithrax and Cymbria Devereux. Just before the prayers started the question was asked who the prayer was going to. The Monks quickly explained that they prayed to the gods of the 8 Virtues. The prayers then began with each monk saying their own prayer. Then as each went and finished they began to chant.

PAXLAIR CITY (FELUCCA), PAXLAIR - January 4, 2007

Editor's Note: The PSS opening will be on Sunday, January 7, 2007 at 10 PM ET.

Gunga Din is the new proprietor of the famous [enhanced] PaxLair Survival Shop (PSS) in PaxLair City.  He will have a grand re-opening during the weekend, January 6-7, 2007.  More specific information will be available soon.

Gunga Din has dedicated much time and effort to make the PSS a frequently visited shop for people of all races and natures.  Come in peace, have an ale or two, and meet many people traveling throughout the land.

The shop will be very neutral in nature.  This means neutral, evil, and good are invited at all times!

Like many establishments in PaxLair, there is a "No Fighting Rule".  This means, no fighting on the steps or inside the PSS. According to PaxLair law, proprietors of PaxLair establishments may make their own rules to help provide a safe and enjoyable location for citizens and visitors.  However, laws may not conflict with PaxLair City or PaxLair Statehood laws.

The PSS is located along the main street of PaxLair on the east end.  Just look for the sign on the road point to PaxLair.  PaxLair is west across the river from Compassion Shrine desert on Felucca.
