House Lending in Paxliar

by Illistyn, September 11, 2000

We wish to create more activity and generate greater interest in Paxlair. Currently there are several "town" buildings that sit idle when they could be put to more useful purposes. This project would allow specifically selected groups to take over (see below for specifics) a building and run it as they see fit.

Screening

Needless to say, the running of a Paxlair building is both a daunting task and an honorable privilege. To be sure that a group is suitable to accept this, a rigorous screening process will take place which will be performed by both the Mayor and Chancellor(s) of Estates in Paxlair. To be considered, the following requirements must be fulfilled.

  1. The group must either be an established role-playing group/guild or, in the case that the group is not yet formed, have a very detailed outline specifying how this group will function, what its policies will be, etc. Group specifications will not be considered when deciding suitability for taking control of the house, but will demonstrate to the Chancellor that the group is capable of getting members and generating interest.
  2. The group (or those wishing to start one) must be active in the role-playing community. This is not to say they must be active in Paxlair specifically, but should be doing something to promote role-playing in some way somewhere.
  3. A document concerning how the group will use the building must be submitted to the Chancellor. This will include points arguing why the group should be given control of the building and how the group will generate interest and bring people to Paxlair.

The final decision will be based upon past role-playing exploits, the document mentioned in the third point (above), and an interview between the prominent members of the group.

Once Accepted

Once the group is accepted, the following guidelines apply.

  1. The group will never own the house. The house will remain the property of Paxlair at all times. Prominent members of the new group will be made co-owners.
  2. Co-owners have the right to friend whomever they choose.
  3. An agreement will be reached between the current owner and new co-owners as to whether "blessed" items and add-ons will be removed. After that, the building will be completely emptied of all things. The owner has the right to retain 1 container in the building.
  4. The building must remain public. The Chancellor will here appeals to this rule.
  5. It is the responsibility of the new co-owners to decorate the house. Vendors may be placed, but if contents seem inappropriate for the theme of the building, vendor privileges may be revoked at the discretion of the Chancellor.
  6. If activity drops for a significant amount of time, the Chancellor will approach the group and try to work out ways to create more interest (city events and quests, etc).
  7. The Chancellor reserves the right to remove the group at any time. Ample notice will always be given.
