5th PaxLair Anniversary list of events
Winfield, Old Man

Date: January 19, 2003

The following events were announced at the PaxLair meeting on January 6, 2003. These are open for comment, questions, additions, deletions, and more. Typically, PaxLair Anniversaries are less about events and more about people coming together. Therefore, the events are designed to stimulate interaction between people along with continued history, lore, recognitions, challenges, and more. Since PaxLair is a [role-playing] city, all events will be carried out without reference to [real-life] things.

You may participate in some or all of the approximately 5 hours of celebration. Strong recommendations are to attend at least the Mayor's ceremonies at 9:15 PM.

ALL TIMES ARE BY THE EASTERN EVENING SKY

6:00 - Quest
Location: Paladin Order Tower, then various places in Felucca
Host: Gatekeeper
Suggested by: Zog
Duration: About 2 hours
Details: Battles, lore and legends. Be prepared to solve puzzles, know some of Sosarian legends, have some battles in dungeons or lost lands

8:00 - Jousting Tournament
Location: PaxLair Arena
Host: Emmeril
Suggested by: Emmeril
Duration: 1 hour (maybe longer? start earlier?)
Details: Jousting and/or combat tournament; possibly different categories, but will be kept simple. There may be a tournament prize, besides recognition.

9:00 - Turn In "What does PaxLair mean to you" Books
Location: Library in Paladin Order Tower
Host: Winfield
Suggested by: Zog
Duration: 15 minutes or by the end of the celebration evening
Details: ALL MUST BE WRITTEN IN CHARACTER AND/OR GENRE OF SOSARIA/BRITANNIA. Books will be evaluated by Winfield and he will pick winner by the next PaxLair meeting. All books will go on display in the library or another designated location. Books may be written in any style. They will be judged for depth of thought, style, and mostly content. Topics can reflect upon the past, present, or future, the wars and justice, the lore and legends, virtues, hopes, dreams, terrors, history, attitudes, whatever. A prize has not been arranged. At minimum, the prize will be the public display of the books with special note for the winning book. Include a suitable title and your name in the book. Bring your own book. It need not be "locked" since Winfield has the red leaves to lock the text. There will likely be several honorable-mentions in addition to the winning book. Books may be written in new Britannian, old Britannian, and even orcish or elven languages. For books in orcish or elven, provide a translation into new or old Britannian in a separate book.

9:15 - Official Ceremonies
Location: Paladin Order Tower Roof or North Tower Roof
Host: Mayor Minsk
Suggested by: Mayor Minsk
Duration: 45 minutes
Details: Knight Ceremony, Mayoral Address. Be ready for the ceremonies of ceremonies. Disruptions and disturbances will NOT be tolerated. Comm crystals might be provided to other buildings.

10:15 - Knights versus Orcs Battles
Location: In front of Paladin Order Tower
Host: Zog and Winfield
Suggested by: Zog
Duration: 1 hour or more
Details: Will be somewhat lore-based, like a quest, but all will be done locally in and around PaxLair. Will start with some quest-like event that will give cause for the battles. More details may come out, but most things will start simply with a storyline and thus lead to reactions by the Knights and Orcs.

ADDITIONAL ATTACTIONS: It is likely that pubs and shops in PaxLair will be open. There may also be impromptu story-telling events, combat challenges, and guest appearances of old friends.

SUBMIT MORE IDEAS: Feel free to post more ideas for the Anniversary Festival and ask questions. We will publish more details as they are generated.
