Questionnaire for PaxLair Council Framework Participation

ALL INFORMATION RESPONDING TO THIS QUESTIONNAIRE IS STRICTLY CONFIDENTIAL AND WILL NOT LEAVE MAYOR WINFIELD'S PRIVATE OFFICE

This questionnaire was sent out to 11 people who responded by email to Mayor Winfield showing interest in the development and operation of a PaxLair council. Additional people may contact the Mayor and send in responses to this questionnaire. This is NOT selection of the council membership of PaxLair. This is a gathering of people who will work together to define the basics of the council, which will include requirements and selection of council members.

The framework sessions and development of the council is open to anyone desiring to have a serious involvement in creating a realistic player-town council. People involved in the framework sessions do not need to be a part of PaxLair.

Questionnaire Sent by Email

This questionnaire is not a "selection" questionnaire, but a questionnaire to gather vital information so the development and then operation of the council can run smoothly. My goal is for you to understand what is involved, and for me to understand your overall intentions in aiding PaxLair through a town council. Please be as honest as you can. I will keep your responses confidential.

Selection of members for the operating council will be done later, after the "framers" create the framework for the council. We are currently at the "framework" stage, meaning we need key people to establish how the council will be formed and then operate. Current discussions are less on any PaxLair business at hand, and more focused on how the council will convene, gather membership, operate, and generally what will be the responsibilities of the council.

In essence, this is a great opportunity for anyone to become involved in the concepts and actual implementation of a town council. It can be complex or simple, it can be fun or hard work, it can bring much recognition to yourself and to others, it can give you very valuable real-life experience in working with others and focusing on issues that affect a community of people.

A key will be one or more people to lead the council-framing effort. As the mayor of PaxLair, I would like to see this effort done where people have a hand in development of such a council. We will try to make the council as realistic in scope and objectives as possible, realistic as compared to real-life towns. Do an internet search on: "city council government" and you will find several pages that show how real-life town and county governments operate. For example, look at: http://www.metrokc.gov/mkcc/ for a real life idea of a working council. This example contains complexity and legislative terminology. We do not need to necessarily get that involved, but the PaxLair community of people certainly have the brain-power to go beyond "Corp Por" and a few ceremonies here and there.

Another example is: http://www.city.davis.ca.us/city/council/meetings.htm. I particularly like advice in http://www.city.davis.ca.us/city/council/info.htm yet it too shows much complexity and legaleeze. Perhaps more than we wish to involve in a "gaming" environment, but who knows.

Please look over the entire questionnaire before answering, as some questions may overlap.
