A Pretty Sad Hunt

Submitted by A Hunter:

Possibly Worst Hunt in Long Sad History of Bad Hunts

Hi. I heard about a quest thingy PaxLair was doing today. I decided to go to it and see what it was like. It started out with a "meeting" in the Saloon. There were a lot of people there, and it wasn't really a meeting. For the first 20 minutes Winfield, the Mayor of the city made some long boring speech. His words never ended and went on forever.

Winfield talked about Mazrim and Aryslan, and Zryn and Haven. It was a lot of quest stuff that I'm not up to date in. After he was done a lot of other people made long speeches (but no one beat Winfield's). Then the guild THC showed up and a PK runs up and attacks people standing in the doorway. The Saloon was packed and the doorway was overflowing. So people run out of the Saloon and try to kill the PK but no one can catch him. Nice to see PaxLair hasn't changed at bit in all this time.

We gate to THC's city, Humility, and go into a tower. Everyone goes up on the roof and we wait for some speakers or something. I left after this for a bit, and when I came back everyone was still there making long speeches again. They say we have to find this guy Zandrum, an evil mage who somehow escaped eternal imprisonment in the underworld. They said Zandrum had taken up refuge in the Terathan Keep, and so we are in need of a large force to fight our way in and capture him. So we all go to Moonglow mage shop to go to the lost lands.

When we got to the Papua mage shop, how much this thing was planned showed through. No one had a rune to where we need to go! We stood there for 5 minutes waiting for someone to gate but no one had a rune. Finally people went to the bank and got their personal runes to Terathan Keep. We gated to the keep.

We had a ton of people, something like 15. At first the spawn wasn't bad, the drones there are really easy to kill. I think everyone started getting cocky because it was so easy at first. People ran off on their own. One or two people had already died even before we got inside the keep.

There was a looter around looting bodies and he went criminal. Me and a guy named Shen tried to kill him but he ran away and hid behind walls. While we were trying to kill the looter the people hunting weren't doing too well.

They split up too much and everyone was dying. When I got back there were ghosts everywhere. Most of the mages died so there wasn't anyone around to rez the ghosts. One guy said "They just keep coming."

The ghosts were dying in the basement of the keep. They did just keep coming, they were everywhere. I think there were probably only 2 or 3 people who didn't die in the trip. The ghosts came outside of the keep and ran around for people to ress them. Then I lost connection and died as well. When I was finally ressed some looter had taken my reagents. I died again shortly thereafter.

I spent a lot of time as a ghost and I saw all the other ghosts. No one could help them, it was a mess. Their corpses were decaying and looters were running rampant. Pretty soon I saw Lexia Hakkendyn and a few other people from Aryslan in the keep. Someone had called them in for help because of the chaos. They gated in from the top of the keep, which wasn't a great idea.

There were monsters all over the place now that everyone was dead and no one was killing them. Lexia managed to rez me, and I had to run down to my corpse right after. I got my stuff and saw the reagents were looted. Then a bunch of monsters killed me again.

A lot of time passed because there was a lot happening. Most of the people had given up by now; their corpses decayed and all hope lost, they walked back to Papua as ghosts. I don't know what happened to the quest, the rest of the party might have continued on or something but I was forced to stay on the outside of the keep and couldn't look for them.

I was REALLY shocked when I went back to the Aryslan folk who came to help. Two of them had died, out of the three that came. I tried to help them but died too. One of the Aryslan people was a good warrior and managed to kill all the monsters. He also had high healing skill and rezzed the rest of us. Around this time pretty much all the ghosts were gone and all corpses decayed and all hope lost. Lexia had a rune to Papua and gated us out, leaving behind the remains of what was probably the worst hunt in the long sad history of bad hunts.
