Sunday night, forces from the towns of Shadowcove, Haven, PaxLair, and Corwyn teamed up with members of guilds such as The Crusaders to deal the first of many blows to Minax. Her forces, or those allied with her, have held a great many people and even entire towns hostage with seemingly endless supplies of all sort of evil and mindless creatures. The citizens of the true Britannia have stood and said, "No More"

A force of perhaps 20 gathered at the Shadowmire Cafe' in PaxLair and prepared for battle. The restlessness of the combatants was apparent in the tense moments before the battle. Men and women knew they were about to delve into one of the most dangerous places in existence: The swamps of Shadowcove.

When the mystical gate was finally opened, those who charged in initially may have later regretted their choice, as they were immediately set upon by hourdes of lizardmen - the likes of which have probably never been seen. Many calls for aid rang out and began to create confusion in the ranks of the warriors. The lizards had been waiting; they had been warned of our attack. For a few desperate moments, it appeared as if the gathered forces would fail miserably, and all would become trophies or worse for the lizardmen.

But then the men and women began to gather their wits about them. Those who had waited to come through the gate until last had begun to survey the situation, and began to aid their comrades - who were often surrounded entirely by lizards. Powerful magics and beasts - of good and evil persuation alike - were used to slaughter lizardmen by the dozens. The effortless teamwork, rigorous training, and superior skill and intellect of the gathered forces began to make it seem like a battle that could be won.

Slowly the ranks of the lizards shrank; their corpses litterred the ground of the swamps and made walking through the mire even more difficult than usual. Organized lines began to form among the attacking forces as the final lot of them were slaughtered. A few parties that were apparently meant as reinforcements of the lizards were later seen, but quickly dispatched.

After this, the party spent a few moments resting and recouperating in the ShadowSpires before heading off to Gehenna to perform a similar task on the various beasts there.

This first battle was a huge success.. but rest assured; the war is not yet won. Many more battles just like this will need to be fought, and they will be fought until the free towns of Britannia are indeed free. No doubt Minax will be more prepared for us next time; the battle will be even more desperate. And there is the issue of just who tipped her forces off of the impending attack.

Announcements of further attacks to continue the re-taking of our beseiged towns will be made as soon as plans are laid. We will not rest!
