Interesting news out of PaxLair.
Amidst a night of drama, human kindness, and general strangeness, I was
approached by a group of adventurers coming out of the Ladies of the Lair
Tavern.
"Come Gayde," they said as they ran by, "There is a strange ghost at the
tower!"
My friend Artemis and I decided to see how we could help, confused as we were
to the situation. We thought we ran to a fight.
Instead, we were greeted by the group (and, forgive me if I don't remember all
who were in attendance) which included Shael Giddeon and Rhyssand of Pax.
A ghost had been found who claimed that he/she was cursed and that only the
Vampires could save him/her. Artemis
and I looked at each other, fearing the place where we might have to go in
order to fulfill the ghost's request: Gehenna City, home of the Vampires.
Since fighting wasn't his strong point (there was a good chance of it with
mortals visiting the Vampire town), Artemis was then left behind. However,
the rest of us boarded a moongate that (eventually) led us to the CoV Tower in
Gehenna.
Eventually I and a few others were able to connect to the spirit world again
and talk to the ghost. However, the ghost refused to speak to us further of
the curse saying that he/she would be damned if a mortal was present when she
spoke of it.
Finally, after standing a while atop the dreaded tower, two vampires arrived
(whose names, like the names of members of our party, I cannot remember *holds
his head in pain* Too much wine and ale from the Ladies). Unfortunately, we
reached an impasse: the vampires could not spirit speak. Nor did they
exceptionally care to, not seeing any benefit they would gain in talking to
this ghost.
After a brief interlude (an Orc party at the bottom of the tower), we
returned. But the ghost remained adament against revealing his/her curse
before a mortal saying that, if the vampires didn't help him/her, the ghost
would be doomed.
At this point, fearing lingering in Gehenna City too long, many of us left.
Unfortunately, Sheol and I were brave enough (or stupid? Aye, more likely) to
stay the course. We sought to find a communication crystal so I could hear
and translate the
spirit without being in its presence but, when we returned to Gehenna with the
crystals, the ghost and the vampires were gone.
Who knows what happened? Perhaps the ghost left for its eternal damnation.
I know not.
