The Last Man Standing Contest in PaxLair

As I was unable to attend the weekly meeting on June 21st, this week, the meeting minutes will be presented in a week-in-review style format.  This was a busy week for PaxLair, with a great PvP contest held on Saturday, a revolutionary new law being enacted at the meeting on Monday and major, and quite important quest hosted by none other than the Gatekeeper.

PaxLair Hosts the Summer Festival's Last Man Standing Contest

Last Saturday, June the 19th, the City of PaxLair held the Skara Brae Summer Festival's Last Man Standing Contest atop the Order tower!  Counts indicated that there were more than 50 people in attendance!  The contest welcomed contestants of all playstyles, arti-mongers, thieves, mages, warriors, dexxers and even reds!  The tourney was played in three rounds, with around ten competitors in the ring per round.  The object of the game was to kill everyone else, and be the last person alive!  Two people were awarded the title of Last Man Standing, and a cheque for 330K, in the end.  Winning the rounds were:

  • Round 1 - MADCAT [(C)]
  • Round 2 - MADCAT [(C)]
  • Round 3 - Valium [AT]

Announcing the Winners of the Contest

During the third round, we had a bit of trouble with MADCAT who decided that he would cheat and attack people in the arena from the outside, after losing early in the third round.  MADCAT managed to kill two competitors before he was banned, and those two contestants were awarded with cheques for 80K, for their troubles, in the end.

The Contest was a great success, thanks to Winfield for setting up the Order tower for the event!

Gatekeeper Quest After the Summer Festival: Valtos found at the River Ru

While Winmere and I were waiting for the next event to start at the Skara Brae Community Centre, the Gatekeeper appeared and informed us that something was going awry with the waters in the Spring of Courage in PaxLair.  The spirit spoke of a new connection between Mazrim's Tower of Souls, the Spring and the various other bodies of water, such as Lake Hammerfell and the rivers of Aryslan that make up the associated Stream of Courage!  The Keeper then vanished for a few minutes, which let Winmere and I moan over the problems that we would face around the Spring, in the future.  Suddenly, the Gatekeeper reappeared and informed us that Valtos the Void had crossed through the Gate and was at a location that possessed water from the Spring of Courage, known as the Ru!

The Gatekeeper Speaks At the River Ru

At first we had no idea what "The Ru" was.  After consulting with a book of virtues, it was determined that Ru was not a mantra for a shrine, even though we had just travelled to the Shrine of Honesty.  Then it hit us: the Ru was a major river in the Lost Lands!  Immediately we made our way to Delucia, and ventured east out of the city to the river, where we found Valtos himself staring at his reflection in the murky water of the Ru.

Valtos told us that he was aware that the water from the Ru was identical to the water from the Spring, and threatened that we would be in danger soon!  Confused, the party of questors looked around only to find the Gatekeeper atop a cliff.  It told us to use the mantra we learned from the previous quest!  TRUR!  Winmere led the chant, and Valtos began to back away in pain!  The Gatekeeper then said that Valtos had summoned three ancient wyrms at the lair in Northern Ilshenar, and that we would need to go slay them in groups of three, immediately!!

We made our way through the city of Chaos, to the wyrm's lair where the Gatekeeper inspected the area and advised that we assemble three groups with two warriors and one healer, in each.  The three battles were long and hard, with a few deaths, but in the end, Valtos' wyrms were annihilated and the Keeper presented us with another new mantra: FUNR.

Artifacts in the Paladin's Vault

Returning to the Ru, we encountered Valtos once again who was in agony that his wyrms had been defeated.  Several of us started chanting FUNR, Valtos covered his ears, screamed RNUF (FUNR backwards), as in 'enough!' and vanished! It was then learned that Moonglow was under attack by ants, so most of the party left to fight them.

After the quest, I decided to take a trip back to the Ru and collect a pitcher of water -- Stream of Courage water, that is, for testing purposes.  I also visited the known locations of the Stream:  Lake Hammerfell in Haven, the waters of Aryslan, Mazrim's tower and the Spring of Courage; and marked runes.  The runes and the sample water from the Ru, are located in the Paladin's Artifact Vault in the Order Tower.

Minutes of the June 21st, PaxLair Weekly Meeting

Thanks to the citizens of PaxLair for providing me with a complete copy of the journal logs from last Monday's weekly meeting, as I was unable to attend.  The meeting kicked off with a beautiful, touching piano concerto performed by Ga'kuc.... err wait a minute. *squints at the journal*  Sorry, my fault it looks like the orc bashed the white keys instead!!  In attendance were Mayor Minsk, Lady Winmere, Zog, Earl, Grimlar Mithrax, Eric, PIG, Ga'kuct, Ru'gruk, and John McBain.

Mayor Approves New Law and Amends Neutrality Law

Mayor Minsk, this Monday approved changes to the existing PaxLair Neutrality Law, and also approved a new law suggested by the council called the "Exclusion by Distrust Decree".  Here are copies of the new regulations, which are now official PaxLair Laws:

NEUTRALITY LAW:
PaxLair is a City of Neutrality. People or groups coming to PaxLair in the spirit of Neutrality will not be attacked, stolen from or banned unless they violate PaxLair's laws, are considered untrustworthy, or have been declared criminals of the City.

EXCLUSION BY DISTRUST DECREE:
Paxlair is a city of community. Known persons or groups that are a dividing force in the furtherance of community may be declared untrustworthy by the Ministry and Mayor. Persons or groups that are not trustworthy will not be permitted to access buildings or message centers as deemed necessary. Distrusted status may only be removed by internal decision of the Ministry and Mayor. Distrusted parties are not protected by the Neutrality Law.

Doom Planned for Adventure Night

DoomFyre will lead a hunt to the Dungeon named after him, this Thursday beginning at 9:15 pm EST.

After the meeting finished, attendees went to Moonglow to fight the Solen Invasion!  Thanks for reading the PaxLair Weekly News.
