PaxLair & The Gatekeeper Venture Through Deceit

Sibelius Makes His Way Across a Bridge

PaxLair Adventure night was filled with plenty of adventure and fun, this week, despite a small turnout.  The group left at around 9:30 by the eastern sky, after a short chat with Winfield and our old friend, and "The Band" member of nearly seven years ago, Sibelius!

It appeared that the Gatekeeper caught word of our plan to journey to Deceit, 'The Dungeon of Horrors', and joined us in the main hall of the Order Tower.  It informed us that the necromancer had been given knowledge of a path we were to take in Deceit to achieve a goal, thusly our attention turned to Zog!

We began on Dagger Isle, and made our way into the first level of Britannia's deepest dungeon, battling shades and ghouls.  Down forgotten hallways and water-stained passageways, we made our way to the second level of the ancient dungeon where we were confronted with the odd lich or two.  The Gatekeeper unveiled itself a few times to let us know that the depths were aware of our presence, and that the serpents had been awoken!

On the second level, things started to get challenging, and we spent a few minutes trying to battle our way down a hallway, only to find out that we were going the wrong way!  As we turned away from the dead end pit-room, The Gatekeeper appeared and informed us that we were making progess, and that a new mantra would be rewarded!  The spirit spoke the new mantra, "SIL", then vanished into the air.  We quickly turned back and entered the proper hallway which lead us to the infamous bone knight room, a popular skill training ground under skill gain systems of old.

The third level flew by quicker than expected, and we were able to make way to bottom of the dungeon in good time.  The fourth level was truly a horror, with dozens of liches and an ominous pit of human bones in which the Gatekeeper appeared for a brief moment of ghoulish taunting.  The end was nearly in sight as we ventured down the final hallway to the burial chamber at the bottom of the dungeon.  After dying a few times, the Gatekeeper appeared and congratulated our efforts for nearly thwarting death, but instructed us to kill all the horrors in the chamber in order to complete our quest.

Once everything was dead, the Gatekeeper appeared and spoke the final mantra of the evening, "SILM".  A brief discussion about its similarity to "SIL" arose, and the spirit told us that "SILM" enhances the previous mantra in many ways.  Just as we were beginning to feel a sense of accomplishment, the Gatekeeper vanished suddenly, and lich lords, silver serpents and liches began spawning - and attacking!  Nastasia found this time to be a good opportunity to leave, and immediately cast the gate travel spell.

Everyone made their way through the gate, and landed upon the soft meadows of PaxLair with tales of adventure and mantras to think about!

Until next time!
