This week's Paxlair meeting began with a stealthy attack by a murderer named Pras, who quickly ran away after witnessing the power of Paladin Cross Macleod's bow! To our delight, the old man, Winfield, joined us at the meeting, and led a philosophical quest on the definition of Neutrality, after the meeting. The meeting itself this week was shorter compared to some of our other ones, lasting only three quarters of an hour. In attendance were Winfield, Winmere, Zog the Fishmonger, Cross Macleod, Lord Monk, Mayor Minsk, Grimlar Mithrax, Adrienne, Eric, Neo Of Lothlore and The Gatekeeper! After the grand bagball game last week, Paxlair was eager to get back to business and plan for some of the events resulting from the game, and the ghastly results of the last adventure night. Mythndale: Champions of the Bagball Game Mayor Minsk congratulated Mythndale, and poked fun into the possibility of a rematch while planning to raise funds to pay off the 400K bet that was made with Mythndale! A bet was also rumoured to have been made to have the winning town host a poetry contest — and this was confirmed tonight. News of the bagball game's results can be found here. Mythndale to Host a Poetry Contest Part of the bagball bet between Mayors Minsk, and Eve, was to have the winning city host a poetry contest, that would be paid for by the losing city. Lord Luthien of Mythndale suggested at a Mythndale City Meeting, that the poetry contest could be held at the new Mythndale Embassy in Paxlair, which is technically Mythndale land. More information on this event is expected to be posted on the Mythndale forums which can be found here. Mayor Minsk to Drop the Gauntlet in Silvervale It seems like the PaxLair PeeKayS are challenging everyone eh! Afterall, we are Peekays! Mayor Minsk decided at the meeting to challenge Silvervale to a bagball exhibition game sometime soon, to either be hosted at the Bagball Stadium in Silvervale, or at the Paxlair Arena. Some folks at the meeting are in favour of hosting the game at the Blessed Arena in Paxlair, but others are fearing attacks from reds, and believe that participation may be low. Winfield suggested that we could hold a game at the Silvervale Stadium first, and then do a rematch at the Paxlair arena. More information on this is expected soon, after Samuel Gestalt of the Bagball Association inspects the Paxlair arena. Adventure/Quest Night to be Advertised More Widely, Including Stratics After the great success of the Gatekeeper mini-quest last Thursday, it was decided that more participation would be beneficial, and that the Adventure Night would be more widely advertised in the future. The Adventure Group usually makes its way to Doom, or to other challenging dungeon areas, and sometimes even on quests for infamous figures like the Gatekeeper. Gatekeeper Visit: The Underworld Shifted Just as Mayor Minsk asked Zog to recite the events of Adventure Night, The Gatekeeper appeared at the meeting and explained the events of the night. It told the audience that the party of adventurers made their way to the serpent pillars and fished up a 'trinket'. The trinket found was a bottle with a map inside that led the adventurers to the Ice Dungeon, and to a secret library-like room underground. The Gatekeeper told us that the Underworld shifted that night, and that the newly learned mantra LRU will be needed when it shifts again. Being brief, and to the point, the spirit vanished after all necessary things were said. More on the quest last Thursday can be found here. Pieces of Eight Casino Open in Silvervale Mayor Minsk questioned the Pieces of Eight Casino in Silvervale, and wanted to inquire about its hours and game nights. The Pieces of Eight Casino is open for business on Saturday nights, starting at 8:00 PM Eastern. The Casino is owned and operated by Annwvyn and Kerryl Foxfyre of the Chesapeake Bureau of Food and Alcohol. High-Low is regularily played at the Pieces of Eight, as well as a bunch of other fun, yet addictive, betting games! The CBFA site can be found at this link. Town Hall Set for Construction Winmere informed us that the new Lord Thelorn Town Hall is set for construction soon, and should be ready by next week. A grand opening party is in the works also! Winfield and Winmere also are worried about potential slowdowns in the lumber industry, citing that conditions recently are nearly as bad as the '39 and '48 lumberjack strikes in the forests of Yew! In any event, the Town Hall should be operational soon, even if we have to rip down the West Britain Bank to build it. End Of Meeting and Neutrality Quest And that concluded the 248715th PaxLair Weekly City Meeting (really, we haven't had THAT many). The crowd then made way to the PaxLair Knights Skytop Tavern and dug into a case of orcish ale that Winfield ordered. Half-drunk, and poetic, we all engaged in a conversation that attempted to define neutrality. Some involved posed that neutrality is simply a concept for undecided people, who are afraid to take action, while others argued that neutrality is not something achievable, but more of a never-ending, infinite quest to concern oneself with ideas from both sides: Chaos and Order. Balance. Winfield asked about the new land of Malas, and how each of the cities were set up content-wise to balance the axis of good-and-evil between Necromancers & Paladins. A trip to the two cities, Luna and Umbra, was then decided upon, but first a stop was made at Zog's PaxLair Outpost. After we examined Zog's house of horrors, we quested to Umbra and tried to understand some runes tiled into the floor of the Umbra Necromancy Shoppe.
Cross Macleod was able to decipher the runes, and found that they spelled MOWMCH - possibly a necromancer's mantra. A trip to Luna was then made to see if opposite, paladin rules could be found, so that we could see the balance between Necromancy and Chivalry. Luna was a disappointment however, seeming to be very materialistic, and more of a large vendor mall than a city made for paladins. Expecting to find nothing significant, we ran into a grand hall above the bank, and a Shrine of Wisdom! The Shrine of Wisdom proved to be an artifact of the balance, and we immediately went back to Umbra to see if we could find a dark shrine. A well of abyss was found, as well as a tomb and a necromancer's retreat on the hillside. Stumped by the lack of architectural and spiritual creativity in Luna, we returned for one last try and found a Vault of Secrets that would seem to balance the Tomb found in Umbra! Lord Winfield suggested that, in the spirit of balance for PaxLair, we could form a guild of PaxLair Necromancers (perhaps PxN, or NV - Necromancers of Vice).
More research into the Balance within Malas is planned for the future, as well as experimenting with a new PaxLair Necromancer Guild. Though the PaxLair meeting this week was rather short, quite a bit was learned in the time afterward, and a fun and interesting quest to Malas was made! Thanks to all who attended this week, perhaps next week the meeting will be at the new Town Hall! Safe journeys my friends. Neo Of Lothlore
