In Memory of a Beautiful Soul: Lady Douglass

On January 29th, Lady Douglass left this world.

Last night, in a beautiful meadow near the Justice Shrine waterfalls, her memory was honored by her many friends. The host of the ceremonies was her longtime friend Wizard of Id, who invited those attending the memorial to share tales of the Lady's past and the long lasting and fullfilling influence she has had on those whose lives she touched.

The first to speak was Raistlia. She recalled the day when Lady Douglass first appeared in Mythndale. No one knew her. She did not come with glorious tales. She was just a warm and caring woman with a love for bells. That was her gift to Mythndale. A small white bell which she gave not to one person, but to the whole community as a symbol of purity, friendship and love. Raistlia rang that bell 3 times: once for how empty the world was before her, twice for how wonderful it was with her in it, and thrice for all that she has left and given to us in her passing.

As not a dry eye was left in the audience, Eve stepped up and remarked on how Lady Douglass will forever live on in our hearts. Her generosity and compassion shall always be symbolized by her white bell, that tolls to protect the children of Mythndale. She also spoke of Lady Douglass' inner strength, which transcended darkness and of how one day we shall follow in her footsteps.

Minsk reinforced those sentiments, reminding us that the Lady's legacy will forever live in our hearts and minds.

At last, Lady Silver Mink spoke, reminiscing about Lady Douglass' love for her unicorn and her white wyrm, who unfortunately reverted to his wild state and left Sosaria in a rather tragic fashion. Lady Silver Mink painted a picture of a lady who was always there for her friends, was self sufficient and courageous and in a way, rather innocent. But...always charming! Then a poem was read by Lady Silver Mink, which prompted more smiles and more tears.

I do believe Lady Douglass was there with us, in some fashion, touched and honored, and probably laughing at the memories.

Goodbye, Lady Douglass!
