The PaxLair Council has selected a new mayor for PaxLair; the new mayor replaces former Mayor Winfield who retired on Jan 19, 2001 at the city's third anniversary. The new mayor's identity remains undisclosed until the ceremony in PaxLair:

- Friday, February 16 at 9PM by the eastern sky

- atop the Mage/Order Tower in PaxLair, Felucca, Chesapeake.

At the Council's request, Old Man Winfield will preside over the Ceremony. The Ceremony should include the presence of many citizens, knights, adventurers, diplomats, and Britannians. The Ceremony will include a brief statement by Old Man Winfield, a formal induction of the new mayor, and then a speech by the new mayor. There will be ample time after the ceremony for people to approach the new mayor and start their diplomatic processes anew.

The Council decided to not announce the name of the new mayor out of respect for a request from The Gatekeeper, a spirit who sometimes roams through PaxLair. The Gatekeeper asked to take the mayor-select on a brief pilgrimage to lands unknown and asked that the mayor-select not be announced until the ceremony. As usual, The Gatekeeper's reasonings are unknown to us.
